Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross & Aretha Franklin have had careers in music. I don''t know what Winehouse is going to have but I seriously doubt that it''s going to be a career like those three. Maybe she''ll die of a drug overdose. Or frostbite.

Bands come & go. Have one hit. Maybe get some hype from the music press. Fail to live up to the hype with their second CD. Make their last gasp with their third CD which fails to sell then it''s back to selling music instruments to high schools or teaching pimply girls how to play the piano.

Examples of hyped bands that have faded away: The Strokes & The Darkness.

Other than Nirvana, you''d have a difficult time coming up with a truly great American band that has come out within the last 20 years.

Music sucks.

Amy Winehouse...another screwed-up showbiz broad.
Where do they all come from? Can normal people make it in showbiz?

So sad about Pimp C. Who the heck is he? I will try to "refrain from rumors and innuendo." Another black man dead before he''s 40.

Its unfortunate that we still live in a society where peoples worth is based on there looks. Women suffer from this far more than men do, and its a shame. Celebrities are just people, not some sort of perfect god or goddess, there airbrushed to perfection, beyond human reality. That is why the public is so shocked when they see them in the raw, with out the make up, the push up, and suck in things they wear on TV. They shouldnt be punished so brutally by the public, for going out in public a themselves.

What happened to those girls Oprah removed from her school in South Africa and transported to Houston to be "reprogrammed" by a phony doctor to avoid lawsuits related to O''s negligent conduct with respect to sexual abuse of those girls?

Amy Winehouse is a British singer who had a hit with a song called "Rehab." The song is ok. Not great. She is the flavor of the moment. Whether anyone will care about her five years from now, remains to be seen.

Thanks for the info. Obviously a young, new face on the scene, but already canceling tours, and bringing her personal problems to work.

Not a good start if she is planning a career from music.

Yes, Imus is The Great Satan. No doubt about it. What he said set back the civil rights movement 50 years. The horror, the horror. Enough already.

Brad Pitt is basically a good, decent guy. Not hung up on being a movie star.

Re Hewitt, if you''re a woman in showbiz, you''re body/looks/face are constantly scrutinized. Paparazzi are dying to take unflattering photos of all celebs, male & female. But there is definitely more interest in the female celebs walking around without makeup, going to the 7-Eleven in curlers/house slippers, cellulite, etc.

Actresses are always going to look better in a movie than in their real, private life. For the movie, they have hairdressers, makeup artists, wardrobe people, etc.

Hollywood is cold & brutal towards female actresses who hit 40. They expect women to look young & beautiful FOREVER.

I know I asked this before, but so far no one answered, who the heck is Amy Winehouse, and what has she done that merits celebrity?
