National Review: Supporting Hillary Clinton Because Of Her Gender Does Women No Good
- SamTheTVCat - you the second person who has missed the articles point. The author doesn't assume women vote for women because they are women - she points out that the Hillary campaign assumes she has an advantage because she is a women and thats a bad reason to vote for anybody.
Like most who rapidly take a pro or con Hillary stance you read a few lines, check the authors pedegree and then leap to conclusions.
And your conclusion is that as long as somebody isn't W they are therefore qualified to lead the riches, most powerful nation on the earth.
Doesn't that seem a bit thin on the logic scale to you? Or is it only about partisan politics - as long a Dems be Repukes your ok - regardless of who they are. - Reply to this comment

- OK marco, try to go to http://www.ejectejecteject.com and scroll down, there are links on the right. Pick "Tribes." And since I know you're more left than I, please don't be offended - give him a real reading. He got where he is through reason and reading the essay will confirm that, I believe.
Also - if you're at work or something it could be something to do with your work firewall. I had that problem before. - Reply to this comment

Point is though, her qualifications aren't the reason I question voting for her. It's her beliefs. I'm not talking morally either, although for me personally, that does figure in. My problem is with the trend toward bigger government, more laws, and what I see people doing (mainly Democrats) with our language in an attempt to redefine issues by re-labeling them.
" - aren't you just saying that you prefer Repubs over Dems and then you're trying to rationalize it - "
Actually I'm an independent. I don't really care. It isn't the color of the party for me; it's the "tribe" the candidate belongs to. To understand what I mean please read this - http://www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/000129.html - I don't think it's going to go through as a working link so copy & paste. (It's way too long to post here but it describes this whole issue perfectly.) From what I've seen, Hillary is not my tribe. - Reply to this comment

"I think the larger point in bringing up Dumbya is to question whether Hillary's qualifications are truly the issue with people who keep challenging her merit in light of the fact the subtext of this debate is really red vs blue - like people are saying qualifications clearly aren't the issue because if they were you'd necessarily have to see Hilary as more meritorious than Bushie."
Actually, if you looked at just a list of qualifications without the names attached, they'd look about the same to me. I've looked them both over. Folks, you can't be an idiot and govern a state - and you *can't* be an idiot to fly a fighter jet, which he did in the National Guard. Claiming that those things don't count really is laughable. Similarly you can't be an idiot to become a partner in a law firm or to be a two term senator. But I take your point, Sam, about the subtext of the debate. For many people that's probably the most important issue. However, to me it isn't. I'm not hiring a Red or a Blue to be my President; I'm hiring a person with a set of beliefs. They obviously have the technical qualifications or they wouldn't have gotten this far. The question is, what's wrong with challenging her qualifications? If they withstand the challenge, all the better for her. If all she can produce is a gaggle of devotees foaming at the mouth and rebuking questioners, I'm sorry, my respect for her declines drastically. - Reply to this comment
- If I voted for Hillary, it would be because that's what the idiot necons deserve for sticking us with the idiot for eight years.
And I don't think there'd be as many unnecessary deaths during a Hillary administration. - Reply to this comment
- "So far there is nobody who can articulate a reason to justify their conviction in her ability to lead the nation"
There never will be for some people - I doubt you'd even see the merits of Jesus if he ran as a Democrat. Merit isn't the issue here - I don't even think gender is that much of an issue really. I just personally don't like this author's assumption that there's women out there who are voting based solely on gender unlike herself who has 'studied policy'. That's so condescending. - Reply to this comment
- "the rage you spew is sickening. The unfounded claims and character assumptions made in your posts are laughable. Prove one thing you said - and then one of you go try to be the governor of Texas."
That's just your opinion, not objective fact. I think the larger point in bringing up Dumbya is to question whether Hillary's qualifications are truly the issue with people who keep challenging her merit in light of the fact the subtext of this debate is really red vs blue - like people are saying qualifications clearly aren't the issue because if they were you'd necessarily have to see Hilary as more meritorious than Bushie.
So really, what is it you're saying - aren't you just saying that you prefer Repubs over Dems and then you're trying to rationalize it - that's what the author's doing anyway and the way she went about it was just not based on reality...I totally agree that this author seems to have conjured up a paper tiger of women who think gender issues take precedence over all else - Iraq, terrorism, the economy, healthcare, childcare, taxes, the environment, corruption, etc) - she imputes that belief on people and then goes into a rage at them but it isn't even a logical conclusion to what the two people she quotes have said. Maybe 3 women think she makes sense, but well even Dumbya has 28% approval rating so you know... - Reply to this comment
