National Review: Perhaps McCain Shouldn't Have Been So Emphatic That His Rival Make The Trip
- If Obama had his way back in March he wouldn''t have been able to make this trip today! He was wrong then and he is wrong now. What''s ironic is he thinks his statements somehow matter at all at this point, no thanks to him, in the Iraq conflict.

- Barack Obama views, before the surge:
%u201CI am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse.%u201D

- The facts on the ground, to the whole American public other than raving, drooling neocon warlords, is that Iraq is unrelated to the war on the al quaeda terrorists and needs to be ended so we can get on with the real war in Afghanistan. The Bush/Cheney neocons are about to suffer the humiliation of being the first conquerors in history to be peacefully thrown out of their subject country while still occupying it...

- Hail Barcak Hussein Obama, the conquering "hero'' who never held a REAL job in his life, except as community activist, now spends two whole days in the Middle East. I guess that, plus his 143 days in the US Senate doing absolutely NOTHING for the American people qualifies him for the White House. I''m sorry, I meant the soon to be "White Mosque"!

What a maroon. If Obamalamadingdong wins in November, It''ll be an unfortunate time to be an American. I''d say take that to the bank.... but you won''t have much after the Marxist takes all your money. - Reply to this comment
- Isn''t it amazing? Admiral Michael Mullen and Gen. David Petraeus agree with Bush. Maybe they want to keep their jobs. They have seen what happens to others who didn''t agree with the Smirkinator.
When the Iraqis are given a no nonsense timetable to get their act together, they will do it. Sometimes the best way to teach someone to swim is to throw them in the creek. - Reply to this comment
- An aside: I''ve noticed a new speak I''ve never seen before in this article, ''battle space'' rather than what it really is... a battlefield or perhaps a combat zone.

- Everything that McCain says and does just seems to backfire on him in the end. I can''t help but believe that the same would be true if he were elected President.
Obama, on the other hand, seems to be golden. He can apparently do no wrong. The majority of American voters love him, and the world in general seems to much prefer Obama over McCain.
It''s certainly not hard to see the writing on the wall this election cycle. Obama''s going to walk away from this one with the grand prize, in a landslide.
It shows that there is still hope for America to regain it''s position of respect in the world, despite the incredible damage done by Bush and the GOP over the last decade. - Reply to this comment
- Being a former emperor, king or POW does not qualify one to be a president. The person has to be CURRENT on issues facing the world today. McSame seems to be living only in the past and even today, is unable to differentiate between the different groups in Iraq, does not know anything about the economy, nor anything about technology!! How can one expect him to be able to handle the problems facing us Americans today??? Sure, nothing is written in stone, but difficult issues facing us today have to be dealt with accordingly and if Obama is courageous enough to tweak his stance here and there to adapt to changed circumstances, so be it. This does not mean he is changing his stance, just dealing with fluid situations, and that is a sign of a good leader who can adapt to changes in order to make the best solutions, rather than stick to an unworkable stance. This is what McCain/Lieberman is trying to do. One can see why the rest of the world is so keen to see new leadership in someone like Obama rather than the old guards who will drag us down the same old road of destruction.

- Military experience does NOT translate into experience in International Diplomacy as McWarmonger so often proves. The military is NOT the agency that we want conducting our diplomatic affairs ... their natural perspective is simply NOT one that well-serves our nation''s best interests in International Affairs. McThuselah is still stuck in the past century while still trying to peddle his message of listening to the commanders on the ground nonsense! He wants to focus on THE ESCALATION OF THE WAR while calling it a ''surge''. The term surge is woefully mis-used on this military escalation ... look up the word surge ... it doesn''t fit here!
