See you again next CBS News evolution article.

Ben Stein movie Expelled makes some outrageous claims. However there%u2019s very little in the film that actually holdup under scrutiny.

Check out this web site if you really want to get a perspective on the other side.

And what miracles did Joseph Smith and David Koresh perform again?
Posted by libagenda at 05:44 PM : May 02, 2008

What miracles did Joseph Smith perform? Are you kidding me? He translated golden tablets in a language he had never heard with the help of an angel as an uneducated commoner in his early twenties. If that is not a miracle I do not know what is.

How do you re-package that tried and untrue, untested and untestable faith-without-facts warhorse, "Creationism" after its nearly-annual beat-down by an increasingly exasperated scientific community? After you''ve tried renaming it "Intelligent Design," I mean.

Stein (he co-wrote it) builds his movie on classic Big Tobacco Tactics. Create just a sliver of doubt about evolution by pitching this argument in terms of academic freedom. "Legitimate" learned scientists are being silenced by the Darwinian cabal of thought police. Says Stein.

He uses anecdotes from a few Fox-over-publicized cases of third-rate academics who claim to have lost tenure/their jobs/their position in the scientific world for daring to suggest the hand of a supernatural being in the creation of life. He hasn''t a scintilla of proof of, well, anything. Then he has the audacity to whine, "Where''s the data" when questioning cellular biologists and other real scientists who build their lives around doubt, and finding testable, legitimate answers to those doubts. Where''s YOUR data, Ben?

rational_1, Ben Stein boy says science leads to killing in an interview I saw. Guess he does not value all of what science has done to extend human life.

Well David Koresh did make a bunch of weak-willed people believe he was a prophet and that they should burn their kids to death rather than surrender. It''s pretty miraculous that he managed to find such a group of morons to idolize him.

Go watch the film. There are many scientists in the film, on both sides of the debate. Ben Stein simply interviews them. And he doesn''''t push either side of the issue either.
The film is about freedom, for all sides.
Check it out.

I will see the film. However, don''t try to make Stein out to be some neutral party. I''ve heard him interviewed a number of times and he''s an ID''er from the word go. He also co-wrote the film.

libagenda, hey idiot, at least we can quote you in full and laugh at you. You guys have to edit out the parts you do not like, fire-breathing dragon boy.

Rick,

The film was cleverly edited together to take people (like Dawkins) out of context. Kinda like watching Fox News. No thanks.

If you really want to understand the subject, go take some science courses.

How about the fact that Steiny boy seriously edited out parts of Darwin quotes? You talk about an agenda, little brain...just look at what he left out, taking out clauses in the middle of sentences. That makes me think the guy is a real d*ck-head:

Eye-witnesses to Jesus Christ and His part in history = THOUSANDS

Eye-witnesses of Darwin''''s theory of history = ZILCH

Have a nice day!

Eye-witnesses to Joseph Smith and his life = tens of thousands.

Eye-witnesses to David Koresh and his life = MILLIONS.

You have no case little brain, do not try to debate with intelligent people if you do not want to come out looking stupid.

Again, all this stuff is rightfully exposed in the film.
Posted by libagenda at 05:31 PM : May 02, 2008

Long ago (if it''s you Rick) you chided me for referencing Wikipedia as a starting point for reading material regarding points I was making.

And now, here you are using a Ben Stein film as your source. Pathetic. By the way is Ben Stein a biologist? Nope, he''s a lawyer, so you just know you can trust him!

Go watch Expelled. You may enjoy it. There are agnostic scientists on there as well.

I doubt it. Looks like propaganda nonsense. I get my information from scientists and engineers, not bad actors. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

How many eye-witness accounts did you say there were again for Darwin''''s historic timeline?
Posted by libagenda at 05:30 PM : May 02, 2008

Prove Moses existed. Prove Revelations isn''t just an acid trip gone seriously wrong.

Why do you concentrate so much on Darwin? He was just the catalyst who sparked this whole area of science. There are many, many evolutionary biologists out there now and I don''t know of a single accredited university that doesn''t have at least one course on evolution.

How many eye-witnesses were there to the murder of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. None, but the evidence was overwhelming. And you are like a person on the jury - you do not want to believe it. Or more likely, just do not have the brain power. I do not blame stupid people, but I am afraid that stupid people are very dangerous. And most Americans (and people of many other nations admittedly) are very stupid.

Rick, I honestly do not blame you really at all for your lack of intelligence. You just simply were not born with the genes to be that intelligent and your upbringing stunted it even more. You just do not know any better. Just let scientific thinkers and scientists define what is to be taught in science classrooms (i.e. place where findings of the SCIENTIFIC METHOD are taught) and leave yourself and that hillariously idiotic Ben Stein out of it.

But if you want to believe in Darwin, you can!

Poor Rick. I don''t have to "believe" in Sir Isaac Newton to recognize the factual basis of gravity.
