but America didn''''t have ANY federal taxes until 1913, and at that time, we were the greatest nation on earth

And every bit of Government grew out of that simple ''income tax''? Wrong!!! The agencys were for the most part already there in one form or another, looking for funding. That is the reason for the new tax. once it was finalized Big Government was being born, It took time to set up, it will take a lot more time to undo because there are so many threads running through our society. Some can''t be simply ''cut'' without "TRAGIC" results. They will have to be dissolved slowly.

It has given government a claim on our lives and work, destroying our privacy in the process. It takes billions of dollars out of the legitimate private economy, with most Americans giving more than a third of everything they make to the federal government. This economic drain destroys jobs and penalizes productive behavior.--RP

Multinational private corporations have destroyed privacy. They lobbied and demanded access to our SS numbers throwing them recklessly about in multinational corporate data bases. Private corporations go around the world soliciting cheaper labor, pitting people with lesser standards of living against american living standards.

Ron Paul may have criticisms of corporations but his beliefs support corporate values.

Before 1913 with a "smaller" federal government. Workers worked many many hours to make ends meet. They worked in unsafe conditions, meat packing plants were diseased places, sweat shops existed on U.S. soil, not the ones corporations profit from out of China.

It is scary when people latch onto either a preacher man or a one man political show to guide them to the promised land.

This does have a cultish religious fervor about this but if the United States is to be no longer, it''s fate will be met through the folly of its citizens.

As far as April 19th is concerned, with no direspect for those touched by the Oklahoma City bombing, and those who lost loved ones in Waco Tx, and anything else horrific that happened on that day to the beginning of time, If the Ron Paul supporters want to celebrate the battle of lexington and concord with another "money bomb" I say let it rip. I hate "political correctness" and any reference to any idea that the word "bomb" shouldnt be referenced to makes about as much sense as being afraid to use the word "airline" or "twin" or "tower" or maybe the mention of a "box cutter" might offend someone who lost their loved ones Sept 11th. Terrible things happen to people it shouldnt, its not right, its not fair, and in the blink of an eye it could happen to any one of us. In a perfect world people shouldnt resort to violence for political means. But to have the mind set that people should modify the words they use because somebody might take offense is utter garbage. I for one hate political correctness, I think its a disease. This truly is a Revolution, its not an advertising gimmick, and trust me its not a passing phase or fad. People like you and I are making history, and the rest of the world is watching. Can America save itself? We''re trying like hell, and we just might hurt a few peoples feelings in the process.

taxguydave: You don''t get it. The rich, the truly rich, already have ways of avoiding taxes, and they make money mostly via capital gains, NOT earned income. Their taxes are already flat, but most people don''t realize this. There are other ways to help the poor than through a meandering tax system.

"TST The Case Againt the Income Tax"

Nothing explains why the income tax came to pass with the 16th amendment. What the conditions of the nation were and what the advocates of it believed.

I was almost sold on this talk last winter stumbling onto the rumblings of those in favor of a ban on both the web and some gold bug materials I encountered.

This almost seems like another welfare queen marketing tactic. This is the source of all your woes. Get rid of the income tax.

I say clean Washington D.C. up. It has become a den of multi-national corporate thieves who lobby and advance their private multi-national corporate interests ahead of the people of the United States.

Ban the lobbyists and their lucrative bribes.

I beg to differ. ''Tariffs'' are still in place, but now they have different names, "excise tax", "Sales tax", "Import/export tax", "Gasoline tax", Etc,Etc...Taxes haven''t changed much except to go up and procreate..
