- "Just listen to the posts here. We are a nation of Democrats who ask "Whats in it for me?"

Who says these negative posts are coming from democrats? Just another delusional assumption to meet your political agenda.
"Does it put money in my pocket, Today?"

You delusional accusations are backwards, again to meet your political agenda. It''s the Bushies and neocons who "need" money in their pockets. They are the ones who would end the program because it gives them no personal and immediate gain. - Reply to this comment

- to the geniuses who say this $$ shouldn''t be spent due to the economy being in such a shambles right now....
HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OUT THERE.... These projects are planned YEARS ahead of time. Sometimes decades ahead of time. I dunno about you, but it seems to me the economy was in GREAT shape about 10 years ago.
In addition, exploration of other worlds eventually will lead to the survival of the human race. But, yes, i know... most people of the world are only concerned about their miniscule solitary existence... who cares what future generations will have to put up with.
With all that said.... i think if we stop spending $$ on war and fighting and just spent it on the people of the US, we''ll be FAR BETTER OFF. - Reply to this comment
- "Unlike the twin rovers, which have been operating...since 2004.." ON SOLAR POWER !!!! Solar power is the future. What do we operate on solar power here ? I have a freakin'' wrist watch that operates on solar power - that''s ALL. Everything else takes combustion, with all that waste, inefficiency and cost. Every single day unlimited and enormous power flies right by us and dissipates into space, while we light fires to burn coal. We need to learn what every plant knows, and we better learn it fast. There is no excuse for every single shingle on every single building not being a solar collecter. It''s absurd to have only specialty contractors dabbling in this while humanity careens towards an energy meltdown and governments war over petrochemical resources. It''s absurd that solar energy should be expensive. We have to get there, butg we never will as long as we burn fossil fuels. As long as our leaders come from, or ar paid by, the oil and coal industries. We deserve extinction if we ignore the source of all of earth''s energy, which blows by us every single day.

- Go NASA! Missions like this are a boost to the nation''s moral and the economy. Not to mention the technical advances that enable these mission often find their way into Earth-based applications which affect all of us. From smoke detectors to medical lasers to advanced farming techniques, NASA has been responsible for improvements that benefit the entire human race. It is just ignorant to claim space exploration is a waste of money.
