U.S. Bends To Critics, OKs Climate Roadmap

Which it will promptly ignore and violate constantly.

Anyone continually trusting proven liars is exponentially worse than a sucker, a concept for which I don''t think a word exists...

As a geologist, I am somewhat aware of the ice ages :)

You seem to have a profound misunderstanding of how this all works. The Wikepedia article on global warming is recommended reading. Open your mind, and spend a few days reading and understanding the basic science and facts involved in this debate.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it.

Yes, me too. It is called GLOBAL WARMING DENIAL, funded by the fossil fuel industry. Believed by the gullible and uneducated.

overrun in numbers or quantities large enough to be harmful, threatening, or obnoxious

I say again, a very apt description of your postings on this board.

Why don''t we first enforce the laws we already have. They were working out just fine-water is clean, air is cleaner.Don''t like the oil co''s?Start building nuclear reactors-fast neutrinos, double insulated etc.France is 10th our size and it''s got twice as many reactors.
Beside himself and family I doubt the regular citizen is willing or able to support more bureaucrats("environmentalists",scientists, call it what you want).

"global warming" translation-the ability of foreign govs to tax regular american citizens and businesses.
The problem is that will never fly-No taxation without representation.

Posted by mediapreachr at 09:18 PM : Dec 15, 2007

Don''t EVEN try to turn this into some kind of patriotic "America against the world" thing.

Not after having had to fight for years to stop America''s corporations from poisoning Americans.

Not after years of our American corporations'' air and water discharges polluting the world.

Not after decades of America''s corporations selling Americans out for cheaper offshore labor.

Not after years of Bush''s wars for oil.

"Folly in Bali". "Curing cancer by killing the patient."

Now there is a traditional neocon tactic - if you can''t fight the truth, wrap a lie in a slogan and repeat it. Endlessly.

Just like cult religions do.

corrected post:

CO2Max:

Do you then deny that CO2 is a greenhouse gas?

Do you then deny that CO2 levels have increased 35% since the start of the industrial revolution?

Do you then deny that CO2 increases are primarily due to human activity?

Unless you deny the above points, please explain why the measured increase in a greenhouse gas would not result in increased global warming. As a fellow geologist, I await your reply.

PS Speaking of geologists, here is the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) position, verbatim from their web site.

"Global warming, or human-induced climate change, is one of the most prominent environmental issues of our time. It is generally accepted that increases in the atmospheric concentrations of heat-trapping (greenhouse) gases, particularly carbon dioxide, may underlie any recent warming currently being documented and may contribute to subsequent global environmental change."

This is the typical analogy of the zombies:
"The United States in particular is behaving like passengers in first class in a jumbo jet, thinking a catastrophe in economy class won''t affect them," said Tony Juniper, a spokesman for a coalition of environmentalists the conference."
So the Folly in Bali has decided that the global crises in economy class is that some fat guy has passed gas and the only answer is to open the door to air things out. You''re right, the catastophe brings everybody down. In this case, it''s the solution that creates the doom, not the reason for the solution. The measures proposed by the IPCC and its adherants are similar to the idea of ''Curing cancer by killing the patient.''

I clearly have more expertise in these matters than the political hacks in Bali. 30 years of involvement in geology make it clear to me and to my colleagues that climate is quite adept at ignoring humans. So, yes we are indeed fortunate that there are experts in the world who know better. Problem is the Zombie faction is growing and the population is being absorbed into the Nitwit Collective. If the adherents to the truth become sufficiently outnumbered, does the truth even matter any more? It may not. But I will not take a different path, unless someone can convince I am wrong. So far, all I get is character attacks and attempts by my opponents to FORCE me to switch my beliefs. If anybody could be convincing and offer real evidence that adds to understanding, such that it sheds light on the planetary greenhouse as a real influence on recent climatic behavior, I would have no problem coming on board. But the scientific evidence that supports the carbon dioxide scheme is based quite firmly on flimsy computer models and inaccurate interpretive analysis of observational data.

Virtually none of the Kyoto signers have lived up to their promise. China and India'' carbon outputs have increased since Kyoto by amounts that no one anticipated in ''97. Our Earth''s atmosphere has been warming since 1350 AD when the eruption of Merapti set off the little ice age.
As our globe warms, Canada, Northern Russia, Siberia and Mongolia are set to become more temperate breadbaskets, possibly capable of feeding the 7 billion souls that will soon inhabit this earth.
We probably cannot stop this chain of events, and it may not be in our best interests to do so.

I want cleaner air too. Let''s start by telling Gore to shut his mouth.

Gore is a frigging eco-hypocrite. He is personally responsible for tons and tons of greenhouse emissions and pollution. And he buys ''carbon offsets'' from HIS OWN company.

And they gave THIS jackass a share of a Nobel Prize?

I do more personally to keep the environment clean than Faker Gore.

you are obviously an expert because you read the news and consider the source you read to be true.

everyone else has read the news too. and we have another take on it. are we experts too?

It gives us all great satisfaction to know we have your eminent expertise to show us the way. The path required by the G.O.P. and there energy industry moguls.

We indeed are so fortunate.

curse914 - The campaign against global warming and all the hype surrounding carbon dioxide has nothing whatsoever to do with making the environment clean. If the parties involved with maintaining climate were really concerned with the environment, they would focus sharply on clean air, clean water and proper use of resources. Instead the Bali Folly continues the scare-mongering and coercion into action of the industrialized, developed world to act on behalf of the supposed poor who will be victimized by the trauma of slow, relentless, hardly noticable warmth.

The Bush Administration has finally agreed that the U.S. will begin to negotiate a solution regarding global warming AFTER it leaves office. It has left the disaster it created in Iraq to be solved by the NEXT president. The borrow and spend policies that the Bush Administration has pursued will be inherited and dealt with by FUTURE generations. The incredible low standing of the U.S. in the world because of Bush''s arrogant and wreckless dealings will need to be dealt with by FUTURE leaders. It''s no wonder that many feel that GWB is the worst president in U.S. history. Is there really any doubt?
