CBS is basically an arm of the DNC. So is CNN, NBC, and ABC, along with Public Radio. Most conservatives don't watch these shams, so most of us aren't posting here. I like to post here because it's easy, fun, and it's fun to stir things up in Liberaland. ... Posted by hawksprings at 06:11 PM : Jul 22, 2007

So I guess that leaves Faux Noise for the neocons as their only source of information. Hannity, Limpballs, O'Really?, blah, blah, blah.

Actually, the media has been very kind to the Bush administration, in fact, even a little intimidated by the Bush neocons. Had the media been doing their jobs we wouldn't be in this mess.

Had the media been doing their jobs, they would have exposed Bush for the bumbling fool that he is BEFORE the 2000 elections. But no, they didn't and so it was the BBC that exposed the fraud in the election.

Anyone who says the media is biased must be feeling the heat of the TRUTH. TRUTH will prevail eventually.

It's beyond time that Congress (and by that I mean the Republican obstructionists) realise this and stop funding this illegal and immoral war and redeploy the troops into Afghanistan to fight the REAL war on terror. THAT is where any further attacks on America will originate, NOT in Iraq where more and more extremists are being born for every day we occupy the country.

Let's get real here, ok? There is plenty of blame for this war for everyone. From the Administration who esentially lied to Congress and the American people by picking over the intelligence and then leaking this mis-information to the press... Posted by bkcarter87 at 05:12 PM : Jul 22, 2007

You can NOT blame me! I, like the majority of Americans, did NOT vote for Bush in 2000. And I NEVER bought into his ********* story about WMD. I can, however, recommend some books that might shed some light (for you) on the chain of events that led up to the "undeclared war" on Iraq.

I give you partial credit for "...the Administration who esentially lied to Congress..." Strike the word "essentially." (2 "ss" dude. Plus your sentences are way too long for my pea-picker brain to follow.)

The New York Times had more to say about this today too.

The Constitution authorizes Congress to appropriate money for an army, but prohibits appropriations for longer than two years. Hamilton explained that the limitation prevented Congress from vesting %u201Cin the executive department permanent funds for the support of an army, if they were even incautious enough to be willing to repose in it so improper a confidence.%u201D

The founders were particularly wary of giving the president power over war. They were haunted by Europe%u2019s history of conflicts started by self-aggrandizing kings. John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States, noted in Federalist No. 4 that %u201Cabsolute monarchs will often make war when their nations are to get nothing by it, but for the purposes and objects merely personal.%u201D

The Constitutions framers "were revolutionaries who detested kings, and their great concern when they established the United States was that they not accidentally create a kingdom. To guard against it, they sharply limited presidential authority ..."

So when Bush claims imperial powers, he is bucking history and going directly against what the founding members of this country had in mind, regardless of what he wants everyone to believe.

History has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was the right thing to do just like history is going to prove President Bush did the right thing by liberating 50 million people in two countries that were slaughtering their own people. Posted by IrishPM2 at 01:46 PM : Jul 22, 2007

Why would liberating people who were doing the slaughtering be the right thing to do?

Your words, not mine. You are confused...

IrishPM2, you cast a very black cloud over the otherwise very beautiful Emerald Isle. I doubt very seriously that ANYONE in Ireland supports Bush. In fact, Dublin is known for its "STOP BUSH" rallies.

I'd also like him to explain, for a matter of record, just exactly what Bill Clinton did to deter or answer for attack on or soil (WTC 1993), Khobar towers, USS Cole, etc.
Tongue tied? Posted by IrishPM2

For starters, Clinton's administration convicted ten radical Islam extremists (you know...terroritsts) for the '93 WTC bombing. As I recall, he wanted to go after more but the retardded republican congress wouldn't let him.

Other than William Krar (a WHITE guy) of Noonday, TX, how many Muslim terrorists did Ashcroft convict? ZERO!!!

Our government has been hijacked by a warmongering democrat/republican duopoly controlled by greed and big money.
Congress is nothing more than a safe-house for criminals and prostitutes.
People who profit from war and imprisonment are now running America(into the ground).
But who cares?
We've got plenty of celebrities and sports to be worried about.

"If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." - James Madison

"Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of American, cannot succeed with any lesser effort."
- President John F. Kennedy, January 29, 1961

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!" - Ben Franklin

Both parties believe that Congress is more like Britain's House of Lords where entry is an entitlement, longevity assured, and right of ascension reserved for hand picked off spring.

You hit the nail squarely on the head. You can add the presidency to that, too, with the 12 years Bush dynasty and the looming Clinton dynasty.

It's bad enough that we have the dynasties. But they bring their neo-con or neo-liberal idealists who don't have a clue what democracy is supposed to be about and probably never heard of James Madison.

I agree with "fredhetz." What Clinton did was wrong; but at least it was a personal thing. He was not trampling on people's rights, like this president is. The elder Bush did the same thing, and that is why he was only given one term. Of course, if you want to talk about no-nos, maybe we can look back at his days in Texas, when he was driving drunk under the protection of Alberto Gonzalez. Then we can look at his days in the National Guard, where nobody in his unit ever remembers seeing him.

One of the things that I find most sad is that there are those ... , but there don't seem to be Bush supporters....

Not so. Bush is the only person who can take responsibility for a messed up job on the Iraqi war. We should have had more troops initially on the ground, the borders should have been contained immediately, they should not have disbanded the Iraqi army. These are largle big mistakes at mismanagement. He had advisers around him that did not give him good advice. We can stil win this War now that we have an additional surge and it strikes me as strange that a single word can turn the meaning of a message here. When the Iraqis were voting, we sent it extra troops and then drew them down. This is now different. If we succeed in pacifying Bagdhad, something the Democrats are afraid of, then we can draw down our troops again. We will ultimately leave this War - how we do it will determine our success or failure. Clinton has done much to destroy the integrity of the Presidency and this Congress with all it's fanfare and theatrics is attempting to finish off the executive branch entirely. Do you want a Congress that will control all three branches of government? Don't you people see where this is heading? And you have Billary who has found a way to extend a Presidency beyond it's 8 year turn by have a tag team of husband and wife taking turns with the Presidency and leading us toward socialism. Be afraid, be very afraid.

God! What useless talk. This generation of sos called Americans are going to lose our Republic to the Militarists, the moneyed crowd the fanatics of the Right...and with a whimper America will be but a myth. Time to just IMPEACH this Mistake of the lied to, the manipulated, the unthinking, the lazy and just pitch bush and his cronies out for good. We are in a state of collapse as Russia and China smile behind Iran and this silly Islam jihad foolishness and simply wait as we die from a thousand cuts bleeding internally and externally as a broken and divided nation. Tragique. ROME of Virtue ends with a whimper if that at all.

When I read some of these blogs from people like "mudrose" I am just amazed at how some people can still be blinded and brainwashed. It must have something to do with money, or holding on to money. You would have to be a real fool not to see what is going on in this country today. Yes, I am sure I will be called a "left wingnut"; but the truth is I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am an American. The fact is, the American people are being ignored.

One of the things that I find most sad is that there are those of us who supported Clinton who can say that he was wrong for handling the Lewinski thing the way he did, but there don't seem to be Bush supporters on these forums who will even hint at him handling anything wrong.
