historic figure? historic celebration. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. more like a freak of nature and a circus fiasco. the jackson family should help the city of los angeles recover costs incurred by this "celebration." where i live, we have to pay to have police escorts for funerals. the jacksons are no different, they should have to pay as well. are they paying to rent the staples center and the nokia theatre? or did the owners of those venues gift the services to the family? with that family's wealth, it should be more than willing and able to cover the city's costs with this showboat of a funeral for a drug abuser who allowed little boys to "sleep" with him in his bed. businesses in that area will losing money since streets will be barricaded. how about reimbursing them?

i thank god every day that i chose to get out of the news business because of coverage like this. michael jackson was a man who created some good music and good dance, but he wasn't a god. he doesn't deserve day-to-day coverage we've seen following his death. and he certainly doesn't deserve all the news specials, and live coverage of his memorial service. that is something that should be left for presidents and royalty, neither of which was mj.

shame on the news media for shorting all of us others out here who care about things like nobama's health care plan, and his cap and trade bill that will be a fiasco for this country. there are other issues that are much more important than the "celebration" of mj, who will ultimately be remembered for the way he died, and the allegations against him, whether you believe them to be true or false. his music will not live on in history . . . everyone said that about the beatles and elvis, and few people talk about either any more. eventually, mj will fade from the news (it can't be soon enough for me), and all we'll hear about him in the years ahead is the marking of significant anniversaries of his death, the first, fifth, tenth, etc. and at some point, that will stop as well.

many of you need to stop viewing this man through rose-colored glasses, and see him for what he was, a sad, lonely man who died a likely drug-related death. what's to celebrate in that?

USE---------

WE live in the United States of Entertainment.

Meanwhile the people of Iran are fighting for freedom, North Korea are making nuclear bombs and sending same to who knows where, Hezbollah and Hamas are killing innocent people, the brave people of Iraq are testing freedom and fighting crazy radicals, and We are totally on the road to socialiam, your ability to choose your car, sell your home, and even go to your doctor etc are in the hopper.

Do we care ?

To Hamiltongrad,

Nope not in the least.

Iran's business is theirs, as is North korea's, Hezbollah and Hamas are doing nothing different than what the US and Israel are, You cannot choose your car, because you cannot afford one, you cannot sell your home because you are too greedy, asking too much for it, and you are free to go to any doctor you can afford, and that will not change.

So no, we don't care one bit. If you do, then it is entirely your own problem.

Does everyone hear the giant sucking sound?

That's the sound of all the leeches working over what is left of MJ.

I was no fan of the man, in fact, I felt he should have been sent to prison for child sexual abuse. But I am in shock at the blatant opportunism being displayed by the people that this poor guy had surrounded himself with.

Bury the body quietly and show some dignity.

Great Entertainment doesn't make a great person.
Michael did a lot for society's problems, ie We are the World....etc...
but his motives I question...since we know now he was a torn man....
We are the world for example is a statement on his former religion..
His former religion mission status was to get away from the world...
They don't mix socially with the non believers outside the Jehovah's Witnesses.
More precisely his character was too worldly for his religion.
His songs hint of rebellion against his religion and against society as well ie ....Leave me Alone.
We know his sexual prowess was with young minors even though he was acquitted in the eyes of the law, but not civil law as he paid a fortune to make his problems be gone.
Celebrate his music, but I warn you all, he was not a GOD.
The media, and society has behaved as if he is....let him rest now.

Right, businesses would be taking a day off and the streets would be closed just for this twice-accused child molester. You may say that he was never convicted of child molestation charges, but I don't look up to 12 idiot jurors who acquitted him, to decide truth or not. For God's sakes, the only people that should be showing up for this pedophile's memorial are Cardinal Roger Mahoney's priests.

Just because he did the damn moonwalk doesn't mean I have to give him his due. Where in the Constitution does it say that if somebody sings and dances, that he has to be treated like a national treasure??? And when he's masturbating 13-year old boys under the sheets, were supposed to ignore that part, right??????????

What a sick, disgusting world we live in.

Ivehadit9,
Once the funeral's over tomorrow you can go back to your front porch with your dog "duke" by your side. Pull your suspenders up and fetch some grub! Don't forget to take the old truck into town to get some fixins for supper!

I somewhat agree with above comment. OJ was not convicted and we all know what he did, at the least the ones with a brain in their head. But to cheer that they have a golden ticket, how sad. Its a funeral, not a concert (have a little respect). I may not agree with all the things Michael may have done, but I am sad that this man had to die so very young. You call yourselves fans, the true fans of Mr. Jackson would not be so happy to attend a memorial, but would be sad. I can't wait to see the sad people tomorrow cheering as they make theirselves look like fools. Just like Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton, the blood suckers who came out of the woodwork the minutes he died. Michael was not a racist, but those two are. And Mr. so called Father Jackson, lets see the tears (oh there are none) Your son left you out for a reason, you showed your true self again, you made money off your son, your son's dead and you promote a record after his death. Where are the true people who really loved this man (where were they to help this man) Money or not, you don't stand by and watch him die. How many star's have to die this way before their family step up and care about them. I truly felt sorry for Michael, what awful things did he grow up with to make him so very sad and to do some of the things he did. We will never know, of course many will make money off of him saying they knew him, since he can now have no voice over the lies or the truths. He is with his God, let him rest in peace and maybe for once in his life meet the only person who really loves him "faults and all". I am sure he was forgiven for any sin's he may have committed. God is all forgiving.
