PS And just keeping it real, but will Barack stay true to form and continues to limit access to himself where he might be susceptible to being subjected to reality checks - he HAS to do debates (and rejected ABC''s offer already), but what about press access or interviews by media other than Glamour Magazine? He''s doing meets and greets on his bus tour and maybe a couple of town halls, but what about town halls with John McCain?

pt 1

My final thought on Barack''s speech I guess is that politicians make all these pledges and hope to get us all to believe that what they are promising they can actually deliver, but that the tools of persuasion each of them uses can come in various forms and I''m not sure whether some are more credible than others.

Like politicians with a record of experience can tout their record without actually citing specifics of that record because in this era of impatience with Washington and partisanship, longevity counts for something in and of itself.

Military backgrounds also count for a lot, especially being a former POW. Because only somebody with a tremendous sense of patriotism, duty, and self-sacrifice could endure that experience - all qualities in short supply we believe in Washington.

Even status can confer deference so powerful people ignore evidence that runs counter to a President''s claims - even US Senators are susceptible to being persuaded by status apparently (?)

So what is it that Barack is relying on to inspire so much confidence in people that he can actually succeed at achieving what he''s claiming to be able to achieve - get Iran to drop their nukes (even though everybody seems to accept that we don''t have the leverage to make it happen), usher in energy independence within 10 years (even though he''ll only be in office for 8), capture Bin Laden (even though he''s apparently hiding in sovereign Pakistan), etc?

Like it would be one thing if people were saying they were skeptical of all the politicians'' claims and that they were willing to take that leap of faith because the GOP had their shot or whatever, but I get the sense that people actually believe Barack when he says he''s going to accomplish something (?)

That kind of scares me because it''s so easy to get swept away by that vision of how great life could be - it happened to me in the primaries! And because Presidents have so much power, don''t we sort of owe it to ourselves to be sure his rhetoric has a good grounding in reality (?) Same goes for Magoo . . .

It''s easy to get swept up in the moment of promise when Barack talks, but we know him better than we knew him 3 months ago, and now when I hear him I''ve got in mind that he''s got the ability to say something completely contradictory to his actions. Like claiming was against the war in Iraq based on but he wants to escalate in Afghanistan, the difference being principle, which imo is bogus . . .

The triangulation was off the charts tonight - at least he wasn''t doing the double-talk thing.

Eager to hear the Republican rebuttals . . .

Yeah, all those great speeches made by all those RICH people claiming that the RICH people are stealing from the poor people! At an event that cost $70,000,000 provided by RICH CORPORATIONS! And secret service security to the tune of $millions by your tax dollar!

It was just AWE INSPIRING wasn''t it...the hypocrisy, I mean!

I think you''re confused. For anyone that isn''t rich - let''s give John the beneifit of the dought and say $2.5 mil per year - george w bush has made the sale for Obama. It will come down to republicans yanking the fear chain from here to November. will people go for it again? they say McCain is getting 90% of the republican bush vote, that''s why he''s changed positions to match bush. So 90% of republicans are gatting what they want from GWB. Do they know he''s borrowing money from china to pay for mercinaries in Iraq? that''s what blackwater is right?

"the clear winner of the popular vote in the Dem primaries was Hillary"

You have to use some VERY SELECTIVE counting to come to that conclusion. For one, you have to IGNORE all the caucuses, then you have to include FL, where Hilary ran unopposed, and you have to exclude various other states. In other words: you have to LIE.

It seems like the repugs REALLY want to try to keep the democrats divided. Divide and conquor, that''s the ONLY way they can win ''cause their man is a senile, cancer-ridden, old f@rt who keeps flip-flopping on every single issue, and is hated by most of the other politicos in his own party. (And, no doubt, is hated by his own wife. How could she NOT hate him, after he called her a **** in public because he didn''t like the way she looked?)

If you don''t plan to live any longer than John McCain (and that ain''t long!), and you don''t give a dammm about the rest of the world, then go ahead and vote for McCain, the "common man" who owns so many houses that he can''t even remember them all!
