- zorlacskates: I'll do you one better, it is impossible to both believe in Democracy and defend Bush's actions concerning his abuses of power (Sadly, this commutation is not one of them, though it is not in the interest of America, but there are plaenty other examples that fit the bill). Let the fascists reveal themselves for once!

- Look how much dishonor Bush and Cheney have brought to the country. I didnt think it was possible for the general public to be any more cynical of government.

- who is this "clinton" everybody keeps referring to?
i, for one, find it a bit of a relief that libby got off. it is now impossible for bush to use words like "honor," "justice," "truth," or "rule of law" without looking like a horse's backside. you cannot simultaneously believe in the rule of law and defend bush's actions. have fun with this conundrum, bushies. - Reply to this comment
- "The prosecutor who now KNOWS who outed Plame is not prosecuting because NO laws were broken! Libby was a scapegoat that was punished because the Democrat's witch hunt could produce No others.
Clinton pardoned 670 comutted 70 that is TRUE CRONEISM! Bush has pardoned 114 comutted 4, what are you liberals crying about! Stop being so hipocritical!"

Just because the Republicans claim no laws were broken does not make it true. For prosecutors to prove that Valerie Plame's covert status was intentionally changed to non-covert before making her work with the CIA public thereby effectively outing her they would need to have an insider spill the beans. And prosecutors would never be able to get an insider to spill the beans so long as Bush was promising to use his pardon power to thwart accountability. So when people claim that 'no crime was committed', all they're saying is that yeah Bush has absolute power to make him and his crooked cronies above the law and I support his wrongdoing.
And I adore the Clintons, but they were equally suspect when it came to usage of the pardon power - together these past two presidents make a case for amending the Constitution to place limits on the Presidential pardon power . . . it's seriously being misused. - Reply to this comment
- "Although the jury disagreed, a reasonable person listening to the faulty memories of the witnesses who testified could have concluded that Libby simply had things mixed up."
Well if an unbiased jury of his peers after weighing all the evidence presented concluded that Scooter Libby was guilty BEYOND a reasonable doubt, how does the NRO figure that a reasonable person could have concluded that Libby simply had things mixed up? And if their belief that a pardon was called for is predicated on this belief, then aren't they flat out wrong? Yet again? lol ;) - Reply to this comment

- NRO: "There were a lot of reasons why presidential clemency was appropriate."
Perhaps foremost the need to keep Libby from spilling the beans to get out of jail early.
That would be an appropriate reason, in my view. Odd the NRO didn't mention it. - Reply to this comment
- This article is a joke and an insult to the American people and especially to the citizens who performed their civic duty as jurors during the Libby trial. It smells of Bill Kristol...
