- Please, dear God, can''t you get this buffoon, Bush, out of office any sooner before he does further and permanent damage to the United States? Unbelievable that he was put in office not only once but twice by the gullible voters who bought into his line of BS about keeping the U.S. safe. He has done more harm to the U.S. and created more terrorists than ever existed before. Now he wants to unleash environmental terrorists to tear down the beautiful mountains and further pollute our streams and ground water. I would rather see thousands of wind mill farms on the hills and mountains rather than see one more mountain or hill leveled to make the buddies of Bush any richer. Jobs can be created in these areas without having to destroy Mother Earth who has given us so much. Create jobs to clean out the forests of dead and dying trees and debris in all the mountainous areas so as to not have tinder for the fires to take a hold so ferociously saving lives, homes and businesses in the process. With the leaves now off the trees it is easy to see the danger presented by the fallen trees and the growing masses of dead and dying trees being choked by their own kind. Thin them out, giving jobs to many that would be much safer and do no harm to the environment like mindless minding does.

- Well Caribu Barbie that region of the countrty couldn''t be completely leveled. It''s like drilling in ANWAR; It''s only a small area affected compared to the whole scope of the region( Kentucky,West Virginia,Virginia..Let''s not forget Pennsyvania also)

- Hello jbrown88881,
How many mega machines have you seen driving coal trucks? Land serveying? Calculations on depth and degrees of slope for the mining? And to fill you in,there''s only one big corporation that''s into mining now, most of the mines are owned by local people who live in the region.Don''t give me this hype of "It''s the Rich VS. the Poor "***, it''s about a bunch of people not even familar with the area spouting their agenda and not taking into account the people that are affected. - Reply to this comment

What will West Virginians do when all the mountains ae leveled, all the rivers and lakes are poisoned and the air is too polluted to breathe?
It''s like taking a dump in your own bathwater. It doesn''t make sense.- Reply to this comment

Bush is determined to finish recking the country before he leaves in disgrace. In 8 short years he''s accomplished what no terrorist ever could. He''s bankrupted the country, broken our military, crippled the economy and decimated the environment.
Bush is hands down the worst President in U.S. history and one of the worst leaders the world has ever seen.- Reply to this comment
- I''d wager the majority of the people posting today have never been to W VA/VA. I''m from Southwestern VA/Southern W VA and know first hand the poverty and dispair in that region. Those people are not a bunch of rubes or backward hillbillies as they are branded as but proud, hard working people who have a general distrust for outsiders, espically those who preach about the destruction of Mother Earth by the "self-Centered,Self Serving Human Race". Let''s put this into perspective; If the age of the earth was based on a 24 hour cycle, the Human Race has only been here one Second! I cannot belive that we,in general, have done so much damage in the past 200 years(the industrial age)to our planet that everything from Global Warming to metorites striking the earth can be blamed totally on us.That region of the U.S. can only benefit from the improvement not destruction to the area.Just ask any of those people who cannot get a job and provide for their families because of too many restrictions on their chosen line of work what they think. And don''t go rambling on about "They can move and get jobs some where else, the don''t have to dig coal, the use of coal must be stopped!" Because as you''re typing most likely the power plant that''s providing your electricity is powered by COAL.

- But he is making all of the wrong moves. History will judge this Administration EXTREMELY HARSHLY. And these last minute Executive Orders will seal the deal as Worst President Ever!

He sealed the deal when he pardoned Libby; that overtly showed his arrogance, lack of judgement, pettiness, corruption and total lack of understanding of what the american people wanted. He quite successfully divided our country. The greatest lie in history? "I''m a uniter, not a divider". Maybe his lack of reading skills contributed to that quote, he just got "i" and the "t" backwards (untier). Bush stinks! - Reply to this comment

- If you want to lower the use of coal. Call and have your power turned of today. Al Gore should be the first to call.

Neocon fearmongering and backwards thinking at its finest. No one is saying that coal can''t be mined. Just don''t destroy the environment while you''re at it because you want to do it on the cheap.
Americans are tired of corporations doing whatever they want only in order to save costs for themselves without any sense of social obligation to the citizens of this country and to our children''s future. There are numerous examples. - Reply to this comment
