The Nation: Across The Atlantic, Britons View The U.S. As A Little Brother Gone Astray
- The last 6 years have been one long nightmare. I have watched this nation go from meandering on mediocrity to wallowing in ignorance in less than a decade. The perfect downfall was waiting for us right around the 2000 elections when we elected a looser instead of a statesman. We elected a swindler, lying, scum bag on empty promises and greedy eyes on the big prize. We should be ashamed of ourselves, yet we continue to bully everyone else in the world like we are some hot shot country.

- Its amazing that someone who comes from a country that not only elected Tony Blair but re-elected Tony Blair could have anything critical to say about another country. You should really be asking yourself how did you allow your own country to be ruined, not how did America come to this low point in its history. Fly in to Heathrow if you want an example of George Orwell''s vision. Armed security guards with assault rifles screaming at little old ladies who are cowering in fear, lineups over half a mile long and not one person raising their voice in frustration. England is a poor, pitiful joke of a country so it is no wonder they have no clue about what kind of leader they want.
The U.S. will eventually find its way out of this mess, but England is forever condemned to be ruled by short-sighted, dim-witted, aristocrats who think they know more than the miserable prolitariats who inhabit their island. - Reply to this comment

- Typical leftwing dribble. The left in this country have the misguided impression that the majority of Americans are in agreement with there extreme views which are pascfist and defeatist. This couldn''t be farther from the true reality. Then to believe the liberals know what the English opinion of America is typical of this false misguided view. This ongoing rationalization that other countires agree with there ideology is the only thing that gives them this false "selfperceived" relevance.

- "By the way, England, thank you for your protest march against Baby Bush''''s "plan". At least you tried."
To paraphrase the headline of The Sun newspaper in England:
"One million war protestors march on London.
69 million stay at home".
Even as someone who lives in Britain, I find the patronising tone of this article offensive. It is incorrect to suggest that US citizens were "asleep at the wheel" whilst a sage-like British public knew better and opposed the war.
I advise Americans not to feel guilty at the (restrospective) wisdom of the British.
I need hardly remind the author that, like the Americans, we vote to return to power the government that waged war on Iraq. Therein lies the true measure of the nation''s good sense. I invite others to draw their own conclusions... - Reply to this comment
