As a stark contrast to misinformation campaigns funded by oil and gas companies that fear the implications of global warming to their bottom line...

"By Seth Borenstein, Associated Press
The nation''s top climate scientists are giving An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore''s documentary on global warming, five stars for accuracy."

These are the same tactics used by "friendly scientists" who would have you believe that smoking''s not bad for you, and by creationists that would denounce Evolution as ''just a theory'', knowing full well that many American''s don''t understand the scientific term and could misinterpret it as much less than settled.

People who mislead only need your votes - they don''t need or even want you to be well informed. So get reputable sources!

From the link:

" The vast majority of scientists has determined global warming to be a real threat. So why has it taken so long to convince Americans?

Misinformation Campaign

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ross Gelbspan blames a 15-year misinformation campaign by the oil and coal industries.

"The point of this campaign was not necessarily to persuade the public that global warming isn''t happening," Gelbspan said. "It was to persuade the public that there is this state of confusion."

A 1998 memo by the American Petroleum Institute said, "Victory will be achieved when %u2026 average citizens recognize uncertainties in climate science."

To redefine global warming as theory -- not fact -- the industry funded research by "friendly" scientists..."

In other words, this sounds like the well-founded misinformation campaign that some people swallow hook, line, and sinker.

Part 2 of 2

Arthur Robinson, founder and president of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)

This article is part of the Nuclear spin analysis project of SpinWatch (UK) and the Center for Media and Democracy.
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Oregon_Institute_of_Science_and_Medicine
The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) describes itself as "a small research institute" that studies "biochemistry, diagnostic medicine, nutrition, preventive medicine and the molecular biology of aging." It is headed by Arthur B. Robinson, an eccentric scientist who has a long history of controversial entanglements with figures on the fringe of accepted research. OISM also markets a home-schooling kit for "parents concerned about socialism in the public schools" and publishes books on how to survive nuclear war.
