The Nation: Bush Reveals His Disdain For Accountability By Commuting Libby's Jail Sentence

It's fascinating how Republicans simply tell the same lie repeatedly, hoping that the braindead will buy the line of B.S.

"No underlying crime." Valerie Plame, a non-official cover, had a covert status. The CIA has consistently (including George Tenant) testified to her status. To knowingly and wittingly engage in a campaign to blow her cover constitutes a crime.

Fitzgerald did not prosecute Armitage for reasons easily discerned. He knows the identity of the original source of the leaks: he said as much in his statements about Libby. Why did Libby consistently and willfully lie to obstruct the investigation? If there existed no underlying crime why did he try to "throw sand in the face of the umpire" so that Fitzgerald couldn't see? Who was he protecting: the name would be Cheney.

Cheney equals the original underlying crime: Libby prosecuted for clear perjury to obstruct justice in the pursuit of said underlying criminal.

Big liars protect their little liars. That is what Resident Bush and Vice Resident Darth Cheney did with Pooper Scooter Libby.

How is it that all the Bush supporters do is point at Clinton? Bill Clinton was put through a very public ordeal for his alleged transgressions and the public deemed it so much over so very little. And his pardons were not the stuff of people approving his actions.

Yet he never pardoned anyone connected to the government who was closely associated with beginning a war built on some of the most outrageous lies in history.

I daresay the public isn't amused when lies gets us entangled in a war which has cost tens of thousands of civilians' lives, more than 3500 of our armed service personnel and billions of dollar not being spent to better serve our country. And the outing of a CIA agent isn't looked upon as a small deal.

The 'No Impeachment' pledge needs to come off the table... enough is enough. No country respects us and we are feared more in the world than any other country as a destabilizing force.

Little Georgie ran on a platform of accountability, restoring a sense of honor, honesty and decency in the White House. Yet the biggest political scandal in my lifetime is the Iraq War. Throw in Georgie's (and Cheney's) disdain for following international law, the Constitution, US laws, etc.

This administration's disregard for the law is historic, outlandish and extremely criminal.

It is time to impeach. Let's start with Cheney and then go for Bush. Bush will be crying to his Mommy once Cheney is gone.

A bad day for Bush and his people and I am glad of it!

Their little plan to betray the USA and people serving the US, have a lower-rung guy take the fall, then quietly pardon him at the end of the term--has backfired magnificently.

The impending prison term and court's denial of delay forced Bush to make a huge ugly gesture that is virtually a confession. They were very likely counting on delaying prison until the end of Bush's term, when he is likely to pardon huge numbers of crooks.

This provides great momentum to impeachment and removal efforts--stop him before he abuses his power more!

"That Valerie woman had no business being a spy for the CIA, and they did her a favor by outing her. Thank God!"
Oh neoconnie, I almost didn't see that one. Are you a time traveller from the 1950's or something? Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha.
Seriously though, you do know about all of the steps Bush has undertaken to undermine our constitutional government right? It's pretty bad. Oops! I forgot that republicans want to burn the constitution! How silly of me! Oh, one last thing, if in your opinion women shouldn't be spies, then what buisiness do you have writing anything, since you are a woman and you obviosly aren't a fan of equality. Now go and mend the stckings before your husband gets home, dear.

"I keep remembering that Clinton had s/x. Nothing President Bush has done could be as bad as that."
neoconnie: In order to say what you just posted you must have one twisted sense of morality. But actually, that's just typical for all of the Bible-thumpin', don't-like-no-learnin' Republican idiots and sleazebags out there. The Republican party has no morality. The next thing you're going to say is that what Mark Foley did wasn't as bad as what Clinton did either right?

Bill Clinton = 671 pardons 70 commuted sentences,
George Bush = 114 pardons 3 commuted sentences.

Don't forget GW's dad:

Pardoned the entire Iran-Contra gang.

My-my what selective memory loss some people have. Shameful...

Obviously Bush executed The White House Plan B when he commuted Libby's prison sentence. After the guilty verdict came down and the appeals to delay the prison sentence failed, Bush had no other choice short of a full pardon, which will probably come anyway. Otherwise, Libby would tell all and it is perfectly clear where that would go. So the fall guy will not fall anyway.

As for all you self-righteous good Republicans on here that seem to be able to justify just about anything by dragging Clinton into things every time you lack even the weakest of arguments for your band of thieves, realize that real law abiding Democrats and Independents were really upset about the pardons that Clinton gave as well.

That is more than can be said for you, so if you want to justify the actions of your neocons by saying Clinton did this or that and therefore it is all right for Bush you will just continue to sound like kindergartners chanting *** for tat while clearly stating your lack of simple reason and respect for the law and democracy that your party has become synonymous with. Clearly I have to spell it out for you - Two Wrongs Do Not Make a Right.

Getting tired of the neocon smirk as they chickenhawk our brothers and sisters into their endless war that is a result of Republican stupidity.
When is the world court going to investigate Cheney and Bush for war crimes?
When are the Democrats going to hold impeachment hearings to find out the facts?
