The Nation: Sermon Excerpts From Rev. Jeremiah Wright Damage Credibility Of The Senator
- element 51...i was not referring to the article, but to the television coverage. i am a hillary supporter for any number of reasons. i have done my share of protesting injustice; marched in chicago (as a child), washington d.c. and milwaukee. racism, gender bias and women''s issues, to say nothing of unjust wars. obama is not my choice, but that was not my point. it is the role of mass media as an influence rather than an illumination of truth. no one has handed my candidate the presidency, tho i am sure mc cain supporters are indeed delighted, i am deeply saddened by this issue.

- We need to get past this narrow minded character assassination that the mainstream media seems to think we all want to read and hear.
Let''s focus on the issues and try to decide what is best for our country. Do we want more of the same as in McBush and Billary or do we want to go in a new direction? Before it is really too late. - Reply to this comment
- You people remind me of a bunch of kids playing bogeyman. You are just scaring yourselves silly. This isn''t Kansas anymore, dorothy. The minister is right! We lied our way into a way on Iraq; we lied our way into a war in Vietnam; neither of those was a war against whites. We allow Darfur genocide; they aren''t white. We used legalized slavery of Africans to build the economic engines of America; they weren''t white. We imprisoned the native americans of this land, uprooted them, drove them into reservations far from their homelands and continue to this day to treat them as second class citizens; they weren''t white. We build fences of metal and stone and wood along our southern borders to repel those who seek a better life; they aren''t white, either. Grow up, smell the coffee.

- SamTheTVCat...You are right. I do tend to be a little dramatic at times. It''s just that I care so much about my country and I believe that we are at a cross roads with the upcoming election. I think it is a terrible thing when a good man is trashed over something like this. No one said a word when that Hagee guy came out for McCain and Hagee has made statements just as bad as Obama''s pastor did. Why is that? Why no outrage about that? As a history teacher for 27 years I have a little knowledge about the Great Depression and frankly I don''t think we can recover if things go that far. We need change and I think Obama was our best shot for that change. So where do we go now? Only time will tell. Sorry for being so emotional but when you get old sometimes that happens.

- SamTheTVCat...Did you actually read my post? If you did you totally took my vampire comment out of context. What I meant was that this story was like putting a stake through a vimpires heart. It killed Obama''s campaign. My God man, I''m devastated by this. I see this as an end to a good man''s campaign because you can bet that the republicans will use this over and over against Obama. Please re-read my post and maybe you will be able to see that my candidate has been eliminated. And now we will have four more years, (at least) of bush type leadership. Is that what you want? I have looked in detail at Obama''s record both in Illinois and in the Senate. It is a very very good record and if people would just take the time to investigate they would see that. He has written, co-written and sponsored excellent bills and has been consistant with his word right down the line. And he is being systematically destroyed by both Clinton and McCain. Not to mention how his election would improve our image with the rest of the world. Our repution among the other countries around the world is the worst it has ever been. We are the butt of their jokes. He would have shown that America is a force for good.
