This whole Global Warming Thing is nothing more than Politicized Science is probably one of the most extreme examples of our society. Global Warming...is it really fact? Many scientists disagree on the subject and that should tell us something. This the way I see it. Politics is based in controlling the populace. So the right wants to keep us afraid (and in check) with the War on Terror. The left wants us afraid (and in check) with Global Warming. Check your history books. Back at the turn of the 20th Century there were many famous and influential people pushing Eugenics. Simply put, meaning the earth was going to be over run by stupid people. Which indirectly led to the holocaust. From my perspective, both sides are trying to get us to pick sides and fight amongst ourselves. Given my druthers I'll pick the Global Warming side. We're at least trying to help the planet instead of killing people and making war.

I must agree that Al Gore and the rest of the prophets would wake up being very unpopular in New Orleans or any low area in the world, for that matter, if they faced the truth of their own predictions.

Should the prophets not be predicting that all these places will all be under water and should be evacuated starting ASAP and certainly, not be rebuilt?

We all know that most of the *** the prophets of today see is nothing more then climatic changes this earth has been going through for 4 1/2 billion years. If the earth did not change from how it was in the past we humans would not exist in the first place and that's using their own research FLOL.

We can't stop it and we can't change it, we can only adjust. Posted by HawkSprings at 09:48 AM : Apr 07, 2007

Thank you, HawkSprings. That is exactly the point I was trying to make.

Now, what about these questions:

I live in Hurricane Alley. Should I build a house or live in a trailer? Which is smarter and why?

I live by the beach along the east coast. I have property valued at $800,000 dollars. Should I build a house, live in a trailer or try to sell the property?

I live in Phoenix. I've spent much of my life trying to protect my beautiful lawn. Should I take out my lawn and plant native draught resistant varieties of plants.

Some western states are already fighting over river rights. What do I do if I live in those areas?

We're all breathing the same air. We're all faced with a new reality. Now, how do we intelligently go about our business with revised goals and new attitudes too meet the challenges of our new lives.

For my own benefit, what adjustments can I start making now without becoming panic stricken as we all move forward together?

r9119111, you can't win your argument by setting up straw men.
While the climate may be getting warmer, the dire doom and gloom predictions by Algore and his prophets is NOT a fact and NOT proven. They are simply PREDICTIONS and there are many scientists who don't agree with the doom and gloom, but they are ridiculed and sidelined by people like yourself.

The climate has warmed up and cooled down before and it is doing it again. The climate is doing what it does: IT CHANGES.

We can't stop it and we can't change it, we can only adjust.

Go to Wikipedia and seach for Greenland and see how warm it was during the Medival Warm Period. MUCH warmer than it is now.

The world is not going to end.

Would you build a house below sea level in New Orleans, knowing what you know today? Are you being honest with yourself or are you just plain being stupid? Some of us have the darnedest time being honest.

We do not want to have any child, nor adult left behind for that matter. Global Warming is a fact. With that in mind, I have prepared this very simple and analogous quiz:

1) There is a wild fire blowing toward your house. You can see the flames in the distance and they are moving in your direction very quickly. It doesn%u2019t matter whether an arsonist set the fire or it was an act of God. What would be your choice? (This is neither a negotiable nor a political question.) (Choose only one)

a) Sit on the front porch and ask God to protect you, believing that you have his divine protection simply because you asked for it. You just sit there and watch it come.

b) You take out your cell phone and call 911.

c) You had seen photos of other homes that burned in similar fires, so you decide to follow the well thought out evacuation plan you prepared in advance.

d) None of the above.

You all need to believe Bush over the scientific consensus on this Global Warming thing. After all, why would a rich former oil-company executive lie to you about this particular issue? Oh wait...

Yes, yes by all means we should show how much we hate liberals by pouring all the pollution we can into the atmosphere. Since it doesn't cause global warming, why worry? What's pollution compared to profits for energy companies and their rich investors?

Seems to me it's loyalty to GOP doctrine that's the "religion" here, not fear of global warming. If you don't own 100,000 shares in Exxon Mobil, you pretty much have only one reason for doubting all the scientific evidence on climate change--because Bush told you so. Fools.

I'm sorry your hometown was balanced on steel and it probably is why you have such a grudge. When you put all your eggs in one basket, well you know. That is the law of economics, and we the people will always bare the brunt of poor economical decisions by our leaders.

As far as China and India, you are right, they are horrible examples of what we as man can do. They plunder and rape this planet with no foresight to the destruction it causes, but the progressive countries on this planet are trying to lead they way off of this ocams razor. The Chinese people are starting to see that themselves. China has become so polluted it is hard to breathe in the cities, find clean water, fish in lakes ad rivers where the fish won't poison you and the people are starting to take notice. It won't always be this way, there is a better way foward. I hope you can see that. Because if this is how you feel, then why do anything? We should a become like China and India and other nations that are decades behind us?

If we start now and develope better and cleaner ways, we will continue to be the bright beacon in the world that everyone is drawn to. That is what makes us so good.

