After thinking about this for a second, I have realized that we should all give the guy a break. It's tough getting paid big bucks to wake up in the morning, not take a shower or even comb your hair, go to work for four hours, and fill that time by spewing about all the things in this world that you hate, all while having gotten no sleep the night before after having spent all night hanging out in scuzzy bars trying not to drink or do cocaine. In other words, it's not your fault Don, and you did say you were sorry. I forgive you.

KEITHGARDNER: so by your definition, it is ok to make derogatory comments about anyone as long as you say "I'm sorry" when your livelihood is in jeopardy?

Are we sure that this idiot is free of cocaine and alcohol addiction as he claims to be? He is such a creepy, unclean and unsavory looking character. Has any evaluation ever been done of his fan base?

Imus should be cancelled ASAP!!!. The folks at NBC and Microsoft should be ashamed for paying to put this bigot on the air. I have asked myself for years now how it is that this guy gets to spout his junk on national TV and radio every morning. His show is idiotic. It's not news, not even news-talk. It's just trash.

P.S. Dear MSNBC: Please replace him with a hottie morning girl, like Robin Meade from CNN. She is so nice. Imus on the other hand is depressing and makes me want to die, or at least, change the channel.

You can complain to the FCC about Don Imus. I filed a complaint online. I may be contacting the NAACP and other organizations to see if they will follow suit in filing a FCC complaint - maybe if they get enough fines they will pull the show. Here's the link to the FCC: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html The company that owns wfan is http://www.infinitybroadcasting.com

Pass it along. Let's get this show off the air!!!

I am sick of people making bigotted comments like this and then they turn around and apologize for it. That is bs, keep your apology. Everything that comes out of your mouth was meant to be said. Be a man. He apologized because it may damage his career or his manager/station told him to. rickflowe your comment regarding the Duke allegations...apples and oranges. You are reaching too far baby. Keep focused. Imus was talking about a basketball game and should have stuck to the story. The fact that he doesn't like their hairstyles or their race is irrelevant and his comment regarding their promiscuity was unfounded. If he wants to go on rants insulting races he should hook up with the KKK and create a show that flat out discusses that topic. rickflowe, in regards to your comment regarding hip hop music, don't forget who really runs the music industry, who buys the CDs and attends the concerts, white america. When a black artist comes out with something positive, uplifting and creative they don't get the backing that a gangster rapper would get because that is not the image that sells. That is not the image that is deemed "believable" or "marketable". Yes, there are performers out that should have never been put into the spotlight, but who put them there. Behind every song with "ho" and "b___" in their lyrics is a Tony Matola, Clive Davis and others. It really amuses me since people of ALL races and colors are spending millions of dollars to emmulate what they think we are.

why do racists and bigots apologize? why aren't folks like Imus and Newt man enough to stand up for what they feel and say? Speaking of Imus, who is his fan base? He is such a disheveled and unsavory looking character, I can't imagine who finds him appealing. Also, MSNBC is being very hypocritical. But after reading the comments of folks such as rickflowe, I can understand who fans of Imus may be.

If all black folk acted like Bill Cosby, Condi Rice, Cornell West, Louis Henry Gates, Andrew Young, Shirley Chisholm, Oprah Winfrey, instead of Bobby Brown and every sh*t talking rapper and black preacher, we wouldn't have a problem. But black folk just have to act out, don't they? Just gotta be different? When you're in the minority, you adjust to get along with the majority. Them's be da rulz, son.

Meanwhile, why doesn't the black community go after that nappy-headed 'ho (sorry, my mistake, she had braids)that got naked for the stupid, young, rich, white boys at the Duke lacrosse house? How was she acting black and proud, like Rosa Parks? How come black teenagers mugged Rosa Parks? How come they didn't know who she was? Why do black people keep doing the same stupid stuff over and over again, and then get all uppity when a white man calls them on it?

Cultural sterotyping is based upon reality. Imus wouldn't say "'ho'" unless the word had been pushed to the front of popular black culture. Don't say it if you don't want to hear white people saying it. White people have loved to mimic black people ever since it became cool to be black. But like Davey J. says, 'Everyone wants to be black until the cops show up.' Black folk need to police themselves. It's like watching your language around a three year old; you don't want your kid cussing, don't cuss in front of him. Same way with white people.

You can't act like a 'ho and not expect to be called a 'ho. I'm going to have to blame the victim on this one. You know Imus is going to say upsetting things; don't let it get to you. You can't change people's perceptions overnight. If your popular culture says act stupid, violent and misogynistic, white people are going to lump you all into that basket. Stand up against the ******. Don't let them air your dirty laundry. White people want to believe that black people are all the same, just as black people want to believe that white people are all the same.

There's a new book out, written by a black female scholar, which asks the question, 'Why do smart, black females put up with the misogynistic lyrics of hip-hop and rap?' It is exactly because black women do not stand up against their poor portrayal in black popular culture that leads the rest of us to think it's OK to refer to them as 'nappy-headed 'ho's.'

You have a choice, people; You can choose to not listen if you don't like what you're hearing, or seeing. There's plenty of content out there.
Imus' comment, and Bernie's comment reflect society at large.
