Technically, the contestant rules require contestants to follow local laws. In the case of the twins, by Bangladesh criminal code, they committed "criminal misappropriation" at the least when they did not make reasonable attempt to return found property. They were quite aware that the money belonged to the rocker team. By accepting part of the ill-gotten gain, Trey and Lexi committed "receipt of stolen property". Additionally, the production crew and Trey and Lexi committed "Aid and Abet - after the fact" by not reporting a crime to the appropriate authorities. The violation of contest rules constitutes a violation of FCC guidelines as well and has been reported to them.

Just watched this episode in Australia. We waited for the end anticipating a penalty for the twins.
Seems its ok to steal. I had watched and enjoyed every episode of this show until now.
They have lost me as a viewer.

Ms. Derschowitz;
I don't know how you can seriously call "the twins" Nadiya and Natalie actions "swiping" it was quite clear to everyone who watched the episode that it was out and out theft and to suggest anything else is irresponsible on your part as a journalist. I do understand that in your role you are "reporting" on what has occurred in the episode and are remaining neutral on the twins and their actions. I do ask however that you refer to serious actions such as theft with verbiage that reflects the graveness of the action and to not attempt to minimize it with casual language such as you have. It's obvious that "swiping" $100.00 means very little to you or any of the executives at CBS but to many of your viewers including impressionable young people it sends a very clear and distinct message that it is ok to lie, cheat or steal without consequence. Perhaps you and your colleagues at CBS should think on this and check you moral compasses before utilizing criminal actions as a way to gain ratings. There is no gray area here, it is black and white and although it seems trivial it is really much more serious that you have articulated.

JESSICA DERSCHOWITZ / CBS NEWS.... SERIOUSLY?!?!?! You must ask on your network's webpage "Do you think the twins should have been penalized for stealing the money?" WTH!!! Are the executives at CBS so oblivious and money hungry that they/you must ask us what we think?! Go to "The Amazing Race" Facebook page, see the nearly 4300 comments in six different posts. The vast majority, I'm willing to bet >95%, are disgusted with the way CBS and TAR executives let this slide. I watch TAR every week with my daughter, thank God I've already instilled proper morals in my children because I simply cannot explain this one! Except maybe to say there are too many people in this world who will do anything to win, including top executives. Oh wait we already knew that, just look at the recession we're still trying to recover from.

I was shocked.
What in the world have we come to?
A crime was committed and it was simply passed by like it was no big deal, a joke.
No a great message to the young people out there.
What's next, breaking each others legs so they can't compete?
Completely turned me off on the show.

I had been a keen supporter of the twins - enjoying seeing two strong women compete but their behaviour was deplorable. They KNEW the money belonged to the Rockers - they even said as much. What did they gain from such actions except the disdain of the viewers. The Texans, whom I thought were so wholesome are also digusting. I don't care if they later handed the money into production as part of some last minute guilt trip - all four had the opportunity to do the right thing but THEY chose not to. This was not a strategy it was theft and as such is illegal in every country I know of - not so in the U.S.? I see on the shorts that the Rockers lose their luggage in the next episode, is CBS trying to paint them as irresponsible (via editing) and thus allowing the others an 'excuse' or maybe they are simply providing a means of excusing the no penalty. Surely moral behaviour should come into it - what if the money had belonged to an impoverished Bangladeshi who was also in th travel agency - would CBS allow THAT behviour to go without penalty?

I am totally on team Rockers because of how well they handled themselves when they were faced with extremely bad news in the past two weeks. The Twins were so wrong in stealing the money of a contestant who is racing for his father with cancer, and I hope they are eliminated as punishment. I was talking to a coworker at DISH about the Twins' theft, and they just thought it was part of the game. I will admit that James and Abba messed up by losing track of the money, but the Twins snatched it up almost instantly. I missed the show last night, but thankfully my Hopper recorded it with Primetime Anytime. I love how my DISH DVR can record everything on during primetime on the four major networks without having to set timers. I am glad that I caught it because the Twin's underhanded tactics only served to show what a great team James and Abba are.

I am happy to see that I am not the only one who was disappointed by the twins and the other couple (Trey and Lexi) getting away with stealing and not getting even a slap on the wrist. This is unacceptable behavior which I always tell my children. I cannot explain to them why these thieves were not even admonished.

I am also very happy to join the many here who will stop watching the show. I hope many more who do not approve of stealing will follow suit and stop watching. Maybe that way they will know they did something wrong and stop rationalizing as to why they did not punish the perpetrators.

The Amazing Race is promoting that it is okay to steal. What does this say to our children, and society?

I am outraged that there are no consequences for their actions. That is what's wrong with society today. And Amazing Race and CBS are promoting it!

I cannot watch this show any longer. You have lost my respect, Phil.
