Have you heard of isotopic dating? It measures the isotopes (and their subsequent decay) to date elements on a molecular level. Its more accurate than carbon dating for elements (you know, those things that make stuff like rocks and water). It proves that the Earth is at least 4.5 billion years old. +- 1 billion years...

Precisely, Global. I wasn''t there during the big bang. You weren''t there when (if) your god created the earth, so you can''t say you know for sure, with first person experience.

Global, proteins synthesis is not something I can explain to you in 1500 words or less. Simply, proteins are the building blocks for the organic structures that make up your body. A folded protein is an amino acid, and a string of amino acids (all by themselves) is known as a polypeptide. By the way, I have collected rock specimens that date back millions of years. If your god didn''t want us to know these things, why would he allow the technology to be developed?

lastgoodgirl, you never answered my question. How did something come from nothing? Where did the amino acids and proteins come from? And when was the last time something came from nothing?

UMMM, Rick??? All the information you have supporting your belief is a number of texts, written by men, who are reiterating (or restating) words said by another man. This is hearsay and its regurgitated to serve the will of those with alternate agendas. Why are YOU trying to convert people? The most cruel and muderous wars have been fought in the name of "conversion".

I don''t believe the earth is millions of years old, if that''s what you''re asking.

Global, why are you trying to convert me? You never answered my question. Do YOU believe the earth is 6000 years old?

lastgoodgirl, where did the protein and the amino acids come from?

God has given you a free gift of salvation through grace. If you choose to reject him and live apart from him, he will give you exactly what you want -- eternity apart from him. Why would God welcome someone into heaven who either scorns Him or doesn''t believe he exists?

Thank you Rick! Darwin loves you too! Its OK if you dont'' believe in evolution. In fact, its VERY OK! There is no eternal punishment involved if you don''t believe. By the way, if your god is loving and gracious, why do you go to hell for not believing? Isn''t that like spiritual blackmail?
