- When push comes to shove,I suggest we start eating Dogs.Apparently, they taste like pork ,according to the antartic explorer Roald Amundson, Who ,with his fellow explorers was forced to eat his sled dogs whilst on an expedition.Cats are als supposed to be quite tasty. After world war 1,Starving Germans were forced to eat Cats often reffered to humorously as ''Dach Hasen"' (Roof Rabbits) Bon Appetit!

- fred-mann, AAWE is a non-profit. Non-profits are legally tax-exempt and exist on grants and donations, which are also tax-deductible contributions. In other words, taxpayers funded this study.

- As a kid at home, I often chowed down on our Siberian Husky's food supply. Hey, it was dry dog food and tasted better than my stepmother's cookin' 90 % of the time. LOL
So dont go thinkin' you are not gonna eat it someday soon cuz when you run outta Spam , you will most certainly head for that 40 lb . bag of Beef Flavoured Chunks. - Reply to this comment

- How about this: You come near my dog, I'll kill you and eat you. That work for ya? Culture in denial...
Denial of what? I'm not starving. My neighbor's aren't either. You know what denial is? Denial is poor people reproducing at higher rates that are unsustainable to both them and the society that feeds them all while no one says a THING.
Yeah, eat dogs, eat cats, eat rats...great solutions. I'm sure you also think putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound is a good idea. The problem is there are to many people consuming and to few producing, simple as that. If you would break out of YOUR denial we could address the real problem instead of continuing our selfish and cowardly decline.
Like I said earlier though, you want to take it there fine. Just stay away from my home, the fight you get there might not be worth the food. What's more natural then that?

- It's a dog's world.
If we start eating dog food, I guess FIDO is going to be out of luck.
He better get used to eating Cat's food. - Reply to this comment
- People don't realize that the French originally went to some of these more questionable protein choices, like pate and escargot (snails), because they were starving. When the nobility is taking all the choice cuts, and all you're left with is liver, well, you do what you must. No wonder it takes like dog food. Originally, that's what it was.

- Why are 'wine economists' doing a survey on dog food and how much of my hard-earned tax dollars funded this ridiculousness?

- I don't eat much pate' but I am rather fond of braunschweiger, which I guess is technically a liver pate'. Considering I can buy a rather large container of it for a couple of bucks and the price of the free range, organic dog foods, I think I'll stick to what I know on some nice wheat Ritz crackers. Every time there's a recession, out come the stories about people resorting to eating dog food without thinking about the fact that canned dog food is really pretty expensive per pound.

- Maybe this doesn't speak to the quality of dog food, but to the quality of pate.
