Me too jimfinster. I can definately understand some of the reasons why they want to believe it. When I talked to those mormon missionaries the other day it was fascinating. It was completely clear that a part of their ability to think rationally and critically was damaged and compromised in their upbringing.

I understand why people WANT to believe in religion.

I just don''t understand why they do.

I really dont get it guys. I really want to try to understand how people can think so illogically, but I do not seem to make much progress.

rick,

It seems likely that there was a man named Jesus, and then a whole fictitious legend was built around him and written in a book called the bible. But of course it is possible that Jesus was also made up as well.

Why is that concept so hard for you to understand?

Metamorphisis is a direct debunk of evolution. You can try to spin it all you''''d like.
Exploring metamorphis merely confirms the Magnificent awesome power of God''''s creation and His infinite wisdom that is above all of mankind''''s understanding.

No, you asked me to provide you with evidence of evolution explaining metamorphosis, and I did.

You basically restate the boring old creationists creed (say this in a monotone): "God is great, God is great, God created all things and they are as they are. There''s no need to dig deeper and understand anything. God is great!"

rick,

You base all your arguments on the bible. It is simply circular reasoning that goes nowhere.

Rational people simply do not accept the supernatural world described in the bible. And for sure it is not accepted in scientific methodology. Just get over it!

So, if we''re going to treat the Bible as a scientific document to teach children about the alternatives to evolution in science class, let''s see what the Bible has to tell us about dragons, which Rick thinks are a Biblical codeword for dinosaur. This is from a search of the King James Bible; I just took material from Revelations because I couldn''t be bothered reading more.

''And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.''

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Revelations 12: ''And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.''

So, how exactly will any of this be useful to a kid in biology class? Any seven-headed dragon fossils found? Frogs coming out of the mouth of a dragon? What''s this supposed to mean?

Another strawman argument. Most of us agree there was a man named Jesus. That in no way validates any of the supernatural claims made by the bible.
