Another professor at the university said that Alicia Estrada wants an apology from Mel Gibson. "He needs to apologize not only to the professors, to the Central American Studies program, but also to the Mayan community for saying things that are inappropriate," said Douglass Carranza.

Quit expecting apologies. They mean nothing if they aren't given freely. He lost his temper. Is she going to apologize for continually interupting him?

He was a guest at a film class. The "expert" kept interupting him.
I consider that to be disrespectful not only to Mr. Gibson but to the others in the class. Were her "questions" during a question and answer period? She exercised her free speech and she got a taste of it back.

When I spoke of Mel Gibson being drunk and saying racial slurs, I meant when he was pulled over by the cops, not this incident.

Why would he need to apologize to the entire "Mayan community" because he told one lady to 'f*** off'? That's ridiculous.

Given the venue, they were both out of line. Which came first - the chicken or the egg? From this reporting, we really cannot know. So many, so quick to judge with only biased facts reported. Hmm - rather puts me in mind of a similar situation having to do with a current war.

How about everyone just pick out their stone and decide who will be the first to throw it. Personally, I am not perfect enough to do that.
I did not care for Mel Gibson one way or the other until I saw "Passion of the Christ". He now holds my respect for the way he portrayed how Jesus really did suffer. And die.

Funny. And interesting. The article never said that Gibson was drunk during the confrontation yet 4 out of 10 posters referred to him as being drunk. Just goes to show you what his image has become.

I don't particularly like Gibson, but I don't care for hecklers either.

OBTW: markjessup is a troll, a flamer. He makes the same comment on every comment board he gets on. He will same the same thing about me. Oh well... I suspect he's the victim of a molestation, or perhaps, a molester.

You are right people do say foolish things when they are drunk. They also speak what they feel and it is what he spoke that is the problem. Do you think he would have spoken racist slurs if he wasn't a racist person?

Since none of us was there, heard what was said by either person or what let up to his (supposedly) telling the woman to f--- off, what business does anyone have passing judgment? For all we know, she spent 10 minutes solid yelling "a$$hole" at him.

We don't know the story, and the story above doesn't tell it. And besides, at the end of the day, who cares? So someone heckled a speaker and he swore at her. So what?
