Bush Stands Behind EPA On Denying California's Bid To Cut Vehicles' Emissions; Schwarzenegger Vows To Sue
- Man made global warming is a hoax being exploited by idiot pea brained politicians, and hucksters like BiiiiiiiiiiG AL Gore for money. You''re a sucker if you believe it. Global cooling is here now, we''re all going to freeze to death now. People who are pushing the man made global warming at warp speed are the leftist politicians and their friendly leftist media.
There is ZERO factual evidence showing humans are causing global warming. - Reply to this comment
- Conservatives, by definition, oppose any change. They want things to either stay the way they are or go back to the way they were. The past is always better than the future, the old better than the new. That''s just the way they are.

- LASTDANCE : The epitome of a cowardess fool. Impotent? Perhaps. On drugs? You bet.
But the most important thing to know about LASTDANCE is that he is a left wing poltroon. Never having to know how to stand up for what%u2019s right. Never having to know what it means to fight for his country. He is, as they say, a weakling.
LASTDANCE is a small person, an agitator with little to no power, or better yet, he is a mischievous little child - commonly referred to as an %u201CImp%u201D.
Throughout our nation%u2019s great history, there have been many %u201CBrave%u201D souls that have fought and lived, and, fought and died, to keep this country great. Not just in wars, but in all facets of everyday life. LASTDANCE is not one of them.
I could write many things about LASTDANCE but I%u2019m limited to the number of characters to post on this board. So, having said that, and, in closing, I want all of you to know that LASTDANCE%u2019s feeble minded attempts to discredit the people he disagrees with is not only laughable, but down right farcical.
LASTDANCE is a nincompoop, a dumkopf, if you will%u2026%u2026
Yes LASTDANCE, you%u2019re the enemy. You%u2019re the disease that needs to be cured.

- The damage done to the American economy does not make front-page headlines every day, but the repercussions will be felt beyond the lifetime of anyone reading this page.
I can hear an irritated counterthrust already. The president has not driven the United States into a recession during his almost seven years in office. Unemployment stands at a respectable 4.6 percent. Well, fine. But the other side of the ledger groans with distress: a tax code that has become hideously biased in favor of the rich; a national debt that will probably have grown 70 percent by the time this president leaves Washington; a swelling cascade of mortgage defaults; a record near-$850 billion trade deficit; oil prices that are higher than they have ever been; and a dollar so weak that for an American to buy a cup of coffee in London or Paris-or even the Yukon-becomes a venture in high finance.
And it gets worse. After almost seven years of this president, the United States is less prepared than ever to face the future. We have not been educating enough engineers and scientists, people with the skills we will need to compete with China and India. We have not been investing in the kinds of basic research that made us the technological powerhouse of the late 20th century. And although the president now understands-or so he says-that we must begin to wean ourselves from oil and coal, we have on his watch become more deeply dependent on both. - Reply to this comment
- We can''t say that our modern day is the cause of globol warming. What was the cause 10,000 years ago.
Do you know that the millions of beast that roamed the planet made more CO2 than us? (humans)
Hundred million Bison alone in the US.
Did you know that if you drove from NY to LA it''s the same output as a moose farting for a year!
Al Gore got you guys hooked, It''s all a shell game for a new tax!
Al uses $15,000.00 a month at his home for electric.

- Posted by CoolProphet,
Your post is not only moot, but also dangerously misleading.
It is undeniable that we are polluting our environment. Whether or not it is contributing to global warming is beneath intelligent discussion, the fact is that we are, by dumping poisons into our water, land, and air, creating an environment increasingly hostile to living organisms, including ourselves.
You might remember how polluted Pittsburgh was until the EPA acts, combined with the collapse of the steel and coal industries, cleaned it up, it was a toxic environment.
The fact that we have the technology to clean up our act, but refuse to do so for fear that cash flows will be altered to new, cleaner industries is the only real reason there is resistance.
You can deny global warming all you want, your denials only help pollution''s effects bring the day of human''s extinction a little closer. - Reply to this comment
- MANMADE GLOBAL WARMING: A GLOBALIST LIE
When I consider the claim that we should give-up our civil liberties in order to protect ourselves from terrorism, or that we should pay a global Carbon Tax administered and enforced by the U.N. (one world government), because mankind is somehow to blame for global warming, two quotes come to mind:
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
- Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propagandist
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself, and those who would exploit our fear for power and their own personal, selfish, cynical gain."
- Franklin D. Roosevelt
EARTH IS HEATING UP lately, but so are other planets in our solar system. It''s scientific fact. The sun''s increased activity links all of these warming events. Fluctuations in solar activity effect the climate on Earth and other planets, and always will. No reputable scientist could deny that increased Sun activity causes an uptick in Earth''s temperatures. Man''s impact on the planet is exaggerated. All 6 billion people on Earth could fit into an area no bigger than New England. - Reply to this comment
- "We do not want these standards in California."
Not true. We do.
"California is trying to mandate 50 miles per gallon .."
Good! although if you read the article, that is not the case in this debate.
"Carbon Dioxide does not make it hard for me to breath [sic]"
The regulation is aimed at greenhouse gasses. CO2 is one.
"...all they want to do is play the blame game."
They are doing the opposite--taking action and addressing the problem at the source. What the heck is the ''blame game" here?
"Some one should sue California like California tried to do to the auto industry ..."
Backwards again--the auto industry sued California. They decided it was cheaper to pay lawyers than to pay researchers to figure out how to make cleaner cars. - Reply to this comment

- I am all in favor of improved fuel economy and reduced CO-2 emissions -- it is just that this waiver law is not a legal way of pursuing those goals. One of the purposes of the waiver law was to help California meet unique compelling needs for auto emissions reductions, and the need to reduce CO-2 emissions is not unique to California. Also, the waivers are supposed to be for the emissions certifications of individual vehicles and not for the setting of average emissions of all vehicles sold in a state.
We need to have national standards for fuel economy and CO-2 emissions. - Reply to this comment

- Bush is all too happy pushing "conservation lite"-- doing as little as possible under decades-old clean air statutes. Often, not even what the law requires.
The Bush call for a "national policy" is merely an excuse to continue his policy of having no policy.
At stake, of course, is the Bush patronage. Political favors can be bought, and corporate polluters know whom to bribe at election time. Bush has little argument with global warming, per se, except for spending money to reduce pollution. This is an economic argument, but not a scientific one. - Reply to this comment
- It is hilarious watching a fellow who used to run Texas - one of the few places in the first world with state-sanctioned pollution - try to act like he cares about the most effective way to deal with pollution.

- "The question is how to have an effective strategy. Is it more effective to let each state make a decision as to how to proceed in curbing greenhouse gases or is it more effective to have a national strategy," Bush said at a news conference Thursday.
Are you joking? Based on this presidents track record global warming does not exist and Iraqi oil will power our SUVs forever.
I for one say let California implement policies to address global warming. Once again its up to the states to lead the federal government!
Wheres the leadership the GOP promised? - Reply to this comment
- We don''''t want these standards in California. This is ridiculous. California is trying to mandate 50 miles per gallon on any car in the state and nation. Carbon Dioxide does not make it hard for me to breath its all the particulate matter in the air. The California EPA needs to stop wasting their time and work on the things that are making people sick. Stop wasting my tax dollars playing political games and fix the dam air. If california was seriously worried about CO2 emissions then they would have emplimented mass transit years ago. Instead all they want to do is play the blame game. Some one should sue California like California tried to do to the auto industry for the states failure to control global warming emissions before it was popular.
