There are LOTS of reasons for the continuing hysteria about Human-Caused Global Warming.
Here''s some for you. Not all of the reasons motivate everyone in The Consensus, but one or more of the reasons motivate some:
Here''s the Top Ten Reasons For The Consensus'' Hysteria About Human Caused Global Warming:
10. The herd-mentality.
9. Peer-pressure. (Grown ups are just as prone to it as kids.)
8. Being afraid to look stupid in front of your peers.
7. Afraid to say, ''The Emporer Algore has no clothes.''
6. Follow the money, the grant money.
5. It''s a reason to raise taxes. (Politician''s reason.)
4. It''s a reason to increase government (Politician''s reason.)
3. A misreading of incomplete data.
2. Arrogance.
And the number one reason: A chance to hang out with Algore by his Heated Swimming Pool. - Reply to this comment

Out flooded out, not earth destroying the earth. It''s already happening in the U.S. Sea levels are raising . . don''t you read the newspapers, or are you in self deniel. - Reply to this comment

Great day here, we have even had some climate change rain of late, so there is lots of green grass around, and our local water supply dam is full, however the two large agriculture supply dams are only 15 and 16% respectively.
I see Gaye 05 is desperately posting misinformation, as is her usual habit, I suppose it keeps all those deniers happily misinformed, they need somebody as is she and CO2 MAX, helps them to hide their heads in the sand, of which I assume there are heaps around Cheyenne.- Reply to this comment

But, but, but Armageddon isn''t a flood, we have rainbows as a covenant that the earth won''t end in a flood.
So it really can''t be global warming raising the seas can it?
If the earth ends in fire, I bet it will be nukes from those pesky Iranians. Pesky Iranians.

NASA scientist need to take business and economic classes.
The Gobal effort they are hoping is not real world application. Okay, Exxon Mobil Shell and Texeco stop using your petro products (we ban fossil fuel, now). No more american and foreign car makers ... we ban petro fuel vehicles. CEO response: Okay, we will give up our BILLION DOllAR retirement and overhaul the entire transportation industry . . . and go bankrupt doing it. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE SOMETHING OUR GREEDY CORPORATIONS ARE GOING TO DO. If you say, yes. You are on LSD. If you think the Government is going to do something ... well, that is like asking the White House give the documents on Enron.
Guess Nostradus was right . . . we are going to be flooded out. Have your flood insurance update, for whatever that is worth. - Reply to this comment
- Gaye5,
So why the deception, a plan to overthrown petro industry? A subversive propaganda to keep piosoning the air, or a way to justify high oil prices? Or NASA trying to get back in to the media center to boost support for the space program? You are being to sound like corporate PR man. - Reply to this comment

Wow. Now I can drive my honkin'' huge SUV in peace, knowing that 1- I am not doing a thing to the planet and 2- I am making Bush richer.
How do you tell the future anyway, the rest of us mortals can''t see that far ahead.
To think, global warming is all a plot by Al Gore to take over the world, one carbon emission permit at a time! He will gain such wealth and power by making the human race reduce pollutants! The CAD!

- Gaye5,
You don''t understand! The debate is over. It''s no longer a scientific issue, it''s a MORAL issue.
Your posts show you obviously are financed by Big Oil, so everything you are typing is a lie.
You are obviously a right-wing, flat-earth nut-job that must be silenced. What you are doing in your posts is criminal. And you obviously don''t know what you''re talking about because I''ve never seen you published in a peer-reviewed journal. - Reply to this comment
- Greenland glacier advancing 7.2 miles per year! The BBC recently ran a documentary, The Big Chill, saying that we could be on the verge of an ice age. Britain could be heading towards an Alaskan-type climate within a decade, say scientists, because the Gulf Stream is being gradually cut off. The Gulf Stream keeps temperatures unusually high for such a
northerly latitude.
One of Greenland%u2019s largest glaciers has already doubled its rate of advance, moving forward at the rate of 12 kilometers (7.2 miles) per year. To see a transcript of the documentary, go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/2003/

- Greenland icecap growing thicker
- 20 Oct 2005 - Greenland ''s ice-cap has thickened slightly in recent
years despite wide predictions of a thaw, scientists said today. Satellite
measurements show that more snowfall is thickening the ice-cap,
especially at high altitudes, according to the report in the journal Science.
"The overall ice thickness changes are ... approximately plus 5 cms
(1.9 inches) a year or 54 cms (21.26 inches) over 11 years," according
to the experts at Norwegian, Russian and U.S. institutes led by Ola
Johannessen at the Mohn Sverdrup center for Global Ocean Studies
and Operational Oceanography in Norway.
The article then blathers on about how this is consistent with global warming.
The deception continues.

- rheola,
How''s summer going down under?
I love how this article is worded to cover all their as... I mean, bases.
They are basically saying some areas will have more drought and some areas will have more rain and snow.
Wow. I''m scared.
How are we supposed to believe anything these "experts" say when their "predictions" vary so wildly, or are so vague... - Reply to this comment
- Polar Ice Cap Studies Refute Catastrophic Global Warming Theories
by James M. Taylor (December 16, 2001)
A series of recent studies shows that the polar ice caps, which should be shrinking if dire global warming theories are correct, are maintaining their mass and in fact growing slightly. The studies suggest satellite temperature readings, which indicate no global warming of the lower atmosphere, are more reliable than surface temperature readings, taken by humans under varying conditions, that had indicated a slow, gradual warming.
A study published in the December 3, 1999 issue of Science magazine, authored by Ola Johannessen, Elena Shalena, and Martin Miles, reported Arctic sea ice had declined by 14 percent from 1978 through 1998. In a related story, columnist Richard Kerr pondered "Will the Arctic Ocean lose all its ice?" The mainstream press ran with the story, giving dire warnings that global warming was upon us.
However, CO2 Science Magazine later noted that in the Johannessen study, "essentially all of the drop . . . occurs rather abruptly over a single period of not more than three years (87/88-90/91) and possibly only one year (89/90-90/91). Furthermore, it could be argued from their data that from 1990/91 onward, sea ice area in the Arctic may have actually increased."
More recent studies of the polar ice caps verify CO2 Science Magazine''s skepticism, and show the polar ice caps are holding their own and actually growing slightly. - Reply to this comment