I have to leave this fine discussion, but i wish you'd understand, and as a parent you should, that we lead by example in this world and we can find better ways, better technology, and cleaner living. If not, well, good luck...

Just out of curiosity, were are you from didntinhale?

Cause where I come from (northwest America) we care about conservation. It is something our parents and teachers instilled in us, to care about taking care of your planet, to conserve our limited resources, to not polute ever piece of land. And it is a choice we make as young adults, and I have taken an interest in my planet and read a few books on the subject and thanks to my God-given gift of observation have seen the destruction and what it does and know what i can do the help, not harm.

Did your parents raise you with any sence of responsibility? What is sooo bad about wanting to help this world be a better place? Everything costs money, that is a very poor excuse. If we spent 1/10 of what we spend on destroying, this wouldn't be such a disgusting cesspool of filth.

Okay, here is my retort.

Change in anything this big IS going to take a long time. We will be fighting the people that don't want to change (such as yourself) and working to get mother nature back in shape, not an overnight journey. But look at what we have done for the ozone layer, you know that thin shield that protects us from damaging UV light, we saw the problem in the late 70's and started trying to stop it, and you know, it took 20 years but we have slowed the groth down tremendously. You think we shouldn't have even tried?

And for your problem with the amount of monies it'll take, who fricken cares. This is over decades. We spend 100 times that on military, bombs, and bullets every year. It is about time we start using our money for something other than killing. The cost of not doing nothing will be 10 times this amount. It's my taxes that fund these wars and this inept government, I wouldn't mind if a portion of my taxes went to helping the planet we live on instead of killing, wouldn't you?

Hey didntinhale- personally I don't CARE about global warming, whatever happens is going to happen and it's too late to do anything about it now.
Turning off the light in your spare bedroom, or turning your A/C up a couple of degrees or turning your heat thermostat down to 66 from 68, or recycling your piddling little plastic shopping bags isn't going to amount to diddly-squat! Every watt you save now and every gallon of gas you save is going to be squandered by the increased population- the best way to conserve, reduce and make changes is DONT HAVE KIDS!
The extra kid you don't have past one means another entire car not on the road at all, another 4,000 sq ft house that isnt there or being cooled/heated, another mountain of food that won't be used up, rail cars worth full of water that won't be used either, and tanker trucks f sewage that won't have to be treated.
Not having that kid will be FAR greater than changing your stupid 100 watt reading lamp bulb to a 75 watt to "save" 25 whole watts.

rudy654 - I think the problem with didntinhale is that he has INHALED TOO MUCH.

I also think that he and people like him are afraid of CHANGE. For some reason some people are terrified of things changing. AND I also think that they are LAZY. If they stick to the belief that global warming isn't real, they don't have to do their part, do they? They will probably be dead by the time the real **** hits the fan, so they figure why should they have to do anything. If we could see these peoples lives, they are probably alone and don't have loved ones around them. They probably don't have family, children and grandchildren to worry about. They are selfish people only thinking of themselves. Why should they do anything, they aren't going to be around to see the real damage.

I am concerning about this article and more about the precious Planet we live on.
I wrote a poem since along time about it.I hope
you would like it and it's a chance that some
of you can read it.

Our planet
I am concern about
This planet we inhabit
All that is happening
On it and to it
I love to see it
More clean and safe
No nuclear weapons
On it's green lands
No terrorism supersede
I love to see it
Full of love and peace
No pollution no wars
No dryness no tears
No poverty no refuge
Its precious gift
All should concern
About planet we inhabit.

didntinhale, do you care about anything? You have slung so much krap on this board, all discussion has ceased. Tell us about yourself, and what you find so terrible about environmentalists. Obviously you want and need the attention...

Personally i care very much about this planet, my children and loved ones must use this planet for many generations and centuries to come. Destroying it is not the way. Hopefully science will eventually solve the big problems, but who knows.

The sky is not falling, but being poisoned, and the Earth can only filter out so much. I wish i could say that things were good and that nature will sort things out, or this is just a cycle, but truely this is not what I've seen. People pollute and litter and destroy nature. There are many omnious signs that point to ecological disasters happening everywhere. I'm not placing guilt on people, I just wish we cared a little more about doing the right thing, but that's me, a dreamer...

"Sorry Rudy not a religious Zeolot here just an indepependant thinker."

I agree, I think it's important not to stereotype all people such as yourself as religious zealots. That is what you are doing to those who disagree with you by calling them libs. But like your ridicule and laughter, it is also about your fear. Since I trust in God, I am not afraid and I am not angry. I realize that others don't have the same faith as I do, and I recognize that it causes great fear to think that they are alone, thus your need to react by ridicule and laughter. I hope it helps.

Have a good night and uh..don't inhale! ;-)

"I have been doing nothing but laughing."

Well good! I think it's important for you. But the fact that you have been doing so much of it demonstrates how scared you really are. Tell me, are you a religious man? Does prayer help you with your stress, as your laughter does?
