So sorry, Melinda. You're hands-down the best singer of the bunch. I think it was obvious to everyone, and the competition began centering on who would be second. The voters forgot that you'd still need votes to stay in. A lesson for today's reality TV voting shows!

Sometimes, it's just best letting professionals judge real talent talent. Otherwise, it IS just a popularity contest of teeny-boppers casting 5 and 10 votes for the trend of the day.

Two girls "screaming" 30 year old disco songs, and, if the guy is the best America has to offer, God help us. Where is the real talent from this generation? Where's the next Stevie Wonder, Eagles, Beatles, Joe Cocker? You would have never caught them back in the sixties and 70's on a lame show like this singing 30 or 40 year old songs for a bunch of middle aged judges! Could it be any more plastic? What a stupid idea ... let's pick an American Idol by having them sing "Build Me Up, Buttercup"!

NO NO NO!!!!

I screamed out loud when the announcement was made... I'm lucky I didn't get evicted.

I'm so mad!!!! The good news is she'll definitely get a recording contract, she's soooo talented. All three of her numbers Tuesday were amazing.

I am really shocked that Melinda was voted off American Idol. I am convinced that the show has ceased to be a talent show and has become a popularity contest. It is obvious that the american public has no knowlege about musical talent. I think American Idol is dooming itself to be a flop next year.

This is one man's opinion!!!

America got it wrong, but we learned a lesson:

take no sure thing for granted

Didn't you assume Melinda would be fine last night?
