Capitalism and health care is a bad combination. If we can''''t get a single payer national system let''''s at least have medicare for all and a regulated insurance industry can sell us the supplemental policies.

Are you kidding? The WHOLE purpose do Capitalism is in direct conflict with good health care. Capitalist want to rid themselves of every human that is NOT necessary to make the most profit possible. That is 180 degrees away from what Health Care is about.

Ref your comment:
Nationalize all health care, and raise taxes accordingly to pay for it. Any other "solution" will only prolong the agony.

You do not need an increase in taxes. Go to my site
http://www.universalhealthcareinfousa.com
check out the math. Stay with it - its long.
Then ask "what do we get with our taxes?"

It is obvious to all that the current system is the worst there could be! It is just plain stupid to have an "insurance" system where the only driver is for the companies providing "insurance" to make as much money as possible...this is just plain crazy!
It has been traditional for all time for governments, whether kings, Pharohs, Republics, or Dictatorships to be responsible to provide for the care and suffering of the people in their realm! Hence the Pharohs "taxed" the citizens 1/7 of their crops to feed the people when the crops failed...about every 7 years...and one inovation for modern times...those kings and pharohs often lost their heads when they failed!
The greed and misguided ideology of current systems is cruel and not working...it needs to be scrapped!!

There is already little competition among health insurers. Consolidations have left us with only about a half dozen national insurers, with more and more local and regional insurers being swallowed up by the big nationals, United Health Care and Anthem in particular.

They are already colluding. I am health insurance licensed, and when I get quotes, there are rarely differences of more than $5-$10/mo between different insurers for the same coverage.

Want REAL competition? Make the private insurers compete with a publicly offered plan. Like the one that all Federal employees get.

Bring back elementary school nurses and maybe even clinics that provide vaccines and basic health including antibiotics. No designer drugs, condoms, *** ed. just basic health with NO liability. Bring in some old school nurses from Russia. If parents want to send their kids to free public health they shouldn''t be able to sue the govt. for malpractice.

I think we should go back to the basic public health model that would not include addiction treatment otherwise the places would be overrun with riffraff constantly. Just the basics and let people buy insurance for the rest.
