One trip to Hawaii and never again. They were doing me a favor by letting me visit there. I have had rude treatment on vavation before especially in France but none was worse than Hawaii. Maybe all they are used to doing is ripping off servicemen but I was paying my own way and no more of my dollars will be going to Hawaii.

In my youth I visited Hawaii and was stationed at Hickam AFB. I just went into Honolulu just once. I learned my lesson. No one did anything to help anybody unless he/she was paid for it. The entertainers who met the tourists at the airport were employees of the tourist industry and very badly paid at that. They attitudes showed it. When the bags were placed in the hotel taxi, you had to pay for that. When you arrived at the hotel, you had to tip the bell hop. Everything was priced twice, sometimes three times, what the same thing would cost on the mainland. Because Hawaii is so commercialized, many tourists do not repeat their vacations there.

Apparently they think everyone in the other 49 states watches SNL and easily swayed by such parodies. One way they could lure more tourists to Hawaii is to build some jumbo jets that basically have all first class type seating and more restrooms onboard. The State of Hawaii could help subsidize them or get help paying for them with federal stimulus money. Many people are reluctant to travel to Hawaii because of the long uncomfortable coach class flights.

Please, gimme a break! SNL is producing some of the funniest things in a long while lately. The Hawaii skit was not only poking fun at Hawaii, but at jaded tourists, under appreciated wait staff, and all of the moronic things they are forced to do to earn a buck. No worse showing it in Hawaii, or Joe's Crab Shack, or Appleby's, or any of the other schticky places we know and love. Please give the viewing public the respect they deserve, and know that we don't believe that was an accurate depiction of Hawaii, and if tourism has taken a nosedive, it is because of the economy, stupid, not sn SNL skit. Get your feelings off your sleeves. The only thing worse than a bad economy for Hawaii's tourism trade is portraying yourselves as up-tight, no-sense-of-humor, anal retentives. Long live Lorne Michaels.
