You just don't get it or haven't lived long enough to grow out of your ignorance because we ALL as individuals love and care about someone that not everybody else does and when you lose that person the pain is indescribable and WE ALL DESERVE THE RIGHT TO GREIVE with our loved ones! So everyone needs to get out of that chair of judgement you seem to be so comfortable in because there is ONLY ONE that can fill that position and just remember you will too be JUDGED!! So to all that talk about Freedom and America stop the hatred and let each individual mourn with PEACE!! You don't have to agree but love and respect for your fellow man would be the RIGHT THING TO DO!!!
LIVE LOVE AND LAUGH OUT LOUD.... NO ONE IS GUARENTEED TOMORROW... who knows tomorrow it might be someone you love or someone that loves you!!

This comment board is a pretty interesting metaphor for MJ's life. He would have been better off if both his fans and detractors had just ignored him. He was talented but also from what I could see, a very mentally weak person. This guy had SERIOUS issues and was way too fragile for all the attention he received, either positive or negative. For the past twenty years I always thought he was a wierdo but now I almost (that's almost) feel sorry for him. Poor b*st*ard, they even trotted his corpse out for one last spectacle at the Staples Center.

It is amazing that this child molester should get this kind of publicity.

There was no CREDIBLE evidence he was a child molester. He is innocent until PROVEN guilty. He was acquitted of all accusations against him. I do not believe he ever caused injury to ANY child.
by tautomer July 7, 2009 11:52 PM EDT
He wasn't even the father of his "children" because he was so g a y that s e x with a woman was repulsive to him.

The was a ton of credible evidence in those molestation cases. He BOUGHT his way out.
by realnews12 July 8, 2009 1:25 AM EDT
And you "know" this how exactly ? Ah, thought so. Just your hateful opinion.
by realnews12 July 11, 2009 5:31 PM EDT
If you are really so sure he was guilty of molesting young boys, you really owe it to yourself to read the story published in 1994 at:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread477059/pg1

Perhaps it will open your eyes to what was really going on.
by exaf74 July 7, 2009 2:19 PM EDT
Yup, all this airtime for a singer but I dont remember any network doing the same for any soldier's funeral. What's next, the naacp gonna want a national holiday for MJ?

That is because he was known and loved by hundreds of millions of people around the world. A soldier killed in war is certainly worthy of tribute and thanks, but was not known widely like MJ was known. That is the difference.

I amazes me how many music idol worshiping drug using pedophile worshipers there are in the world.
My family is on a TV blackout for the rest of this week because we don't want to see a drug addict gay child molestor elevated to the status of a god. To some of you, have fun worshiping your idol, you picked a real winner LOL.
This worship of enterntainers as a god is getting worse and worse.
And all the "famous" gods line up to pay homage to their fellow god.

Zonkzilla - MJ was NOT a pedophile and he was not gay. He was NOT a child molester, such accusations were only hurled at him for MONEY. He may indeed have been addicted to prescription pain killers -- because he was in severe pain from an accident. He was a uniquely talented human being with a gentle and sensitive spirit. He was not a god.

Nobody is trying to elevate anyone, what we say on tv was a memorial service. We remember the good that a person did in his life, the good, not the bad, the good. Think of the Staple center as a huge church, if you have ever been to a african american funeral, you would realize, thats how we do it. There is a lot of singing, and preaching, and a lot of emotion involved. we can easly sit back and poke fun at MJ, and speculate on the different aspects of his life, but when it is all said and done, what we think really doesn't matter, it doesn't take away from all of the good this man has done ( a lot of it we never herd of ). No one is a saint, did MJ make mistakes? sure he did. did he use poor judgment? I would say yes. was he evil ? hell no. I think we have a man who at a very young age was in the spotlight, he never got a chance to be a kid. He wanted to see the good in everyone and bring that out. His biggest downfall was that he only wanted to see the good in everyone and thought everyone looked at the world the same way he did. he only wanted to be what he never was a child, and to the dark, depressed cynical mind set that we have, we looked for problems. And when you look hard enough you'll find what you want. Was MJ a pedophille? it was never proven, thats all i can go on. Was he strange? by our standard maybe? but what we call strange and abmornal, he viewed it as normal and innocent. So cut the man some slack. He is dead let us have him, and remember him for the good and innocent soul he tried to be.
by earth562 July 7, 2009 2:08 PM EDT
He has some good music up until 1984 but enough already !

Did he cure cancer ?

Did he make peace in the world ?

There are plenty of people in the obituary section every day in the NewYork Times who deserve a memorial service far more than Michael because they far exceeded their contribution to the world.

by realnews12 July 7, 2009 5:36 PM EDT
Michael was known to all people, around the world. He brought people together through his music and through his humanitarian work. His contributions to making the world a better and more joyful place were enormous.
by ktgilb1 July 8, 2009 7:45 AM EDT
MJ did bring peace to this world in his own way, thru his music. I see a lot of people on this post who have a lot of negative things to say about MJ, why? you have had years to make fun of him. We laughed at him, we poked fun at him, we make fun of his lifestyle. ENOUGH!!!!! THE MAN IS DEAD !!!!!! let him have in death what we refused to give him in life, respect and dignity.

The surgeon finally got his nose done and his skin bleached, just the way he always dreamed it would be.

MJ did not bleach his skin, dude. He had a skin disease called vitiligo which causes skin to lighten over time. Look it up, instead of criticizing or making fun in ignorance.
by tautomer July 7, 2009 11:45 PM EDT
Yeah, I guess the vitiligo put the plastic in his nose and created that messed up chin with the phoney dimple...oh and the elongated eyelashes and the straight hair? Yeah sure, MJ never did anything to alter his appearance....get a clue dork!!!

MJ was so ashamed of being the neurotic pedophile he was that he tried anything and everything to change it. Everyday he was haunted by images of scantily clad 8 yr olds. He hoped that by becoming a white woman he could pass those urges off as "motherly instincts".
by realnews12 July 8, 2009 1:21 AM EDT
I see you are a hater, tautomer. Does that make you proud ? I never said MJ didn't try to alter his appearance, I said he had a particular skin disease. He was not a "pedophile". He brought love to the world, while you bring hate.
by excoachken July 7, 2009 1:37 PM EDT

Here we go. When Elvis died, the whole country was shaken---at least, some of you were. I could have cared less. Now that Michael is gone, here come the hecklers and myth carriers out of the woodwork. Sionce the man was NEVER convicted of any inappropriate behavior with children, the quip about Macauley Caulkins' 'underoos' and other snide comments are quite unnecesary.
The nonsense about 'honoring the troops' is equally pathetic. The troops have nothing to do with this, and Los Angeles is a celebrity city. That's what this country does for its celebrities. If these brave men and women's lives would have been valued, there would be no need to 'honor' them now. Bush sent all of these soldiers and others to their deaths, just so he could get his slimy hands on Iraqi oil. Add to that, his plan didn't work. This has nothing to do with a 'liberal' agenda. It is a sendoff to a music icon. Could the money have been spent better? Of course, but borrowing money to fight a war that did not need to be fought is equally disturbing.

You are right, and Brooke Shields, Kobe Bryant, Latifah, Mariah etc. who were at the memorial with their emotionally worded tributes, they said it all. Jackson was an enigmatic superstar who gave a lot to the world.

Don't let the negative bimbos on this board get to you.

timestoodstill: well said.
John Donne: 'If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls... it tolls for thee.'
