The Nation: More Honest History About White Racism Is Needed
- "To be racist means that you have the economic or political means to hold another group back."
um, since when? You just made that up... You're suggesting that since blacks have no money & no political power (not true btw) that they cannot be racist - also not true.
"What were YOU doing when the Water Cannons and Attack dogs were being turned on American Citizens?"
That happened a few years before I was born - am I still responsible for that?
There's a fundamental hypocrisy in using racism to combat racism which liberals seem oddly comfortable with. They can talk about how white people have done this, white people are like that and would stand aghast at anyone making the exact kind of statement about black people - at least if it were made in a negative light... i.e. According to liberal doctine, I'm perfectly allowed, in fact encouraged to make blanket negative & wholly racist statements about white people. I cannot, however, make blanket positive statements about white people. I AM encouraged to make blanket statements about black people so long as they are either positive in nature or deal with the hardships their race has endured at the hands of whites. I am absolutely prohibited from making anything even remotely resembling negative blanket statements about black people - THAT is a cardinal sin... okay - let's examine that from an ideal perspective of judging a person on the content of their character, and not on the color of their skin... who said that? - Reply to this comment
- What is wrong here? When I ask ALL you experts on the Racial Situation in this nation to demonstrate why you are an expert, I get silence. IF you contend that things are so much better or as one clown said there were far worse crimes against humanity than what went on in our south you should be able to back that up. So come on folks! According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, who HAS fought these creatures since day one, there are far MORE racist organizations and Fascist Groups TODAY than there has been in decades. Now IF you people know so much about this WHY are they wrong?

- Now don't bother telling me I am a stupid racist. Just keep on thinking the way you do. You're wonderful, and a credit to your schoolteachers.

Like all fascist who want people to think they are "Normal" you completely ignored the question. Before you can claim to know where Racism is today you MUST have the knowledge of where it was when we got off those bus's during the Freedom Ride's. Otherwise you are nothing more than a self serving joke who want's to play on peoples desire to not remember the bad days. WHAT have YOU ever done to take down groups like the KKK, and the Religious Right? That's the issue here Sparky! - Reply to this comment
- skyk,
you have so much energy, my, my, you're going to change the world, or, rather, you're going to have other people change the world for you. Good for you, young man.
By the way, the true definition of a racist is a person who thinks there are differences among the races, like the Blacks have better physical characteristics which excel in running and jumping and singing and dancing, or that the Asians have better work ethic which excels in making money and having close family ties.
Of course as Americans we know that is untrue, that we are all created equal - it's right there in black and white - and that we are all the same.
It would be racist to see it otherwise.
Now don't bother telling me I am a stupid racist. Just keep on thinking the way you do. You're wonderful, and a credit to your schoolteachers. - Reply to this comment
- that is far from the worst crime against humanity...your post always seem to be filled with hate and anger...take a deep breathe and then go talk to someone...maybe at least you could wake up in the morning one time with a smile on your face instead of venom in your tongue.

Well I'll ask you the same question Sparky. What did YOU ever do to take the Preachers of the KLAN out of schools? Just saying these things weren't the worst crimes against humanity shows where you are and were you stood during the fight. I do not know a crime worse than dragging a man out of his home, putting a rope around his neck and choking him to death.. Well I'm wrong about that, someone who refuses to admit it's the worst crime against humanity is much worse on the moral scale. I fight against these people and I fight against their hatred... the question is why aren't you angry? - Reply to this comment
- They were petty criminals. Color didn't make them crooks. In the same context, stop this white folk keeping the black folk down ***. I%u2019ve had enough of that poison.

What have you done to ELIMINATE the forces that create the hatred? What have you done to distroy FASCISM in the South. Don't sit there and make statements like this IF you have never acted in anyway to take down the FASCISM that is so obvious in our South. You simply want people to stop telling you that YOU are supporting and keeping FASCIST alive and well...that's all your about Sparky! - Reply to this comment
- I'm here to tell you that in the south the FASCISM and HATRED that created the WORST crime against Humanity in our life time is far from gone.

- happen to be white... and I cannot hold individual blacks collectively responsible for the actions of other blacks - I am told this time & time again by people like the guy who wrote this article - I accept this notion... In the same way, I do not accept collective responsibility for the actions of other whites.

That is NOT the issue here Sparky! The issue is what have YOU done to eliminate the creatures who produced and continue to produce the fertile soil for such hatreds to grow in. Race was used by people who have used Religion in the EXACT same way. If YOU honestly think that these creatures are no more you aren't living in the real world. Anyone who thinks Southern Fascist are stupid has never fought the crimes against humanity they served on this nation. Stop with this playing one against the other and get out there... bring down those "Conservatives" who want to take this nation back to the 50's. That's what you can and should be doing. - Reply to this comment
- People, get it right! To be racist is to have a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others. To be prejudiced is to have an adverse opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts. We, ALL AMERICANS, live in a racist society, but most citizens of this country just tend to be prejudiced. To be racist means that you have to economic or political means to hold another group back. How can Blacks be racist towards whites? They can be prejudiced, but not racist. The media is racist! Look at how minorities are portrayed everynight and day in the news and on television programs. Banks are racist. Mortgage companies are racist. Sometimes, law enforcement agencies are racist. I am not saying that all minorities are sqeaky clean, but look at the conditions that some people are subjected to. Because of some of the *** that comes across the airwaves, most people form their opinions of others. One Black guy holds up a fastfood joint, they all must be like that. One Hispanic guy gets busted with drugs coming across the border, they all have drugs. This is the year 2007. Wake up and learn to think for yourselves!!
