No worries mate, Captain Kirk will be along soon in a Klingon Bird-of-Prey to whisk away the little fella into the future.

Give me a break, let nature run its course or butcher it to feed some hungry humans.

Baby whales can''t survive in the wild by being fed by humans. They''re doing the only thing they can by ending the poor baby''s suffering.

I feel heartbroken that the whale is looking for a nurturing mother and is only finding boats. But it''s suffering, and that needs to end. I think that what the authorities there are doing is right. Nature isn''t fair, and this is one case. Let the whale die in peace and let''s move on.

Some of you people just make me want to vomit!!!I love animals, don''t get me wrong. But this is how nature works!!! You are all up in arms about doing what is the right thing... not let this baby whale suffer any longer than neccessary!!! You make me sick!!! When is the last time any of you became this vocal about a human child??? There are hundreds of thousands of orphaned children in this country... when is the last time you tried to feed one of them, or save their life???

It is deplorable to know that not once did 1 person try to feed this baby whale, NOT EVEN ONCE. Better to have tried and failed than to have not tried at all.

Apparently, the plan was for it to be shark food.

Yours? :) None of us has a life around here... unless we''re aspiring journalists and/or commentators, but we have a greater chance of winning the lottery, getting hit by lightning, or eating raccoon roadkill...

It sounds like all options have been considered. This is a sad case indeed.

I do not believe large whale species (larger than orcas) can survive in captivity. Also, humpbacks are filter feeders. You cannot just toss them fish.

"It" mistakes boats for mother. ''Mistake.'' Whale needs help, but give it an injection to put it to sleep. Um um
