not meaning to pick on you.
I've yet to get those who tout the health of the economy to respond in any meaningful manner to the real facts when confronted with them.
where is all this data that supports such a healthy economy?
people WANT to believe that the economy is healthy because the bush (and neocons) administration stresses what looks good for them and completely ignores the elephant sitting behind them! - Reply to this comment

here are the facts. like them or not!
digest a few of these.
then tell us how well bush's economic policies are doing?

- erichsh: I don't know about other people but I tried to point out the obvious inconsistencies of the WMD claims when they were made and my points were ignored. Having had Nuke experience I guess it was easier for me to see the lies. Having a limit on what I could say and so many gullible people that just accept what they are told I fear we've already "lost" what democracy we've had. Please bring back Habeus Corpus, free speech, privacy and civil rights. None of that was addressed in the State of the Union.

didn't you hear Webb's rebuttal?
you can emphasize a part of the economy, but ignore the rest all you want, but that doesn't change anything.
how is it that clinton was able to turn around the economy in such a short time and bush had destroyed what progress that was made in so little time?
this contry had a budget surplus. was well on the way to fully funding social security and a (get this) 9 trillion dollar surplus.
bush wiped every bit of it away.
now all we face are rising debt and deficits as far as the eye can see. the economy is good? because a small section has record profits does not mean that the economy is good....or healthy.
btw
if you REALLY want the facts they are available, but do you really? - Reply to this comment
- jeannec3: funny you mention your admiration for both Hitler and Bush in the same post. Guess I can see how fascism might be admirable but is it endorsed by your religion? Osama admires power too. Personally I believe diplomacy worked very well before the republicans turned it into a dirty word.

- Hmm, am I getting this right? He's offering a 15k tax break to people that can't afford health insurance?? Hey if they needed a 15k tax break they'd be wealthy enough to pay for the insurance. Topping it off, employers will either jack up the supposed cost or justify dropping the few who are getting health benefits saying it's offsetting the minimum wage increase and telling their employees to "go Private".
Sounds more like another giveaway to the corporations with employer loopholes justifying dropping that benefit. So, the insurance companies that are being SUED for Katrina NONPAYMENT can recover from the suits by NOT paying for all the PRIVATE health insurance they'll pick up from this latest "great idea" from the top. HELLO!! POOR DON'T NEED TAX BREAKS! THEY NEED FAIRNESS!! - Reply to this comment
- Let's consider one of the Bush lies from 911. On June 1, 2001 VP Cheney took NORAD's airliner shootdown authority away from the Generals and assumed that authority. Now I find it unconceivable that Cheney, at least at that point, didn't become aware of the ongoing NORAD drills involving airliners being hijacked and used as weapons. But, Bush maintains that no one in his administration had considered that possibility. Not possible. There are also other indications that his administration 'knew', but let's just consider this one for now. Links;

- Anyone who believes anything Bush says is like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football one more time. How many times do you need to get burned before you learn ? BushWorld doesn't exist ! These people deny science, which is based on repeatable cause and effect relationships. They are superstitious, magical thinkers who have no interest in the real world.

- The topic of the article is quite simple. Tell people what you're doing or they will make up something about what you're doing.
Bush talks about what he wants to do and that is generally better than not, so a portion of America is temporarily appeased. Sounds like human nature more than a political upswing.
What we should all really want is results. I've heard us talk about energy policy since I was a child, when are we going to get serious about it? - Reply to this comment

- getserious1, Do me and those on here a favour and get lost. Two men who did Not lie were Hans Blix and Dr David Kelly. They said that there were NO WMD's, BUSH AND BLAIR stated that we had twenty four hours. They are proven liars, albeit they are now lying again accusing their respective advisors. Get real you republican donkey

So why are you reading the comments section and posting if you think our opinions are meaningless? Either contribute to the discussion or get lost! If you think Bush told the truth give examples and enter into the debate. - Reply to this comment
- "Viewers are doubtful President Bush will be able to accomplish all the goals he set out in his speech" because they know that the President has to now deal with the OBSTRUCTIONIST DEMOCRATS to get anything done.
And everyone knows that the majority of Democrats don't want to work with Republicans. It's just "their way" to block what needs to be done.
But the President will achieve the goals anyway. - Reply to this comment

WHERE have you been? Alaska? Did you listen to Powell at the UN? He told the world we have proof of WMD/bio/Chem , the whole lot and Tenent and Negroponte sat right behind nodding the whole. Not to mention all the fabricated intel produced at the "Office of Special Plans" inside the DOD, run by Cheney/rumsfeld lackies Feith/Wolfowitz!
Come on now, get serious. - Reply to this comment
- Don't pay any attention to the accusers that say Bush lied. They can't prove it. They don't KNOW he lied, they just BELIEVE he lied. If the Dems could PROVE it, they would have started the impeachment process already. So stop spreading YOUR LIES !

- Ya know folks, if you DIDN'T watch the speach (or read the complete text), how can you comment on it??
I prefer to listen to an actual source, then to get my news from opinionated second hand news reports!
Nothing like the ignorant telling the rest of us what he meant and what he said, when they didn't even listen to his words!
This is why none of you right or left extremist have any relevance. - Reply to this comment
- The middle-East will dominate U.S. government regardless of what W. or any other President says. The Middle-East will allways become the defacto first priority, religating every other issue to a "back burner".

He has assured us: We would be greeted as liberators %u2014 with flowers;
As they stood up, we would stand down. We would stay the course; we were never about %u201Cstay the course.%u201D
We would never have to go door-to-door in Baghdad. And, last night, that to gain Iraqis%u2019 trust, we would go door-to-door in Baghdad.
He told us the enemy was al-Qaida, foreign fighters, terrorists, Baathists, and now Iran and Syria.
He told us the war would pay for itself. It would cost $1.7 billion. $100 billion. $400 billion. Half a trillion. Last night%u2019s speech alone cost another $6 billion.
And after all of that, now it is his credibility versus that of generals, diplomats, allies, Democrats, Republicans, the Iraq Study Group, past presidents, voters last November and the majority of the American people. - Reply to this comment
