- There is no doubt that LP''s have a better sound quality than any digital format. I have a couple of albums in both formats, and get a kick out of demonstrating the difference.
It''s always the same reaction: "I thought that digital was supposed to be better". Well, it''s not.
Is it worth the effort to get set up to play LP''s? For most people, probably not, but when only the best will do, . . .
Be warned, though, you probably won''t experience any real difference unless you have a better than average audio system. - Reply to this comment

Likewise for your CDs.
At least, a scratched LP can be fed through scratch removal software to remove hiss, click and pop. Some devices remove these sounds automatically.
Experience with CDs suggest they are fragile, too. - Reply to this comment
- The principal reason consumer technology changes is that vendors force the change.
This is not always to the advantage of the consumer, and legions of vinyl LP buffs remain willing to buy more LPs for years.
The pity is only Fred Meyer and a few others seem to understand it isn''t an either-or situation. - Reply to this comment
- I Still Have Many LP`s too
But many got destroyed by The Lifestyle I led ,..

- Analogue recordings usually sound purer to my ears. I am now in the market for a good turntable.

- I remember buying several copies of vinyl in the old days because they would wear out. I love DVD''s and digital music. I will never go back.

- neobrian, oh..how young people don''t know how us old folks take care of things. I have a collection of over 500 LP''s and they all sound like they''re brand new. I have had these albums for over 25 years and they have been taken care of. I don''t leave them lying around to get scratched, and my turntable''s needle is made of the hardest substance known to man and that is a diamond. The sound coming from an album is much better than digital, because eventually, the digital signal has to be converted back to analog, because that is what the human ear hears. For a long time I thought about selling my albums on eBay, but chose not to because I enjoy the music coming from them. Several of them I haven''t even opened since they were purchased, maybe tonight when I get home from work I will. Lp''s are the best.

- first any lp sounds 75% better than any cd-dvd.
second, my husbands hundreds of lp''s sound great, even the 57 lp''s i dug out of the mud after Katrina. a little soap and bleach and they are good as new minus the covers which are easy enough to replace.
lp''s are most definately back, every concert we go to (which is a lot) we buy an album. there are too many audiofiles out there for them to every be gone... - Reply to this comment
