"Smith, who was named fourth runner-up at the pageant, lived a beauty queen's worst nightmare during the evening gown competition: she slipped and fell on stage."

She may have lost the pageant, but she achieved Youtube.com immortality.

From USAToday, last month: "Miss Mexico is toning down her Miss Universe pageant dress %u2014 not because it's too slinky or low-cut, but because its bullet-studded belt and images of hangings from a 1920s uprising have outraged Mexicans.
The floor-length dress is accented with crosses, scapulars and a sketch of a man facing a firing squad."

Whose brilliant idea was that ?

Miss USA showed a lot of class and was the real winner of the night. She could just have slunk off and pouted but she got back up and did what she had to do with class and dignity. When she was booed, she turned those boos into applause. We will be hearing more from her in the years to come.

I thought all of the contestants were stunning in their cultural wear Miss Jamaica she was beautiful I can hear Horsemouth from that movie Rockers telling her "Daughter mi love how yah just full a culture" She was the first Rastafarian to compete for Jamaica from what I understand Jamaica use to only allow light skinned blacks who did not look black or those who were non black to compete so this is a wonderful change.

I think what did it in for Miss Mexico was that her dress was too tight and she couldn't seem to walk in it properly . . . I can't believe this competition has been reduced to a walking competition. Back in the day before Donald Trump got a hold of it, the women used to have to answer several skill-testing questions - some silly some serious, some based on trivia - most designed to see how they thought on their feet. Like it gave beautiful women the chance to show how smart they were. Now it's all about gown selection and not slipping and getting a decent translator . . . somebody please tell Donald Trump 'you're fired' - ugh!

PS Since this competition became all about the walk, Miss Japan had the best walk for sure - it was very cute!
PPS The bald chick was cool until she started talking about being able to do anything a man can do - that always comes across not quite right . . . I was rooting for her until I heard that . . .

the audience Booed Miss USA because she didn't deserve to be in the top 5. She fell and 9 others didn't, it's that simple. The contest is a sham and totally rigged. have you noticed that the top three always include an Asian, a Latina and usually Miss USA (if she can stay on her feet). Miss Japan was average and would blend in with 100 other decent-looking asian women. Oh and somebody hire decent translators. I would have preferred the yellow letters at the bottom of the page. overall - the contestants where OK. kinda liked the bald one - she definitly had a beautifully pure face and unique look.

"^ Miss Korea didn't say she wanted unlimited amounts of money. The translator said it wrong. She meant that she wanted unlimited amount of money so she can help the people in need. Get it right dude."

i knew once some young kids who liked to weave jewelry of flowers in the meadows and sing the same songs over and over, ever rewriting the words ... i think those sorts of kids are the whole universe: yesterday today and forever ... i hope they win all the trails and all the front pages and i hope they stay there forever

omg - did you all catch the boos from the crowd after Miss USA made top 5 and Miss Mexico didn't? Yikes - that was so nasty! I wonder if that affected the outcome - like if Miss USA couldn't have the crown then a latina wasn't going to get it either sort of a deal . . . because both Miss Venezuela and Miss Brazil were stunning and had good answers to the questions. Miss Japan was cute, but her profile wasn't very attractive. And Miss Korea's answer about wishing she had unlimited amounts of money wasn't a good answer.

lol - pageants are silly aren't they?
