Two Decades After His First Warning, Global Warming Expert Says Situation Has Worsened
- And if I have to hear the phrase "liberal elite" regurgitated one more time, I''m going to scream. It''s like school kids making fun of the "brain" in class - grow up! Disagree & debate, but it''s completely idiotic to think that name-calling is some sort of clever argument. That''s what bumper stickers are for!

no one is predicting a "warmer climate." If you somehow associate that with global warming, well you need some edumacation quickly. - Reply to this comment
- The truth is, even if Global Warming is a true fact of science, it wil NOT effect people that are adults now. I for one could care less about your precious little snowflakes or your grand snowflakes for that matter, so **** and buy them some sunblock.

- It''s ridiculous to argue about how this started; the planet IS warming, so why would we NOT try to do everything we can to not make that worse? Duh! But then, most of the skeptics will climb on board once there''s money to be made. We don''t have to go broke to run our house better, but we better not let profit be our driving force. We certainly didn''t let money stand in the way of this stupid Iraq debacle, so don''t at least owe our planet that much?

- Why is the entire solar system warming.
Why does Jupiter have two global storms now?
Why has Earth gone into and out of ICE ages?
A liberal elite shell game to make money for doing nothing!

- Stop globule whining. More scare tactics for the dumb down American who would believe this BS.
They got caught with holding hidden information from the world. For instance Henry Ford "you know the guy that invented the car" For the dumb downed Americans
Mr Ford created a car BUT how could this car run on fuel cause there was no oil found at this time in history.
The car needed fuel and that fuel was HEMP the fuel that keep''s on giving cause it''s a weed stupid and it grows with out much labor and needs no pesticedes
It burns 100 percent and doesn''t require "WAR" to fill up.
Why don''t you stupid Americans stand up for yourselves And stop killing other people and taking there resources. Get your own and FU - Reply to this comment
- A clear pattern is discernable here. We have the religious zealot right-wing Republican guard (Bush Regime Religious Dogma Fanatics) expending tremendous efforts to have "Creation Theory" (biblical theory of creation) taught in the schools. Creation Theory is conclusively refuted by all respected scientific evidence throughout the World. And we have the religious zealot right-wing Republican guard (Bush Regime Religious Dogma Fanatics) expending tremendous efforts to prevent stem cell research that could save millions of lives and alleviate great suffering. So we have an opaque, dogmatic fanatic right-wing anti-science Republican moron mentality that wants us to reject ''science'' completely, and go follow them to Jonestown where the CoolAid refreshments will help dispel our environmental fears. So the lines are clearly drawn here and the options are plain to see. Who wants to take the road to the Republican Jonestown CoolAid refreshment stand and who wants to take the road recommended by the most respected scientific experts on this planet in the field of Oceanic and Atmospheric Climate science? For myself, fruit juice is far superior to CoolAid.

If it left up to people like you, we would still be in the dark ages.

No, it''s debunkers like me that brought the Enlightenment. Global Warming people think there is some black spell on the earth. They are the ones who are backward and unscientific. They push GW because it reinforces a social and economic bias that is right out of the Dark Ages. - Reply to this comment
- Another threat regarding climate change is developing and needs immediate attention. The wood stove industry and the makers of the most menacing outdoor wood furnaces are stepping up advertising saying they have the solution to rising fuel prices. Not only will these be adding to the greenhouse gases but will demand deforestation to feed them. Last week at a local hardware I saw nine of these huge outdoor wood furnaces in their parking lot with "sold" signs on them. This is an indication of this fast growing problem that is deadly serious. Just one of these in a town has caused enough illness to cause the residents to rise up and pass a banning ordinance. This is another sad aspect to this story as many people will be spending a great sum of money to purchase and install one of these because they can''t afford oil to heat next winter only to have the use of their purchase eventually banned. Wouldn''t it be great if this misery could be prevented by getting the story out now.

