I might add that almost any car to car accident WILL cost more than the couple hundred the laws allows to not be reported, a bumper can cost over $1500 to fix, a dent in a side panel with matching the paint and repainting- at least that much.

And he said police officials he''s talked to haven''t complained about the service because it inevitably encourages drivers to slow down"

Thats not the GOAL for giving tickets though, the real agenda is REVENUE, let me say it clearer;
R E V E N U E for the city, county, state coffers, its all about how much MONEY in fines they can extract from you, the dumb sheeple.

Want to protest your ticket? sure you can, just take half a day off work, drive a while to get to the court, wait in line with 50 other dumb sheeple for your turn in front of the judge and the COP, now, how you gonna PROVE you were not speeding/following too close, ran the light, didn''t stop completely for the sign?
No matter what you do or say, the judge will believe the COP every time over you- you are guilty unless you prove yourself innocent. Its a racket in collusion with the insurace co''s who then raise your premiums. Thats why you are REQUIRED to report ALL accidents where damage is over a couple hundred bucks, and why they make it illegal to not do that and negotiate a settlement with the other driver for minor damage where theres no injuries- they want to come out and issue TICKETS for something, they cant do that if you two drivers just agree to a cash settlement for that little dent or scratch.

No it actually isn''t illegal. I could stand next to the hinding cop car with a sign reading "Cop, Speed trap". Nothing illegal there. For decades law enforcement and the public have been playing this game of cat & mouse.
Got to have something to do on those long drives...

thetiff10 claims that cops don''t have a quota of tickets to write. That MAY be true in his location, but it is not universally true. I have personal knowledge of certain areas where the cops DO HAVE A QUOTA to fill. If they''re out there writing tickets and they don''t get enough, their supervisors give them demerits. Get enough demerits, and they get fired. The assumption is that people are all speeding, if you can''t catch them, then you aren''t doing your job.

there is no quota to fulfill. That is just something people say. Cops don''''t need to have any tickets issued at all.

Now you are being funny.
Cops are required to write tickets.
That is a proven FACT.
After having someone explain to you what a speed trap is
sit in a small corner by yourself and draw the picture.
Have a lunch with you ''cause it will take you a while
to figure it out.

Just wanted to comment on ApprxAm''s post. Radar detectors are only illegal in NY if you''re vehicle is over 10 tons. They are not all illegal. And on Brianwb''s , there is no quota to fulfill. That is just something people say. Cops don''t need to have any tickets issued at all.

Re: "Also, such warnings will automatically make people slow down without having to contribute to the policemen''s party fund, and that is not so bad."
