National Review: The Mainstream Media Still Doesn't Get His Appeal
"We don''t pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes ..."
~ Leona Helmsley (a famous and very typical Republican)- Reply to this comment
- When it comes to describing conservative Republican attitudes in general, I might also justifiably have added to my previous post:
...disgustingly selfish, sickeningly greedy, entirely self-centered, pathologically uncharitable, always self-serving, all too often dishonest, morally bankrupt, ethically challenged, chronically short-sighted, socially regressive, proudly arrogant, needlessly vicious and utterly narcissistic in the extreme.
If I had to pick someone that I thought perfectly personified the typical conservative Republican, it would probably have to be Leona Helmsley, the "Queen of Mean", who was convicted of federal income tax evasion and other crimes, and who left, in her will, $12 million dollars to her dog (along with instructions that a trust valued at $5 billion to $8 billion be used to benefit dogs) and yet left nothing at all to two of her own grandchildren, and would never have droppeso much as a single dime in any charity collection box even if her very life depended on it.
That about sums up your typical Ruch Limbaugh conservative Republican, I think. - Reply to this comment
- Lets not forget that Jesus was a "liberal", not a "conservative".
And Rush and all his buddies would have happily nailed his "lib a*s*s" up to a cross in a heartbeat.
That''s the kind of people that these "conservatives" are. Hateful, angry little neo-nazi skinheads in disguise. - Reply to this comment
- We get his appeal. Anyone who has seen the prescient 1976 movie "Network" understands what Rush is all about. He is about the decline of political discourse in favor of entertainment masquerading as information. Truly he is the "lowest common denominator", driving America into the ground. But hey- he got rich doing it, so who cares?
Rush is nothing more than Howard Beale. - Reply to this comment

- 20 years and only one drug conviction!!!"How is that possible???"Actually that one conviction didn''t surprise me. The first time I listened to him or Al Franken I just naturally assumed they were on something.

- My mother-in-law used to videotape Rush Limbaugh''s show. Then God struck her VCR with lightning. I guess that tells you something.

- when the dust settles I think the liberals will thank Rush and his legacy will ultimately be helping undermine the neocon movement by giving it an ugly public face.
