The Christian Christmas song, "Oh Come Let Us Adore Him" was adapted from the Egyptian poem to Osiris:

"He is born! He is born! O come and adore Him!
Life-giving mothers, the mothers who bore Him,
Stars of the heavens the daybreak adorning.
Ancestors, ye, of the Star of Morning.
Women and Men, O come and adore Him,
Child who is born this night..." Murray, MA (1949) 68

I prefer the Truth over trying to win a popularity contest.

You would not know the truth if it bit you on your arse. You mistake truth for religious dogma, and get reinforcement on that every week from your religious brethern.

singingrick about the dinosaur question, you didn't give any proof, just speculation. You took some terms in the bible and affirmed that they meant to describe dinosaurs. You take the bible literaly so why not admit that when the bible says "dragon" it actually means the mythical creature? The bible mentions unicorns too, are they some other kind of dinosaur?
You also mention discoveries that men and dinosaurs existed at the same time. Do you mind telling us where you got that from?
You keep talking about the flood and Noah's ark, can you please point at evidence that the flood occurred as described in the bible? Can you also prove that they stuffed all those animals in a boat, fed them and managed them for all that time?

See rick, your problem is that you build your arguments on a house of cards. You use the bible as authority without proving it has any authority to begin with. You use arguments about the flood without even bothering to prove it ever happened. You talk of god without proving it exists. You need to build your credibility from the foundations if you want people to listen. I realize that religion doesn't care about how shaky its grounds are, and that logical explanations are frowned upon, but there are intelligent people here who won't fall for that trick.

Oh, and I am still waiting for my answers...

dodging the facts because you are embarassed that you have been duped. typical christian response.
are you off to molest some children now?
its ok, the solar diety jesus will forgive you.

the truth is that jesus was derived from the story of horus, an egyptian solar diety, thier lives are unmistakably parallel. moses was too. i bet you think that when moses came down from mt sinai and told his followers to kill themselves for worshiping a bull he was doing it because the bull was a "false idol". wrong. moses represents aries,
(a ram) observe a jewish man with a rams horn. the bull represents taurus. he was saying that now we are in the age of aries, not taurus. just as jesus represents pisces.
everything in the gospels can be explained astrologically. because the ancients watched and studied the stars. and made literary representations out of them to remember.
its quite clear to those who would like the truth.
the sun was extremely important to them, as it should be to us. without it we would not be here.
there is no invisible man with 10, rules. there was no historical jesus. give me one RELIABLE reference outside of the bible to a historical jesus. and not jocephus, unless you are prepared to argue the existance of hercules.

I have read the Bible, thanks.

Perhaps you can read On The Origins of Species, so you will have some slight clue as to this ongoing conversation.

singinrick:

You seem to be confused. You claimed that most Americans believe that the earth is 6,000 - 10,000 years old. Then you quoted a Gallup poll about evolution to validate your point.

You do understand these are different subjects, right?

I just ask you some simple questions and you get all defensive. Are you embarrassed by your religion?

well well well looks like GOD was there in the creation of HIS CREATION after all!

For all you numb-skulls who believed that we came from a one celled amoeba ..hahahahahaha!!!
I never believed that as a 10 year old ...

God will have the last laugh ...even if you still do not believe that 'man' is a unique creation; and the more they find out, the more it proves GOD IS THE PRIME CREATOR!!!!!

Those poor Leakey's duped just like Darwin and his insanity ..

SEE "IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH!"
And BTW it wasn't 7 days ..
HE IS STILL CREATING! WE ARE ONLY ON THE 6TH DAY!
GOD HELP YOU WHEN HE GETS TO THE 7TH DAY!

why do you think jesus met two fisherman directly after starting his "sect"
what is the relevance of him feeding all the people with 2 fish?
two fish is the symbolic representaion of pisces
you have been duped by the roman catholic church. the faith that all protestant faiths derive from.

blah blah blah blah blah....

Where does it say in the bible that extinct creatures, such as dinosaurs, were on Noah's Ark? It would be pretty *** silly to expect that extinct creatures were on Noah's Ark, right!

I'm amazed at the stupidity that still runs rampant in the USA! What the heck is wrong with you people?

My opinion, like most Americans, is that it is between 6,000-10,000 years old based on scientific evidence and the Bible.
Posted by singinrick at 05:20 PM : Aug 10, 2007

What is the scientific evidence for that again? Can you cite some references?

And most Americans believe that? Really?

-If one believes in the Bible, of course they had to be, because the Bible says that all creatures of all kinds were boarded on the ark.

So, you are saying that dinosaurs existed at the same time people did. You would think those huge creatures would play a prominent place in the bible, huh? Instead it mostly discusses common animals like camels and such...

And I believe you have previously posted that Noah's flood was 6,000 years ago?

singingrick, when you are done answering my questions, you can answer these others:
- Many bible passages talk of god deceiving people, and hardening their heart so that he can punish them even worse. That sounds like an evil god to me. How do you reconcile it with the god of love?
- If god is only good, where did evil come from? If god knows no evil, why do we all have the potential to do evil? If god is omnipotent, it must mean he has the capability to do evil, otherwise he would be limited. How do we know he will never exercise that capability?
- Why would god give us the capability to do evil and then get mad at us when we exercise the capability he gave us?
- Why is god so insecure and starved for attention that he would create the universe just so that people would worship him? Why does he panic and go into rampages when people don't worship him?
- In the 10 commandments, why would god condemn something as stupid as observing the sabbath, but not horrible things like rape, aggravated assault, and child molestation?

Since the flood, the original types of species have interbred with each other creating different "types" of a specific creature, just like there are different breeds of dogs, cats, etc. etc...

so they evolved to what we have today?
