80% Of Speech-Watchers Generally Approve Of Bush Proposals
- perception5 , remember when the great communicator said, "Our enemies never stop thinking of ways to harm our country and our people...and neither do we!" That was good one!

Thanks for reminding me of that oleander8. - Reply to this comment
- I'm not surprised that most Americans liked what our President said. It's only when our corrupt liberal press censors, distorts, and misrepresents what our President saids that Americans become depressed and angry at him.

- "Fifty-seven percent of speech-watchers say President Bush has strong qualities of leadership, and 54% think he is trustworthy."
Obviously, a majority of Americans place more stock in what one says as opposed to what one does. - Reply to this comment

- "The war was started by him on his FIRST term. If you thought it was a lie ' THEN ' then it's OUR fault he was voted in again !!!! If you didn't believe him ' THEN ' WHY would he be voted in AGAIN !? "

He wasn't "voted" in the first time - he was appointed. And it was manipulation and dirty-tricks that put him for the second term.
Don't blame the 50% of the population that DIDN'T vote for him when you say "it's OUR fault"...that was no landslide. - Reply to this comment
- It is common knowledge that Iraqi units are infiltrated by all types of Insurgents, Terrorist, and Execution Death Squads members of Both Religions. Those people who support this Surge of Troops in Iraq are forcing American Soldiers to sleep with the enemy in small units exposing them to undue kidnap threat. Americans soldiers who are captured by these enemies are without mercy, tortured and mutilated beyond recognition by their captors. Still our political leadership are planning to send these Brave Men and Women in to this environment. If American proceeds with this deployment and breaks down small American Units to live and work with these Iraqi Death Squad Units our troops will be kidnapped and handed over to such beheadings, torture and captivity as has never been seen before on Cable, Internet, and National Television. If you support this surge in troops and the tactics it brings you are responsible for every one of these deaths.

- "But we need to stand strong with WHOEVER we pick."
jeannec3,
GOPers spent millions of our tax dollars to impeach Bill Clinton over a stain on a blue dress and registered GOPers stood firmly behind them while they did it.
"Are you saying that your brain turned to mush by the time that it was time to vote again, that this country voted him in AGAIN !?"
What about the American people trusting our president not to lie to us don't you understand?
"I would much rather have the fight going on over there then here !!"
So the lives of Iraqi children ar less valuable in your "Christian, family values" judgement? This shallow cliche should be banned forever.
"We were once thought of as brave and strong, but now we are looking like we are scared and weak."
Brave and strong behind a fools errand proves nothing. Americans will defend this nation when called upon. If you were truely paying attention, you'd understand that, that's not what is happening in Iraq. - Reply to this comment

A hugh majority of the people who watch STOU speeches are those members of the president's own party. Factoring in that reality, the numbers aren't so good are they? - Reply to this comment

I would much rather have the fight going on over there then here !! They were already being trained over there and other places to find even MORE ways to kill us !! I don't agree with everything about the war. But if we don't stand strong with who we pick as a President, then the other world leaders are going to be a lot stronger then we are ! Do we really want other world leaders teeming together and taking over our country because we don't like who WE picked as a President and won't stay strong behind him !? Face it. There is NO president that EVERYONE is going to agree with. But we need to stand strong with WHOEVER we pick. In a few years you'll get to pick another. And God knows he'll be picked apart by everyone too. No wonder we are a joke to other world leaders. We were once thought of as brave and strong, but now we are looking like we are scared and weak.

- I vote they change the format of these speeches and do away with all the mind-numbing clapping every five seconds!! Please, do your clapping AFTER the entire speech.

- Who are the American's that supposedly watched the president's speech a few old people. I have been to four news sights including this one and all the votes are against the speech, giving it poor ratings and saying we should pullout.

I really do understand where you're coming from but there must be ACCOUNTABILITY. There are too many dead people involved - dead for a lie. What can be worse then that? No HONOR, no SHAME. - Reply to this comment
- People are disrespecting bush because it brought down upon itself. bush does not represent the American People, bush is for bush and bush inc. nothing more, nothing less. it was ASSIGNED the presidency the first term, and considering what we had to choose from in the second election....well that goes without saying. First of all before we elect a leader to lead us, we need to get our act together to pick a leader, not based on how rich, powerful, or how many stupid cowboy movies they made or how many babies they kiss or who's butt they kiss. A lot of this is OUR fault because WE, THE PEOPLE, sit back and do nothing more than complain. If all the people would get off their computers and form an idea of EXACTLY what WE, THE PEOPLE, want, it might get better results. Instead of fighting amongst ourselves, as this is the ULTIMATE goal of this and other opinon sites, JOIN TOGETHER and VOICE IT AS ONE.

- jeannec3. So what you are saying is it's okay to outright LIE and to do what Bush did to be elected? He was standing in front of us during the last election telling us to "Stay the Course" and that we were WINNING! He stood there and belittled EVERY American who raised issues with what he was telling people and all the while he was allowing the most simple minded and Mentally Challenged amoung us to BELIEVE Iraq was involved in the Attack on us. That's just NOT deserving of our support, that's something we should all be asking him to resign for.

Sorry, but he deceived the American people and Congress, he manipulated the events of 9/11, he forgot Osama-Been-Forgotten (which was why we went into Afghanistan in the first place), and he has ruled like King George instead of leading like a President. Furthermore, he has ignored requested input -- especially form those who dare to disagree with him. Why? Because he is unable to step up to the plate and admit he made a huge error in judgement.
He is the only one who is responsible for painting this country into a corner. It's his war and he is the only one who owns it. - Reply to this comment

I'd agree with you if he hadn't taken us to war on a lie - and ignored the US constitution. It a right and a duty to denounce him. - Reply to this comment
- Let me start out with...I didn't vote for Bush. So I'm not a lover or hater of Bush. I do have to say that we DO vote in this country of ours. And Bush won the right to be President. And whoever wins is only in there for four years, unless he runs for a second term and wins again. I think it's a disgrace how people and Gov. people and the news from our own country puts down our president ( no matter who it is ). How can we expect other countries to show respect for our presidents ( that WE CHOOSE ! ) if WE are not showing respect and standing behind him ourselves !!!! You know that if you don't like this president,in four years you will have a chance to choose a new one ! And if you don't vote and are just off to other countries or news rooms to complain, shame on you ! We need to stand behind a our president. By not doing so only makes US the laughing stock in the world !!! THINK about IT !!! The other world leaders are not CHOOSEN like ours are. So to openly and constantly through him term putting him down and disrespecting him does not make him look strong to the other world leaders ! I'm not saying that you have to LIKE what he is doing and we are free to say so. But to not stand behind him makes him look weak to other world leaders. So there for they feel they can walk all over us !
