Comments on: U.S. Rejects Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Cuts
Despite Scientists' Declaration And Senate Action, U.S. Official Wants No Mandatory Reductions
- Jim, your Big Mac argument is beneath you, and doesn''t hold any water. Don''t let your fanaticism get the best of your reasoning abilities.
What percent of a Big Mac is fat? 40% ??
What percent of our air is CO2? .0385% ??
Come now, you can do better than that.
So tell me something, is CO2 the ONLY thing causing this terrible, out-of-control, will-kill-us-all Global Warming, incredible rise in global temps that we have yet to see?

- I am about to get my bachelor''s degree in geology, so I know a thing or two about the ''natural cycles'' you''re referring to. Ice ages are timed by changes in the Earth''s orbit which affect solar input. During this change melting/freezing ice affects the ocean''s currents, affecting the amount of CO2 that upwells. The increase or drop in CO2 is observed to enhance the warming/cooling. Look at a graph of CO2 concentration over the last 100 years compared to measured amounts in the last 600,000 years and further beyond. We are dumping CO2 into the atmosphere at an unheard of rate.

- We just got rid of our in denial Prime minister, and his attitude to climate change was one of the major reasons he was marched. The incoming Prime minister, has already arranged for the signing of the Kyoto accord.
So that pretty well leaves Bushy boy out on a limb by himself.

Yes, I saw in the news. Congratulations! The same will happen here very soon I hope. - Reply to this comment
- rheola, have you ever heard of an Aussie company called "ARB"? They make accessories for 4WD vehicles.
I bought an old Isuzu I want to mildy modify for trails around Cheyenne, and ARB makes some stuff I''d like to buy.
Their catalogue makes me want to move to Australia again...
But with Global Warming coming, you all will be nothing but a big dustbowl soon, so I don''t know.
(By the way, they''re calling for up to 10 inches of snow tonight, woohoo!) - Reply to this comment

When you eat a Big Mac every day and get fat, why blame the Big Mac? There must be some other cause, right? Why, maybe the oxygen you breath is making you fat. Yeah, that''s it! It''s a scam! - Reply to this comment
- The Earth''s atmosphere, and the gases that trap heat within it, are vitally important to the survival of life on Earth. The ozone is a very small amount of gas in the upper atmosphere, but without it UV radiation would fry most advanced life. Just a 50ppm (0.0005%) decrease of CO2 occors coinciding with an ice age. Without any CO2 in the atmosphere, the Earth would be completely iced over! Please go to school, I''m tired of having to correct people.

Great old fellow.
Pleased to see you are still valiantly trying to save a sinking ship.
How is all that Global cooling snow going.
Great day here, approx 85 degrees, and getting some rain.
Keep up the good but misguided work.- Reply to this comment
- Professional deniers of global warming can generally be traced back to the petroleum or coal industries. These folks have absolutely corrupted the science and public debate on this issue for their own personal gain. And the politicians in bed with these folks have happily facilitated this fraud.

- cofmanaaron,
Just because high CO2 levels have ''coincided'' with higher temps in Earth''s past doesn''t mean CO2 CAUSED it. Higher temps can hold more humidity in the air, but you wouldn''t claim higher humididty CAUSES higher temps.
You''re making a big leap in your comments, a leap that can''t be proven.
It''s been warmer in Earth''s past than it is now. We''re in a natural cycle that we can''t do anything about. So chill out. (hahaha) - Reply to this comment
