National Review Online: GOP Long-Shot Highly Admired By His Fans, But Has Inconsistent Principles
- Let me address the writer''s comments one by one:
1. I can''t say I fully know about the Scooter Libby case, but I will say this: our current foreign policy is not merely opinion; it is unconstitutional. Our armed services were intended to protect this soil from invasion, not to pre-emptively strike other countries in case they attack us. So I fully support Ron Paul''s stance on foreign policy, as it is the ONLY constitutional one.

Posted by phil-in-Fin at 06:01 PM : Nov 18, 200---------------------------------------------------------------OK, not much of an answer but I can start from there and mix it with the article''s spin.........A Roman statesman named Cicero in 42 B.C. said this....."A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor, he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared"..........Does this sound like Dr. Paul, or someone else? - Reply to this comment
- phil-in-Fin: earlier you espoused that I was in some way a derivative of a ''_Prophet'' commenter, and your hunch is misguided. I am not affiliated with anyone, just so you know.
Let me explain about the Ron Paul hype:
A lot of people (like myself) are glad to see that there is a person who actually answers the ASKED questions in a debate, who has a long voting record that is consistent with what he argues, and who applies a simple formula that all politicians should use: "Is it Constitutional?"
When inconsequential journalists are behind the curve of public opinion, there is a movement to self-promote the candidate or idea. People don''t care anymore about headlines such as "Hillary thinks she won a debate."
We want someone who can radically get us back to a constitutional system of checks and balances, someone with integrity (including marriage to their promised lifelong partner).
Because so many people are behind Ron Paul''s ideas, and because there is so much resistance from the fat and happy, many supporters are speaking up. Hillary would kill for that kind of support. - Reply to this comment

And here is one example, posted by veteran71, and obvious Paulbot%u2026
I speak the truth, and I say our Nation and it''''s Constitution, are in dire peril
of being destroyed for all time, and very soon now, we''''ll all be faced with very hard choices, like maybe having to take up arms against the Fascists which control the Courts, Military, and Police. These have been packed with brainwashed people of low intelligence, that will carry out orders to use deadly force against their fellow Americans, not realizing they are being used and lied to.
While the Ruling Elite huddle safely in their bunkers,
war will be waged by Patriots against Idiots, those who''''ve been convinced it is American Citizens and Veterans who are the enemy. Just look how they prevented veterans from speaking out against this Illegal War and Occupation for Profit on Veterans Day. That''''s how Bushco honors Veterans on Veterans Day now, by silencing them, by refusing their right to free speach and assembly, that which they fought to preserve for ALL Americans. You think we aren''''t in trouble?? Think we aren''''t about to lose our Nation to Fascists?? It''''s happening right now before your eyes, and yet you still don''''t see. - Reply to this comment
- I have less a problem with Paul and his priciples than I do with the media that seems hell-bent to say something... anything negative they can against him.
At this moment, all the nagativity coming from the media is enough to convince many that Paul is their candidate! - Reply to this comment
- Ron Paul advocated assasissination and coup d''etat.
Did I miss something or are you getting a bit creative? - Reply to this comment

- I donated to Ron Paul''s campaign on the 5th of November. Ron Paul''s website did not ask me about my political opinions. The website did not request that I clear the act with Michael Medved. It just took my money. Mona, if I had only known!

- Voting for Ron Paul would be just like being able to vote for one of our countries founding fathers......he follows the Constitution that they authored that closely. What more could a voter expect to hope for in a presidential candidate?

- Pro-Israel rag isn''t necessarily anti-jewish is it? Can''t you be pro-jew and not support Israel 100$ of the time?

- Maybe..and maybe the candidate at that time will have the integrity and courage to refuse support from the Stormfronts, the 9/11 conspiracy types, the anti-Semites, and the KKK.

- Maybe Ron Paul is about 50 years ahead of his time. Eventually entitlements will bankrupt America. We''ll go through a long drawn out horrible depression and begin a Ron Paul type republic.

- No standlee, thats not it. Read the post by your fellow Ron aPAULogist "logicanada"..here''s his post;
"Mona Charen. Hmmmmmm, nice name!
Never heard of you before.
Could it be that you''''re just another attention seeking Jewish-American princess scratching her way up the ladder of success at that pathetic, thinly veiled pro Israel rag.
There is a reason you are inundated with mail supporting Ron Paul.
Can you think what that reason is?
....and as for who your candidate is....Ariel Sharon probably"
It reeks of anti-Semitism..I''m not surprised though that you as a PAULbot couldnt be bothered to actually read throught the posts though before attacking. - Reply to this comment

Reading the responses by the Ron aPAULogists. shows reason enough why this man isnt worthy to be dog catcher, much less POTUS. - Reply to this comment
- Mona,
No, I am not a young white male but a 47 year old Hispanic female. Ron Paul''s message resonates with people of all age groups and backgrounds. If you look at the debates, Ron Paul said that he believes in nonintervention, with regard to sending our young American troops to foreign nations. Instead, he advocates diplomacy, travel and friendly trade with other nations. Next-time, do your homework first to get an accurate account. Otherwise your writing would not be considered journalism but baseless lies. - Reply to this comment
