National Review Online: His Now Apparent Weaknesses May Prove Debilitating

recruiting goals: it''s well known that they''ve made it up by lowering the entrance standards. It might be a drop in the bucket so far, but over time the quality of the military will suffer for it.
As for your, "... clear thinking patruiots who ... will not let politics dictate over common sense."
Give us a break. No one has used this whole mess for politics more than Bush, Cheney & Company have. (I do like the nickname, Patruiots, though. Sounds like something Bush would mangle.
Remember that footage of Andy Card whispering in Bush''s ear while he (Bush) was reading to schoolkids as the WTC collapsed? Card said, "Sir, you''ve just been handed the next election." Certainly, that''s the way they''ve played it to the present day. - Reply to this comment
- I was waiting for the argument to back up the claim that "Obama%u2019s now-apparent weaknesses may prove to be debilitating", but none was made; apparently this essay is just a laundry list of the fantasy scenarios NRO would like to come true somehow. I thought it was the job of a partisan journalist to conduct the intellectual exercise of making a case, but I suppose when your guy is McCain your opposition''s wish list of dream scenarios is plausible enough not to want to open up the subject too wide...

- rafterman, I will stop calling terrorist supporting leftwing loons ungrateful when they stop calling fellow conservative Americans fascists and nazis.

- rafterman, apparently you make things up as you go, the fact of the matter is not only are the armed forces making their recruiting goals they are surpassing them. This is incredible considering there is a war going on. Thank goodness there arte people that understand the importance of success in Iraq, that are not egenda driven to lose out of petty political gain. I personally have talked to at least 20 returning soldiers over the last four years and one of the biggest frustrations for them is the way the media and liberal democrats have portrayed and characterized their efforts. I always tellthem there are still clear thinking patruiots who underrstand the stakes and will not let politics dictate over common sense and their efforts.

So what? You neoconazis have no idea how much you are despised out here in the real world. We''re on to you. I can''t wait for the war crimes tribunals begin. You''re history. - Reply to this comment
- Posted by notblue: Do you ever ask yourself why these volunteer soldioers re-up two sometimes three times?
Actually a lot of times it comes down to money; by enlisting instead of going to college, when these soldiers come back home they can''t find a job that will pay them a livable salary and find that the only way they can support themselves or their family is to reinlist.
Sorry to burst your bubble notblue, but you''ve been lied to; this isn''t a noble cause, it''s one born of arrogance, greed, and self-deception. - Reply to this comment
- noyalista, have you ever talked to any volunteer soldier who has returned from Iraq? I talked to one I have known personally for the last 18 years, he stated just a week ago upon arriving home from Iraq that we are winning. Do you ever ask yourself why these volunteer soldioers re-up two sometimes three times? It''s because the cause is noble and despite hateful brainwashed ingrates like your self they know we are winning.

- These little pre-emptive strikes like this article are nothing compared to what is to come. We, as Americans, are somewhat used to dirty politics but in the months to come we will see a new standard set. The use of Joseph Gobbels style tactics will dominate the republican campaign style. The larger the lie, the more often it is told, the more likely that it will be believed. There are a vast number of voters that will not do any research to find out for themselves if something is true or not. There seems to be a tendency for people to believe the worst and you can bet that the republicans have some whoppers in store. With the technology we have today it is so easy to manipulate any kind of media and twist it to say what you want it to say. If the democrats want to win this time they are going to have to stand up and fight instead of acting like they have in the last two elections. This is more than a political contest..the future of the country is at steak. Come on dems...it''s worth fighting for.

- Given the chance to offer intelligent criticism of a conservative journal article, we get gloating before accomplishment, political name calling, poo-poo jokes, and making fun of a person''s name. (By the way, you DID see the article about the NY Democrat yesterday whose name actually IS "Weiner". Did you make fun of him, too?)
In any case.......any of you could have written that without even reading the article. I suppose you don''t have any intelligent criticism to offer? - Reply to this comment
- I suppose if I had a name like Peter Weiner I''d be as nasty as this monkey is.

- Why is the National Review such a neo con enabler mouthpiece? They must be making lots of money on the mindless senseless GOP killing of our soldiers and of our country. Do they not realize they are complicit in this disaster by being critical of Obama while the fascist Grand Oil Party has as their candidate a fascist bush clone?

- Every neocon from coast to coast will need a box of "Depends" in November, or the stink will cause all of us to gag!!
That much is obvious. This writer here wants to sound a hopeful note in Obama''s failure, thinking it will boost McCain. He does nothing to make us feel better about McCain himself, only about bad things happening to Obama.
Typical fear and distract tactics from a typical republican writing from a typical right wing "news" organization.
Nothing new here. Next! - Reply to this comment
