National Review: An effective, Dishonest Speech

NRO - can you describe what "Country first" means, and McCain''s quote about Americans ''working for a greater cause'', which has been equally left as empty as almost everything Obama has said?

I think free trade has harmed this country more than it''s helped (has it really helped *anybody*?), and even Republicans I know wonder why companies get tax breaks for offshoring, rather than the opposite (tax breaks for keeping them in America.) The disconnect between cost of education and return on investment hasn''t helped anything except the upward spiraling of tuition costs (fewer students and possibly even greedy bone-idle administration staff).

Now Ms. Palin is a great choice, but I hope the upcoming debates will shovel through all the empty, warm fuzzy, vapid comments about change, patriotism, or whatever else BOTH candidates have prattled -- and give real answers to some of these statements.

no2zeebas,

Gosh, you''re right! All my hard work should go for naught! You''ve convinced me! I think people should be rewarded for their bad decisions (just like the CEO''s get). I should start *** up more, like the GOP, I guess!

I for one am all too tired of seeing my income fall while the bosses boss keeps getting rewarded for making bad decisions. Anyone else feel the same? I''''m tired of worrying about whether or not I''''ll be able to make my mortgage next month and GOD help me if something should happen! Hospital visit? Car break down? Kids need braces? Sound familiar here people?

What happened to taking charge, taking care of yourself, facing your own responsibilities? You can''t blame any president because your wages are falling...You can''t blame any president because you can''t afford your mortgage...Do you really expect hussein obama to get you a raise or pay your mortgage?

Why has McCain embraced the evangelical right, big oil, and assorted other issues he has distanced himself. Because the call to power is what he wants. So he can call himself a maverick (like the show?) but he has little to show for it. He has been the best promoter of himself for so long. Now he has the Republican spin machine behind him offering up the same fluff.

The real question, in my mind anyway is: Do we all want to win? Or do we just want the Oil/Energy/Military Industrial Complex to keep winning?

Here''s one American who''s going to vote for that HOPE. That WE can make Washington work for US for a change. Obama in ''08!

N = narcissistic
R = rabid
O = oratory

Let''s be honest. The existing powers in America have a vested interest in doing everything in their powers (which is not negligible) to keep things going the way they are. John McCain, despite his penchant for declaring himself a "Maverick", has show time and time again that he is aligned with that existing power base. As Candidate Obama pointed out (this is nothing new, folks) it''s that same power base who will do everything and anything to make it appear they will change things. Isn''t that what Scrub promised in ''00? *** straight he did! And look where it''s gotten us.

I for one am all too tired of seeing my income fall while the bosses boss keeps getting rewarded for making bad decisions. Anyone else feel the same? I''m tired of worrying about whether or not I''ll be able to make my mortgage next month and GOD help me if something should happen! Hospital visit? Car break down? Kids need braces? Sound familiar here people?

Isn''t that what Candidate Obama talked about last night? The promise of EACH of us having a voice? AND the promise of each of us being heard?

So here''s the $64K question(it''s going to be talked about as the 90/10 question): Obama or McCain? Obama who voted for the right things and holds high hope that America can make it, or McCain, who voted 90% of the time to support the failed policies of Scrub.

Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama!
She brings in more women votes to McCain.
She has spunk and is capable to run this country. I can see her being voted as our President 4 yrs from now!
She is a great choice for McCain.

O''Bammy husseins battle cry is CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE....and what does he do...picks a 30 year Washington insider in Joe Biden as VP. That is not viewed as change. McPain pulls off the ultimate change and picks a woman from a state that is *** sure outside of Washington..and his choice is a woman who has stood up to the old guard republicans and cut her own path in Alaska.

Now you tell me....if I were a real poll watcher, I''d say McPain will see a bump even before the RNC and a bigger bump after America gets a look at his VP choice.
