Steve Irwin's Family: He'd Want To Be Remembered As 'Ordinary Bloke'
- THE CROCODILES ARE CRYING Cont'd
But he made the world feel happy with his energetic burst
A world so large and loyal that it%u2019s hard to comprehend
I doubt we truly count the warmth until life meets an end
To count it now I say a prayer with words of inspiration
May the spotlight shine forever on his dream for conservation
%u2026My daughter broke the news to me %u2013 my six year old in tears
It was like she%u2019d just turned old enough to show her honest fears
I tried to make some sense of it but whilst her Dad was trying
His little girl explained it best%u2026she said "The crocodiles are crying"
Their best mate%u2019s up in heaven now %u2013 the crocs up there are smiling!
And as sure as flowers, poems and cards and memories are piling
As sure as we%u2019ll continue with the trademarks of his spiel
Of all the tributes worthy %u2013 he was rough%u2026but he was real
As sure as %u2018Crikey!%u2019 fills the sky
I think we%u2019ll miss ya Steve%u2026goodbye

- THE CROCODILES ARE CRYING
Endless visions fill my head %u2013 this man %u2013 as large as life
And instantly my heart mourns for his angels and his wife
Because the way I see Steve Irwin %u2013 just put everything aside
It comes back to his family %u2013 it comes back to his pride
His animals inclusive %u2013 Crikey %u2013 light the place with love!
Shine his star with everything he fought to rise above
The crazy-man of Khaki from the day he left the pouch
Living out his dream and in that classic %u2018Stevo%u2019 crouch
Exploding forth with character and redefining cheek
It%u2019s one thing to be honoured as a champion unique
It%u2019s one thing to have microphones and spotlight cameras shoved
It%u2019s another to be taken in and genuinely loved
But that was where he had it right %u2013 I guess he always knew
From his fathers%u2019 modest reptile park and then Australia Zoo
We cringed at times and shook our heads %u2013 but true to natures call
There was something very Irwin in the make up of us all
Yes the more I care to think of it %u2013 the more he had it right
If you%u2019re going to make a difference %u2013 make it big and make it bright!
Yes - he was a lunatic! Yes - he went head first!

- My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have really enjoyed the engery and excitment that I recieved each time I watch a show on discovery or on animal planet. He will be missed by all who ever came to see what he would do next. Most of all, I will still remember hearing him say Whooo! God Bless the entire family and the staff with whom he worked with. - As an avid watcher of Animal Planet and other nature based programs, I am ashamed that we don't take more time to recognize the gift that people like Steve Irwin provide to us every day. His death struck me as if he was part of my own family and this surprised me as I have never reacted to these types of situations before. It goes to show how much of an impact they really do make and obviously how much of an impact Steve made on me and my family and others around the world. I will miss him and I won't forget what he has taught me. By remembering, I believe this is the greatest tribute we can give. I only hope that his family can take some comfort in this.

- Our prayers go out to the family. But how many of us get to do something postive and get to do what Mr. Irwin did? Not many I would say. He died do something he believed in teaching us about animals. Its terrible and we all will miss him. Thanks for the wonderful memorys that we will all have of a fun loving man trying to save and teach people around the world about animals. My deepest regets, The Burnett Family Glenwood, Arkansas

- Not since Princess Diane's death has the world as a whole morned a beloved individual. Steve Irwin made a positive impression on all who saw or heard him speak for conservation. I am a USA middle-class baby boomer with sons of my own. Steve Irwin was global son in who we were all very proud. My prayers are with his family and friends who struggle through the hard days ahead.

- Many hours of enjoyment. I really liked the work he did and you always were aware of his concern for the animals he dealt with. I will miss his class act.

- Steve always left us smiling inside and out, and his enthusiasm was absolutely contagious... because it was real. And I'm sure there's a few grinning crocks who are just waiting for him to pass through those Pearly Gates!

- Why would a CORONER need the footage for evidence, considering this was an accident? As intellegent as Steve is, I would think that he would know better, than to pull (anything that would enter his heart back out...especially with serated ends) back out. It doesn't make any sense. His best friend was able to stand and watch this type of action unfold in front of his eyes? Why didn't anyone stop him? Technically, I suppose this would be considered a suicide?
My daughter and I loved to watch his show together. I considered him MORALLY Sound, in his presentation. However, he didn't do things the way everyone else does. ALL THINGS will surface. REALITY T.V can hurt you. The surface has only been seen. DIG a little DEEPER and PLEASE give us some answers that make sense. - Reply to this comment

- Terri,
We are praying for your family, as well as for all of the people who worked with Steve. I sat up last night and watched Steve in an interview crying about every person in his family that he loved so dearly; about his love for animals and the need for awareness. His passion will live on forever. You and your children are blessed to have him in your hearts as well as your and our memories. God Bless.

- Terri,
First of all let me say that I am truly sorry for your loss. We all loved to watch you and Steve. I remember watching a program in which Steve got upset talking about the death of his Mother and it made me well up as well. He loved every animal he touched and his death will only confirm one of the messages that he tried to get out there about the dangers of wild animals. Our love goes out to your family.

- When I first read about it online via MSNBC, I was just totally stunned. I watched his shows all the time. I'd bet that Steve's American fans who watched him on Discovery channel will miss him too.

- My deepest condolences to the Irwin family. I would like to thank Steve for helping me to connect to my young son (he is eight now). Steve's was the first show Jack and I would watch together, and our family has many happy memories in which the Crocodile Hunter played no small part. Steve was a huge positive influence in Jack's early years (the first year he was old enough to choose his own halloween costume, he was "Crocodile Hunter"). Thank you from our family to yours, and we wish you love.

- As a nature loving family we always enjoyed watching Steve and his adventures, not only to watch the show but to learn something new that we did not know before sittting down and watching. We are huge fans and were heartbroken when we heard the news. I hope his family is comforted with the fact that he was doing what he loved and would have wanted to go that way if given the chance to decide. Our prayers are with his family.
