Voters Did Not Save The Best For Last Episode

Complaining about who America voted for is rather naive. This is NOT a talent competition... it is a performance competition limited to singing. See any opera singers here? It is who people LIKE, not who is technically better. Most of America has no idea what constitutes an excellent singer, per se. They just know what they LIKE, and that is the way it should be.

The Acedemy Awards are similar: It is the voting for favorites, not for "BEST," as undefinable as that is. Every year people complain that the BEST didn't win.... puhleeeeez!

So people like Jordin and Blake better. So what? People are irritated that Melinda left because she was THEIR favorite. At this point people would have been irritated no matter WHO left. Jordin is younger, which helped, and Blake has inherited the Sanjaya vote. I personally like Jordin best, but she has it made now no matter who wins... we will see a lot more of her.

Idol profits from these unexpected departures because that makes every week even more tense because we know that NO ONE is really safe.

Hey, I liked Melinda too but let's get real for a change. Great singing ability is NOT what's it's all about. Never has been...never will be. Image is a huge part of the entertainment business. Let's look back at past idol winners. Kelly has been a huge sucess...she has it all...good voice, hot look etc. Ruben...great voice but he's not marketable to the masses..nothing unique. I loved Fantasia but again...the type music she chose to record...sorry it was boring. Carrie...she has it all..wide appeal..great looks..smart career moves. Which brings us to Taylor..great guy...good singer..but too one dimensional. On the other hand...look at runner up Chris Daughtry..idol image and a hit! Get the picture yet? There are a million good (great) singers around...but it takes that "it" factor to make it. Melina is certainly talented...but along with Ruben, Fantasia and Taylor...sorry no "it" factor. In my opinion Jordon and Blake both have it. Lastly, if you don't think image is God in entertainment..just remember Milli Vanilli!

Melinda deserves a great career. She was so consistent and so professional. Her voice was strong and good. She was humble and sweet and so very talented. Obviously Jordon and Blake had more people- maybe their age? voting for them.

What a shame, really thought that Melinda would be in the finals - she deserved it! I wish the very best for Melinda - she took that news so well - so mature!

I agree that Melinda was by far the most talented vocalist. If this were a pure singing competition, she would win. Then again, if this were a pure singing competition Sanjaya would never have been in the final 12.
The fact is that the votes are cast for a combination of vocal talent, charm and charisma. Melinda, sadly, does not fair as well in the charisma category compared to Blake...a very limited singer.
In the end, the show is about getting singers exposure in the hopes of cutting an album that sells. Melinda will get her album shot and sell millions...she is that good.

The only fitting end to this ridiculous, plastic show would be to crown "Beatbox" Blake the new American Idol! (Give us a break!) When is America gonna wake up and see what a stupid show this is?

Oh, please. Regardless of her innocent look, when Melinda was on stage, both her vocals and personality shined! She looked like the superstart that she is! Just because she did not have that "I've got more attitude than you" attitude doesnt mean she doesn't have charisma. I forget how some people hate to see others have a truly honest demeanor and down to earth personality.
