Woman Died Despite Listener Warning On Danger Of Chugging Too Much Water
- The radio station should approve all contests and research the possibility of danger so that contestants can be made fully aware before attempting something that can potentially kill them. This stunt had dangers that seem to be known, therefore a doctor needed to be present to monitor the contestants and take emergency action as might have been needed. The station management is where the axe should fall not the hairbrained disc jockeys who are under pressure to come up with ways to stay at the top of the heap.

- "yeah, we're aware of that" BUT WE'RE NOT F'ING DOING THE DRINKING SO DRINK UP AND DIE ***!
That's the mentality of these twisted low intelligence morning DJ's. And to make FUN of her for saying she might be sick???
They deserve involuntary manslaughter charges, at the least, I'm not expert on law, but they knowingly admit on air they knew it was potentially fatal and still did this retarded "CONTEST".
Here, I've got an idea for a contest - we let em loose all at once and we see if they can survive 10 hungry lions that are released 5 seconds after them!!! It'll be GREAT for ratings......

- The DJ, and any others who were told this could be fatal - I think they're all on the hook for murder - probably involuntary, maybe the "depraved indifference" variety - but they knew this could kill, and continued doing it. The one who ridiculed her for thinking she could be sick - maybe something a bit higher than involuntary.
When you go into a contest, you don't think they're going to kill you - she had no reason to think her life or health was at risk! It's the fault of those who set up the contest. - Reply to this comment
- How awful for this to have happened to someone so young, and her poor children.
Well.... Does anyone know if her children atleast got the Wii? Not that it makes the situation any better, but atleast she wouldn't have died in vain. - Reply to this comment
- These Djs are the reason I have an Itunes account.

- They signed releases so we're not responsible.
So you could give these people a loaded gun and have them fire it at each other without fear of prosecution? BS
Heres a contest for you lets see who can wear a sealed plastic bag over their head the longest. Any takers?
Its a tragedy Strange should have know that water will kill you, But the station had an obligation to explain the dangers.
I would charge most of them with involuntary manslauther the one who dismissed the warning should get more time. - Reply to this comment
- Here's a prime example of the punks who dominate morning radio today. "Legends In Their Own Minds" and totally unaccountable to anyone. Management turns a blind eye, too busy counting the money and ratings points, until something utterly stupid like this happens. Where's the news director to warn that a stunt like this was potentially dangerous? "Oh, we don't DO news," unless you mean Lindsay Lohan's latest car crash. For those of you who wonder why no managers were axed because of this, don't worry. They'll have their day, in court!

- Once again we don't even consider the well being of another human being. The DJ's knew it could cause problems, they didn't care...an innocent person died!!! Fire them!!!! they should be held accountable!!!A person died because of their wreakless, selfish, disconcerning attitude for someone elses life!!!The Perfect Crime! Have someone sign a waivor, "if you die it's not my fault", and then let um go!!!
What a sad society we've become when we create stunts like this and [as many of you have said below- Hey it was their choice!] and someone dies
and no one cares!!!!!!I'm apauled that some of the comments I've read "condone" what these people did! Hey it wasn't my fault, I told them the gun was loaded! I didn't pull the trigger!
But then again maybe the girl that died thought it was worth her life to try and win that game and the DJ's thought
"Are you willing to DIE for it!!!!! - Reply to this comment
- The employees should NOT have been fired. How petty and pompous of the management to throw their employees to the wolves and tuck tail and run. I would never contemplate dying from drinking too much water, and while it is very sad and unfortunate that this woman had to die, it is not the fault of the employees of the station. She entered the contest and drank the water of her own free will. If there is reason to believe that these contestants were mislead or that the dangerous info was withheld from them, then thats a different story. I'm sure the "management" knew of the contest before it took place. If any firing should have been done it should be the management for allowing the contest to take place.