- One thing to say to them, shut the heck up! Most of us don''''t care about your whining, we have to figure out how to get to WORK, something you worthless wastes of flesh should try now and again. (And no, harassing people on the street to get them to join GreenPeace or MassPirg or Peta or any other wacko group does not count. Work means like, oh I don''''t know, a JOB!) Perhaps if these people had to work and support themselves and families, they would have less time to deny others jobs those new coal plants would provide.
Posted by ourtomorrows at 10:56 PM : Jun ..yanno Iam a smallbuisiness owneer in texa, middle aged white male etc .minor noteyou dont own the working man mantle ,I have children ,the scientific research says global warming is happening , exacerbated by our behaviour ..you want destructive behavoiour rewarded by money?sell drugs ..dont blame responsible people providing jobs who think we cant ignore it and have our own responsibility to limit the effects. - Reply to this comment

Sounds more like a regligious/political persucution than sound science. hk94" I dont kow what scientists you are talking about ,but all the major scientific orgs.say global warming has been hastened by human activity ..go on back to your talk radio .. the majority of peer reviewed research says global warming is exacerbated by human activities with a 90% chance of probability ,,so feel free to post links to your pseudo scientific links,

- This is all going to backfire....if you tell someone that they can help save the world for future generations that is one thing....but to suggest that it will all be over in 20 yrs is suicide to the mission. Nobody believes we can reverse things in that short period of time and will feel like it is a hopeless case and simply give up.

- Just more fear-mongering!
All you hear from these eco-stooges are the catastrophic perils that are just around the corner.
Why won''t any of them acknowledge that there are ALSO benefits from a warmer climate.
Milder winters will mean less people DIE from the cold. You hear about it every year how hundreds die because they cannot keep warm or over-exert themselves shoveling snow.
Warmer weather means LESS threat from hurricanes.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7404846.stm
Warmer weather means longer growing seasons AND the ability to grow crops in areas previously unable to support them. Maybe enough extra land so that bio-fuels will become practical.
A little more "look for the silver-lining" and a little less "the world is about to end", please. - Reply to this comment
- Merapti erupted in about 1350 AD, launching the "Little Ice Age" and ending the "Medieval Heat Wave". The Little Ice Age gave us years with out summers, and its effects lasted into the early 1800''s. Now the Earth is reverting to pre Merapti Temperatures. We are reverting to the time when Greenland was green and North Africa was the breadbasket of the Roman Empire.
Change is natural and has always ocurred. We have always had to learn to adapt. We need to begin learning to adapt to this change also, because we have been there before and it is going to happen. - Reply to this comment
- An opinion poll on climate change. is very similar to taking an opinion poll while you are surrounded by smoke on whether the house is on fire or not.

My response:
That''s exactly the point! Fourteen (14) years isn''t much time for the huge increase in record-setting temps we''ve been having lately. Things are changing.
Naysayers seem to be ''hung up'' on exact definitions and 100% accuracy etcetera. But, life isn''t like that, rarely do we attain such definitiveness.
Whereas nature does from time to time reset the balance of the planet by entering ice ages, it is probable man''s activities the last few decades are or will trigger this/these next change(s).
Personally, I''m content in this knowledge. I''m not hung up on getting 100% accuracy or agreement, that isn''t going to happen. But, we better begin to make changes in stewardship of our treatment of the environment, or it''s going to treat us badly in return. - Reply to this comment
- I hope Dr. Hanson will come aback and testify in 2018 when the global cooling has set in. He can celebrate 30 years of being wrong.
Britain and the US need energy independence, we need to use what we have the most of and that is coal. They are working on cleaner burning plants, the technology will come. All this panic over global warming, have any of you on here bothered to keep track of how much of Al Gore''s Inconvenient Truth has turned out to be a convenient lie. And the protesters chaining themselves to fences and all that rubbish, great, a bunch of slackers on the dole or spoiled college kids and college faculty who would not know a real day''s work if it bit them. One thing to say to them, shut the heck up! Most of us don''t care about your whining, we have to figure out how to get to WORK, something you worthless wastes of flesh should try now and again. - Why doesn''t someone Hansen why if the science is sound, is he soafraid of "Deniers". He wants to though them in jail. Sounds more like a regligious/political persucution than sound science. Why doesn''t he address the concerns of the 30,000 plus scientists who question global warming as man made. Including Freman Dyson a world renouned physicist. Seems like 30,000 vs Hansen and the 600 in the UN would be news, but I guess CBS is not about news anymore.

"Top UN scientists have been forced to admit that natural weather occurrences are having a far greater effect on climate change than CO2 emissions as a continued cooling trend means there has been no global warming since 1998."
...According to man-made global warming advocates, CO2 emissions are the main driver of climate change and natural weather patterns caused by sun activity and other native contributors play second fiddle.
But here we have UN climate scientists admitting that natural climate change contributors have eclipsed the effect of CO2 emissions for the past 10 years, even as carbon belchers like China and India have increased CO2 output at record levels!
Global temperatures have remained reasonably flat since a decline in 1998 and cooling trends are now being observed despite the fact that carbon dioxide levels have increased in the atmosphere. - Reply to this comment
