The Nation: The President Realized The Energy Problem In 2001. So Why Wasn't Action Taken?
- You know the comment comes from an utterly insane foaming-at-the-mouth neocon when the accusations of liberals "supporting terrorism" appear. How pathetically absurd.
Poor, clueless neocons. They want to try to blame everything THEY have done wrong on the liberals. It''s a good thing that 85% of the country clearly knows who really deserves the blame: the neocons themselves.
Neocons are political Neanderthals rapidly heading for political extinction. - Reply to this comment
- More sick Liberal hypocrisy. The war in Iraq would have long been over if not for the Liberals supporting the terrorists - and that''s why Iran knows they can get away with anything they want.
The terrorists, fanatics, and genocidal despots out there know that the UN won''t stand up to them. And now they know that the US won''t either. Welcome to the ObamiNation. - Reply to this comment
- I knew when he started his campaign waaaaaaaaay back in his seedling shrub days and he saw my service dog and wondered if that was one of them thar EYE WATCHING DOGS, I knew he was the clown prince of politics, especially in dealing with the parameters of reality. He figures just giving energy a thought or two a day means its all done and fixed. Good fortune in Paraguay king george.

- Thank you Michael T. Klare for putting into words what I can''t.
My input: A vote for McCain ensures continued war in the Middle East, either by us or Israel.
More input: It''s pathetic on how many lives were lost due to the Cheney (acting president)/Bush (yes man to Cheney) failed energy policy.
Here''s one lost out of many:

- Posted by joyous88 at 11:38 AM : Jun 21, 2008---- The President has signed every year but this one the moratorium against off shore drilling. Same as President Clinton, same as President H W Bush. This is why I frequently point out that Neocons and Neolibs are the ones who have us all at each others throats as to why I put my emphasis in caps in my last post. The result of what they do is equivalent,.....and makes President Lincoln a much wiser man in my eyes than I had previously thought. Makes me wonder if the story we have been told as to the wheres and whys of Lincolns assassination are only a veneering.....I really hate thinking these kind of things. There is a verse in the Bible I read that "used to" baffle me in Ecclesiastes 1:18 - For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow......I''m not baffled anymore, but feel as though I''d rather be that than sorry for my country''s sake......You all have a nice day,...I''m going to try to be happy working in the garden.

- "The money power preys upon the nation in times of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy. I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign BY WORKING UPON THE PREJUDICES OF THE PEOPLE, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the republic destroyed." - Abraham Lincoln, November 21, 1864, a letter to William F. Elkins (emphases in caps mine to make a thinking point)

- The impact of Bush''s expansion of the U.S. federal debt should also be considered. Bush has doubled that debt, to $10 trillion. He also encouraged low Fed interest rates in the early 2000''s, effectively hoodwinking ordinary Americans into thinking they were richer than they were, resulting in a huge expansion of their personal debt, to about $10 trillion today as well.
The global smart money was already getting leery of America''s abilities to deal with her many debts when Bush became president. As a result of these debt expansions, they grew frantic to get OUT of dollars and into something with some actual value, like oil. Thus, the flight from the dollar has aided the run up in the price of oil. As the only victim in all this is the American middle class, I doubt that the Bush crowd much cares how its played out. The reason he cut taxes and expanded personal debt through low interest rates was to win re-election anyway (by convincing gullible Americans that their economy was worth more than it was). As Bush would say, ''MISSION ACCOMPLISHED''. - Reply to this comment
