cozzicon,we all have a health insurance story. I mean, we ALL have a health insurance story. I know our state has low income subsidized health insurance. The self-employed have always dealt with the dilemna and most hve figured out the system. The reality is, it's EXPENSIVE. Just like homes are expensive but you kow you're better off hving health insurance and living in a small apt. Get the best you can afford which tends to go up with age. The most interesting part of your story is that you spent so much time unemployed while we were bringing in Hb1 visa emplyees. What's wrong with that picture.

Wow! Typical Fascist. I've got mine and to hell with the rest of you! As a boy growing up Health Care was never an issue, it was expected as part of your wages at work. Then along came the Fascist and their "Blame" Machine. Now there are NO unions with the power to threaten the big boys and thus NO health insurance for working people. Turning our backs on American Workers has become all to easy and has resulted in this nations free fall into the WORST position in Health Care and the Standard of living. Shouldn't we be smart enough to understand that we have been headed in the WRONG direction and that losers like this bozo are NOT real American's? We're going to have to sooner or later, lets do it now and save ourselves the grief. Sieg Heil Bush!!

Yeah I know, it's not possible to debate the REAL issue brought up by the Movie and the Article. The facts that this Nation has the WORST health Care System in the World is there for all to see so I guess spewing a little hate at those who don't hold to the Party View is the best way to address the issue? LMAO You sick Nazi's have NEVER had a solution to anything...it's always hate them because they don't agree with me. Sad. You freaks are truly very sad indeed. Sieg Heil Bush!!

"Cozzican, I get that you were traumatized by your bronchitis, so you've come to believe universal health care is the answer. I do not. I think the system needs reform but not scrapped entirely. I would hate to see research hindered in any way.I would like to see employers out of the health care business."-- Posted by lestb35

You're good... but there you go finding something wrong with me again.

None of the proposals for universal health care scrap the current system. Have you read them?

You probably haven't.

I'm going to assume you are rightish and a republican. Do yourself a favor: come up with a solution that is better than what is on the table and pass it to your senator.

Until then, you're just a shill.

NeoConnie is a drag queen at our local gay bar here in town. Her s.e.x change wasn't covered by her husbands ****. But she saved every dime that was stuffed into her panties from years of drag performances to pay for it. The s.e.x change was a success but the stomach staple procedure the following year didn't take. She now wieghs 428 pounds and does the most wonderfull rendition of the old gospel "Looking For A City" dragged out as Vestal Goodman from the "Happy Goodmans".
Love ya Miss Connie...oh and by the way, can I be in charge of passing the offering plate at this weekends drag show? PLEASE!!!!!

"cozzicon, question. If you had 100K on your last tax return why didn't you have any credit cards (ETC)"--Posted by lestb35

Your not curious. You trying to discredit my point of view, which is fine, I can defend myself. But so far you've attacked my points with "higher taxes", "Anyone can afford health insurance", and "Sign up for welfare". I've discredited each of them in turn.

Now you want to audit me?

Ok... fair game. My retirement was invested in my business, I chose before I got sick to be responsible and pay off the business debts with it. The equity on my house went to pay outstanding personal bills.

Then I lived in my car for three weeks.

I did cut up my credit cards... because bankruptcy on top of health problems is not something I wanted.

Ironically, my cell phone which I kept for a few months after I lost the house rang, and I was asked to come out to New York and polish fiber optics to help route around telco problems that were caused by the fall of the towers.

I couldn't afford the gas, and my auto insurance had lapsed. I also had bronchitis from sleeping in the car. No go. I wouldn't have passed their physical for the job... go figure.

So do I meet your financial standards yet?

The point is... I'm not the problem- the health care system is the problem. You can attack me, play prosecutor, but you ignore the pink elephant in the room if you refuse to at least consider what you have been told.

Insurance companies and the Mafia:

Insurance companies -- have tons of lawyers employed to defend themselves against other lawyers, in some cases, lawyers from competitor insurance companies.

The Mafia -- have many people called 'hitmen' (or whatever term used to describe them), to 'take out' that which threatens their business as a defense for themselves.

Insurance companies -- tell us that we need to buy their policies for "protection". We pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for their "protection". Protection against who? -- Protection from other members like them!

The Mafia -- tells people that they need to pay them money for "protection". These people pay the mafia hundreds to thousands of dollars for their "protection". Protection against who? -- Protection from other members like them!

The difference between the two groups...

...the insurance companies' business model is considered "legal" and it's just a part of the capitalist/free market society we live in.

As for the Mafia....

...their members wear more expensive suits.

"OFF TO WAR, ANY ADVICE?

when good people spank evil people, women and children prosper

invest money in people who make everyone pay so no one starves

invest votes in people who tax everyone at gunpoint so no one is slaved

invest market share in all but the most vulnerable: infants and toddlers

don't pay minimum wage folk to canvas everything all the time by dancing get well soon you are here why why why feed the world first aid on the trail songs; instead, pay maximum wage folk to canvas nothing ever by dancing get sick soon tax the world first strike on the trail songs

more food is thrown out each day than is needed to feed the world, you needn't feed the few to feed the many: you should instead tax the many to feed the few and the proud"

perfect but I hope you realize at 100K you're going to be one of the few paying for all of us down here in the 40K range. I hope you don't mind being in the 40% or higher tax bracket paying for universal health, daycare and pre-school. I will enjoy your tax donation and live a long healthy life as you toil away as an IT exec. Can you pay for my college education too. I feel like becoming an astronomer?

The Insurance Industry: The biggest flaw of Capitalism.

In basic business 101, a business in a capitalistic society exists to make a profit, and increase its profits in order for that business to grow/expand.

To make a profit, you must keep costs low while continually keeping revenue high.

Health Insurance companies keeps revenue high by the premiums they charge their clients. One of the biggest costs for a health insurance company is paying on claims made by their clients. Health insurance companies keep their costs low by paying as little as possible on the claims made by their clients, if not completely avoiding claim payouts.

So to sum up the business model of an insurance company, (specifically health insurance companies)...

...you give the insurance company your money so they can make a profit provided that the insurance company doesn't have to give you money when you need it, (as they promise to do in their brochures). Sadly, this is all very legal in a capitalist/free market economic system.

"cozzicon, you are a bonafide whiner. good god man grow up, talk to your parents or grandparents sometime about life and it's hardships as for the rest of us spare us your whining. Health insurance is expensive. For those of us who can afford it, it's stupid not ot buy it for those who can't sign up for welfare or check with state. I'm happy that you'll be making the big bucks as an IT executive and will therefore be paing for my healthcare someday on this universal program."-- Posted by lestb35

That's the difference between me and you. I'll happily pay higher taxes for your well being. Even though now that I'm back in the professional world I really don't need to.

Try getting free health care by the way, with a six figure income on your last tax return.... good luck. That sliding scale isn't forgiving.

Paying for your health care (Which you seem to be in need of with the last post) will be my honor, my pleasure, and my gift to you. It's the right thing to do. It's my patriotic duty.

Enjoy it and live long, have many children, and love your family.

That high tax argument doesn't work on me. I'm not afraid of paying taxes. I can afford taxes. I can afford taxes for YOUR well being. I'm even willing to lower my standard of living to pay for YOUR health care.

I don't need universal health care anymore. But if you do- let me know where to send the check.

I will not pass off my responsibility to a fellow American (Even the ignorant ones) because my "taxes will go up".
