Global Economic Group Says It's Affordable, Economically Viable Now, But Not For Long

Dan Rather.

- If you really want to play the "global warming started X years ago" game, you should talk about how we''re reversing a 5-million-year cooling trend.

A closer look at today''s trend, within the context of the last 1,000 and 2,000 years, makes it even clearer that today''s trend is striking -- opposite to what one would expect without human activities.

Every major scientific institution dealing with climate, ocean, and/or atmosphere agrees that the climate is warming rapidly and the primary cause is human CO2 emissions. - Reply to this comment

- The real problem is overpopulation. We are already economically impaired so throwing all the trillions it is going to take to "go green" will create poverty everywhere and all for nothing. It is not going to change a dang thing because global warming is natural. Britain has bit this hook line and sinker and are already fielding complaints about costs. Yes maybe we should slow our emissions but not as a kneejerk reaction to a bunch of theories. Looney ones at that. We are paying in the U.S. already because we are using food for bio fuels and it is driving up costs everywhere especiall;y food prices. Just when gas is almost too expensive to buy we will get a biofuel and gas combination that is not good for your present small engines and costs the same. Food prices go up at the same time. What have we gained? Nothing because we lost.

- What''''s funny about that is that ABC/CBS/MSNB/CCNN/Public Radio all are so left-leaning, walking in lockstep - their ''''news'''' broadcasts are all identical to each in perspective, you see one of their newscasts, you''''ve seen all of them for the day...
So when Fox News comes along, and they are to the right of all these left-wing ''''news'''' shows, you think Fox is biased.
It would be hysterically funny if it weren''''t so sad.

Fox News?

- cruhsher - I don''t think that you can compare the dinosaurs climate with ours because the land masses were a different shape100 million years ago than they are now. I will admit that, as with every graph of natural occurance there is noise associated with climate graphs. You have to look at the overall trend. (The stock exchange has been up and down over the last 50 years but it''s general trend is up). Pretty much every map of global temperarure I''ve seen for years is a slow trend up followed by a sharper increase over the last 100. Maybe global warming is not a product of man, but we''re certainly not helping.

- Sorry finster, could not get past the Al Gore part.. This looks like a way for him to cash in on the global warming rhetoric in his film. Thats what my open mind told me lol..

Gore is worth $100 million already. I doubt he needs the cash :) - Reply to this comment
- Here''s a blog about a left-wing scientist who says Global Warming has stopped, and we need to find out why before we spend billions of dollars on wasted effort.
My, what a novel thought.

- You can have electricity and take your chances with global warming in the future...
Or you can shut off your electricity and have guaranteed poverty and privation in the future.
Make sure you understand what you are being offered before you choose. - Reply to this comment
- Republicans will say that the earth will still warm no matter what we do, so why worry? It is that empty headed "thinking" that got us into a mess in the first place. They censor scientific findings that do not agree with what they want. These guys are truly dangerous and should be kept out of power permanently.

No, it is mindless socialist sheep such as yourself you either do not posess the ability or the desire to think for yourself and do the research from an open mind that continue to propagate one of the biggest hoaxes ever devised. If you can explain away 3 billion years of climate fluxuation, get started, I am certainly listening. - Reply to this comment

GIM is about WAY more than climate change and carbon trading. Check them out with an open mind, make up your own mind....

Its important to set a few terms straight. Global warming is often mixed up with Man Made global warming. First, we are NOT causing global warming. If that were true then there would be no history of the atmosphere warming and cooling prior to say 10,000 years ago and really not before the last 200 since we only recently started using coal as fuel and others added since. What I call global warming is the natural trend of the Earth to go through phases much as it has for billions of years. Again, the dinosaurs lived in a much warmer climate than we do today. As for the rising sea levels, it is a concern as are melting ice caps, although the ice caps recede 1 year and expand the next so its really hard to say where that goes and if or when it will stop. The problem is that we are NOT going to be able to affect the global temperature one way or the other. We just don''t have that big of an impact globally. I just don''t see any mechanism of the earths natural processes that we have ever been able to effectively control. If you can think of one, please let me know. Additionally, who is to say the if we are able to control the environment that we are actually throwing nature out of balance only to see a complete boomerang effect where we plunge ourselves into an ice age? Anyone ever consider that? - Reply to this comment
- Dr. Finster,
Then you must at least consider conceding the point that Algore is at a minimum suspect in his preaching about global warming and buying carbon credits whilst he is founder and chairman of GIM, a so-called "carbon credit" company that has never really shown what exactly it does.
I mean, if you''''re going to be consistent at all in attacking others because of their connections.

- USBrit,
When, pray-tell, will Madison Square Garden be underwater?
You shouldn''t believe everything Algore tells you.
I hope you haven''t purchsed any of his carbon credits yet. You''re gonna need the money to pay for all the Carbon taxes Obama and Hillary are gonna lay on you. - Reply to this comment
