- To the Irwin family: I am very sorry for your loss. Steve made people aware of something more than urban life; He showed us nature and it's wildlife and respect for it. Whether people like Steve or not, he left us with a positive look at nature and life. He is a good man and will be missed. Sincerely, Stan

- You may or may not agree with me because every one of us his/her own opinions.
I think Mr.Steve has got what he deserved due to two reasons:
1] For how long would you survive risks, again and again? this is not only once, he had also been stunk by venomouse life threatening snakes many times.
2] If you disturb animals, pick them and interfere in nature then animals possess an equal right. Animals cant speak but one might expect that they felt it awsome humans trying to interfere them and making noise like that person used to sing songs loudly and hunt animals.
I am with nature and animals :o) lol.
Dont disturb nature, let animals live wherever and in the way they would like.
Being a human, Mr. Steve was a nice person and I had seen his few programs in which he always disturbed animals running behind them.
So for how long Crocodiles tolerate him for his disturbing jokes and pranks? - Reply to this comment

- Oh, that's right. Unless you live in obscurity then you can't make a difference. All I hear from you, Bunionbreath, is blah, blah, blah. Mr Irwin did more to educate people of these creatures and their habitats than 20 of your so called experts have. In obscurity is exactly where they are, accomplishing little or nothing in comparison.

- You said it. Mr. Irwin was an "entertainer" not a "conservationist!" You obviously know nothing about the conservation movement. You know Irwin's net worth? It is 14 million dollars. Most biologists and conservationsists work their whole lives in obscurity doing things more important than this man. He did no real science. He just titilated people with danger.

- Good on ya, mate...Mr.Irwin, you've left an indelable mark on the whole world! You've led your life as you saw fit. You brought a sense of appreciation for reptiles to the entire world. You have lived more in your 44 years than 44 other men do in their entire lifetimes. The manner in which you met your maker, was one in which you were doing what you loved ( bravo...I should be so lucky) and two, it was as unusual as you were. Let us all drink a toast to Steve "Crikey" Irwin. My heart-felt sympathy, for those that are left to carry on: to my fellow Oregonian, ( Mrs. Irwin) and their two children. May your tears retreat to gentle smiles. May your hearts mend with time. May the work on Steve continue in you, his family. We're all looking forward to seeing his legacy live on.
In memory of a one-of-a-kind Aussie: Steve Irwin.
Wow. You were a real gem, mate. Never again will someone fill those boots.
Sincerely,

- To Miss Bunionboob,
Mr Irwin hardly exploited animals, and if anything saved more animals than the biologists and ecologists you refer to by educating the masses. He was heavily involved in conservation and was a fierce advocate for preserving natural habitats. He will be missed by millions. What are the names of these so called experts that disagreed with Steves methods, and where can I find their work? Maybe his exuberance got the best of him sometimes, but there will never be a more entertaining personality, and I personally will miss his shows and appearances as much as anyone.
Rest in peace Steve Irwin, and thank you. - Reply to this comment
- Dear Steve:
May you bring to The Creator all the joy which you brought us here on earth. Your love of God's creatures on this earth was truly selfless.

- You can only cheat death so many times, eventually it will win. Although he was a brillant entertainer, his luck ran out. I am sorry for his wife and son.

My big condolence to his family...He is really a great person in dedicating his time to conserv the nature..
Me myself from Sabah, Malaysia did feel the pain of losing the greatest Steve Irwin, the greatest conservationist..

- Dear Mr. Phelps-Thomas,
The media's job is not to tell us only positive things. This man may be beloved by many, but the fact is that his disturbing behavior with is children (putting them within inches of crocodiles during a public show)is part of his past. Irwin died of a "freak" accident. What if he had had a similarly "freak" accident when holding his baby inches from the croc and it fell and was crushed or bitten?
Many biologists and ecologists believe that people like Irwin do more harm than good by exploiting wild animals and the few remaining wild habitats that exist on the planet. - Reply to this comment
- Dear Media:
I believe it to be in extremely poor taste, for your reports on Steve Irwin's [freak] tragic death, to be over shadowed with the video clip [being shown over & over] of Steve w/ his month old son, Bob, in the crocodile pen.
This man has brought animals & people together, like no other. His boyish exuberance and enthusiasm was contagious. His love & passion was genuine. Every time he spoke of an animal, it was like the first time he had seen it. His devotion & dedication to environmental education was phenomenal. He was a true hero to many people, the earth & it's creatures.
The focus of your reports should be on the positive aspects of "The Crocodile Hunter's" life. Not the negative incident in 2004. He was so much more than that. You are doing him, the pubic and yourselves a disservice.
God bless you Steve Irwin. You will be sorely missed.
With gratitude & solemn regrets,
J. Phelps-Thomas

- Regardless of his past mistakes, he was an exuberant individual, who wanted to teach the world of things we are unsure of. He will be sadly missed. Special condolences are sent to his family, near and far.
